    Note: I know that a lot of PLDT subscribers tend to bridge their ISP-provided routers by themselves.
    There are a lot of tutorials for it online as well.
    I just don't want to do it.
    PLDT would give its users full administrative control if they asked for it and in return, they would give an Acceptance of Liability Waiver.
    PLDT gives out waivers for a reason.
    No matter how predatory their waiver is, what we are using as a gateway is still their equipment and therefore, modifying it's settings to use super admin privileges without their consent would conflict with their terms and conditions.
    **********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
    Update: I've sent a request to PLDT to replace the old ISP router after I bought this router.
    The new white version has native IPV6 support and already active out of the box and it's also dual band.
    Right now, I have my desktop connected to it directly, since the TP-Link router somehow slowed down its ethernet connection again.
    I'm currently getting 200+ DL and 480+ UL on the new ISP router.
    **********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
    UPDATE#2:
    It's been almost a year and a lot has changed.
    I've connected my PC back to this router.
    My internet connection have gotten a significant boost in speed.
    It went from 200Mbps+ DL to 620Mbps+ and from 480Mbps+ UL to 890Mbps+
    I haven't changed my ISP plan, anything hardware-wise and/or performed any software modification.

    Excellent video, your english pronunciation is very good, and you have added just the right dose of humor to make it enjoyable. I have a doubt, shouldn't I configure my ONU in bridge mode? Otherwise, I assume that I would not be able to manage ports and other advanced settings. Thank you in advance!

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  2 года назад

      Hello, Mamorunda and thanks for the comment! ♥ As per what I've read, yes. Setting the ONU to bridge is needed. However, in my case I would need to ask for and submit an Acceptance of Liability Waiver to my ISP for them to give the full administrative control of the ONU's GUI. It takes a long time and the waiver itself is predatory. That's why I did not bother to do it.
      There are also tutorials for doing it yourself, but according to my ISP's contract under user responsibilities, modifying its settings to use super admin privileges without their consent would conflict with their terms and conditions.
      I don't use port-forwading as well as of now, so... this would work just fine.
      For me at least.

    10:30 your problem is the category 5 network cable, you should use a category 6 cable to get the most out of your connection.

    Good Afternoon Sir, concern lang po ako, please take note of these, 1 Megabyte = 8 Megabits
    Hence,
    5 Ghz:1300 Mbps=162.5 MBps
    2.4Ghz: 600 Mbps=75 MBps.
    More power and Blessings Sir!

  • @BeeWaifu
    @BeeWaifu 2 года назад +2

    You divid the value of bandwidth by eight, not by ten, since eight bits make a byte. You get 162.5MB/s bw.

    • @generalawareness101
      @generalawareness101 Год назад

      Incorrect it is by 10 due to the old start/stop bits. How you can see this is when you have a 60 mbps cable connection and get 6 megabytes per second on downloads. He knew it was divided by 10 so good on him.

      If your ONT modem has an ethernet port, you can probably connect this router's WAN (ethernet) port to it.

      Hello and thanks for the comment! Hmmm... interesting question. As far as I know, wireless connection speed problems can be caused by a few different factors, such as congestion (the number of wireless devices in the area can affect it, yes, even your neighbor's Wi-Fi can interfere with yours and vice-versa, specially if many [non-local] devices are using the same broadcast channel), interference (physical obstacles like walls, be it concrete or wood, etc.), distance from the source, and a few more.
      I suggest installing a WiFi scanner app on your phone to scan your surroundings for possibly interfering access points in the area.
      PS. Forgot to mention to check if there's an available firmware update.

      @@HeathenHacks will there be a difference in speed if i request my isp(converge) to change my modem because i think its free since my modem is only a 2.4ghz band model and my plan is 250mbps? I heard that if your modem is only 2.4ghz the usual speed is around 100mbps. Is true or not? I have done the wifi channel analyzer and ive already change my channels both 2.4 and 5g to the channels that has less interference on other wifi channels

    • @HeathenHacks
      @HeathenHacks  Год назад

      I don't think changing your ISP-provided modem/router to a different one would give a performance boost, because you're only going to use it as your gateway. You're not going to connect anything wireless to it, right? Have you tried disabling your ISP-provided router's Radio/WiFi Broadcast feature? Try doing that and see if you'd get a boost in speed. Make sure as well that your device supports 5G connection.

      I've also stumbled upon this article: medium.com/@workrockin/are-routers-region-locked-9d64df609a15
      Well, anyway, you can always just sell your current router and then buy a better one on your new place. That way, you'd be sure that you're not violating any laws or restrictions. That's the easiest route, imo.

      Hello and thanks for this interesting question. Unfortunately, I have no idea. My best guess is it would depend on the Address class you're using, but I could be totally wrong.

    • @crazytechguy5735
      @crazytechguy5735 Год назад +1

      @HeathenHacks Oh, it was 64 MAC addresses. I just confirmed with one of the experts in the forum.
      Thought this was way less for a router like C80 and went to the market to search for better ones. Guess what? Even Asus ax5400 (around 200$) router supported whitelisting of 64 MAC addresses only. Haven't found a router that goes beyond this value.

      Here's how to do it on a PC.
      Step 1a: Login to the router's GUI using its IP address via a web browser.
      Step 1b: Click on the "UPDATE" button near "Logout"
      Step 2: If the "UPDATE" button is not visible, click on the Advanced tab.
      Step 3: Click on System.
      Step 4: Click on Firmware Update.
      Step 5: Click on Check For Updates.
      Here's how to do it using the Tether App.
      Step 1: Login to the app.
      Step 2: Go to Local Devices.
      Step 3: Go to the Tools tab.
      Step 4: Go to System.
      Step 5: Go to Firmware Update.
      If you have set your router to automatically update its firmware, you don't have to do that.
      Also, the connection speed limiting feature is only possible to do on a web browser.
