I have a shop full of Tormachs and the saw has probably been the best bang for the buck that I've spent. The only constructive criticism of it I can give is this. The blade drops pretty violently between cycles and if you don't have your lift height set beyond what you really need, it will bounce pretty hard and crash into the workpiece. This causes the cycle time to be a bit longer than it needs to be. Other than that, it has saved me a ton of time.

Thanks for using Tormach equipment! We're glad you consider our bandsaw as a great investment for your shop. We wanted to let you know that the issue you mentioned with the blade dropping has been addressed with the new AF50+ design. We appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that the saw has saved you a ton of time. Keep up the great work!

What's new w/ the + version? Obviously the new UI, looks like a new coolant tank? Anything else?

Besides the new and improved control panel, many of the components have been beefed up with parts from Taiwan, to provided smoother functionality and longevity.

I have the AF50 and I will tell you that it isn't portable. Pain in the ass to move. Not balanced at all to pick it up by the handle, coolant splashes everywhere. I like my saw but there are still improvements to be made. Bottom chip tray is to small, not enough clearance to clear chips coming off of the blade.

The new AF50+ on first glance looks like the same automatic bandsaw as the AF50, but it's seen some evolution throughout the entire product making it more robust and easier to maintain. We'll pass on your concerns about the weight distribution and the clearance for chip removal to our engineers.
