Being fed up with the poor build quality of my previous Tesla’s, this video triggered me to check in with the nearby Porsche dealership. Yesterday I ordered the Taycan Cross Turismo without ever driven it. Just one short testdrive with the Taycan 4S was enough. Porsche did an unbelievable job with the Taycan. Performance, design, handling and quality are out-of-this-world. Thanks for this excellent video. While watching it, you can sense the mix of amazement and joy of driving.
Which version did you get? I have been interested in ordering the Cross Turismo Turbo S model later this year. Might decide to visit the Porsche Center in Zürich before it's out.
@@Mr.Cheeseburger24 I opted for the Cross Turismo 4S. For me it’s powerful enough and it still allows for a decent range. Went to the Porsche Centre in Zug.

@@MOTAHOLIC Absolutely. Might consider a Taycan next time, just the ease of charging with a Tesla is still a significant pull factor especially on longer journeys. Nick, thank you for this (and a big thank you to Kiran as well). Very nice review! Very likeable people, and I love the enthusiasm of the new owner. Several of the features described as "clever" -- e.g., remembering the locations where you want to chassis height increased -- are also on the Tesla Model S/X, and have been for years. Another example is the ability to precool or preheat the car on a user schedule, but the Porsche version sounds as if it provides for more complex schedules. (Actually, many ECs, including modest ones, can preheat/precool.)
Every test I have seen on these cars have been on the top of the line version. It was nice to see a review on the real world model that they will sell the most of. I was surprised to see that the charging ports are manual on the lower spec cars, as opposed to electric on the Turbo S. Very nice presentation!

Car makers are still confused on a few matters. ONE: car keys should need only one button. The car is aware of your proximity and should adjust the button function depending on where in relation to the car you are standing (at the back, by the front, near a door, or far away) with custom commands and options based on user preference set within the Porsche app on your phone. Hold down for three seconds = do X. Press from far away = do Y, and so on. A person should never need to look at their car key to figure which button to press, as the key should have only one button. It should all work seamlessly and be customisable. Key simplified ✅ TWO: modern car keys should feature inductive charging like our toothbrushes have had for 30 years, and charging the key should be as simple as putting the key down in the car, with intelligent key battery management designed to enable the key to have a very long battery life over time. I.E. limiting charging of its decently sized lithium polymer battery to 80% of its battery capacity so the key never sits and 100% charge and ruins battery longevity. The driver will typically keep the key in their pocket, but should the key battery become low, they will be instructed to place it down in a specific place to charge its battery. If the key needs a new battery after several years the user will be notified. Key battery nonsense fixed ✅ THREE: HVAC functions for driver and passenger including heated and cooled seats should be two simple well made multi-function physical dials with circular OLED displays on them, similar in diameter to a round android smartwatch, or perhaps a little larger, with a nice knurled edge and smooth feel. Depressing any one of the two dials (whereby the dial would physically move in with a click feel) would switch between these functions with the change reflected on the OLED dial displays, so the user will know what turning the dial at any point will do, and what the current temperature or setting is. Again, software could allow customisability, so the user can add, remove or reorder how the various options appear in the succession of presses, and what the default setting will always be when they drive away each time. This simplifies the cabin layout while keeping those functions physical. HVAC simplicity and usability sorted ✅ FOUR: two magnetic Qi2 phone chargers up front. Two in the rear (one on the back of each seat). Simplifying HVAC to two dials provides plenty of room for two Qi2 chargers up front, and because Qi2 chargers are magnetic, seat backs are perfect for rear passengers. Fix phone charging in our cars for ALL passengers (not just the driver). USB-C ports should be dessert, not the main course. All passengers should be able to stick their phone magnetically onto Qi2 chargers and have them charge perfectly every time without need to mess around with cables. Phone charging ✅ FIVE: Tesla.... saving money on those turn-signal stalks is ruining our experience, and making it less safe. Turn-signal stalks should frankly be required by law. Add them back.
All of the Taycans come with 800 V fast charging architecture. There is an upgrade to 400 V 150 kw charging which allows faster charging than the default 50 kw capability at 400 V charging stations.

If the key needs a new battery after several years the user will be notified. Key battery nonsense fixed ✅
THREE: HVAC functions for driver and passenger including heated and cooled seats should be two simple well made multi-function physical dials with circular OLED displays on them, similar in diameter to a round android smartwatch, or perhaps a little larger, with a nice knurled edge and smooth feel. HVAC simplicity and usability sorted ✅
FOUR: two magnetic Qi2 phone chargers up front. Phone charging ✅
FIVE: Tesla.... saving money on those turn-signal stalks is ruining our experience, and making it less safe. Turn-signal stalks should frankly be required by law. Add them back.
Have a safe blessed day! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Notice that he thumbed the volume knob down when he first got in? Must’ve been rocking his Bose system.
You are welcome to drive my Polestar 2 when it arrives next month 🙂
Great looking car saw a Taycan Turbo S recently. Wonder what the range is keeping 85% of the battery.

Hi! How are you?
There are nine days left until this year. What a fast flow of time. I hope this week will be a healthier/fine day. ^O^
All of the Taycans come with 800 V fast charging architecture. There is an upgrade to 400 V 150 kw charging which allows faster charging than the default 50 kw capability at 400 V charging stations.
