    Dude, if only 5 cm of spacers & a hand of seat post could make me half that good.

    My street trialy has a switch on the front too and it's always on, gotta watch that thing when it's parked it's always trying for bars spins lol love it dude also I am so going to a shorter higher stem not quite to the James Barton level but my 120 mm 17 degree rise has left me with more of a pogo stick less of a big bmx.

    You're a good rider, did you come from a bmx background? I want to switch to a trials arcade from bmx, what are your advices? I don't ride pegs nor do I ride skateparks so a bmx doesn't make sense.

      I have a background in nearly every type of riding, but I have a friend who made the switch from BMX. He finds the basic trials moves difficult, but he can do some very difficult streety lines on the arcade. Like super-tech BMX with front and rear brakes. It's a fun style of riding!

    Tip, the Avid HS1 rotors you're using have a track width of 14 mm but the BB7 pads are 16 mm wide, G2 rotors are 16 mm or you could try hayes or disco brakes rotors - could give you a bit more power! What pads do you run?

    • @jamesbtrials
      @jamesbtrials  6 лет назад

      Power was not an issue. Stock pads were plenty powerful and I didn't have any issues with uneven pad wear. I did have issues with the calliper developing play and jamming, which would probably be even worse with more powerful pads. There is a chance that that had something to do with the rotor track as you say, but it's happened on multiple disks with this brake. Now I've switched to zees for over a year.

    Hello. After several years of dirt jumping I descided to get 24" street trial bike back. Could you answer a few small questions? It would be very helpful for me.
    1)Continental DannyMac vs Holy Rollers? I have used k-rad and contis before. As I remember, k-rads were shit, Contis were extremely heavy, really expensive and zero punctures ;). But i have never rode Holy rollers. What do you think about them?
    2)In your opinion, which stem/handlebar combo works best on Arcade? I see you tryed a lot of combinations on the Colsole/Arcade
    3)What rim's width is the best for you? I have atomlab pimplites on my hands but they seems to be very thin for trials (27mm)
    4)Are Shimano brakes good enough for trials? Did you have any problems with Zee? I have used magura brakes before and I had tones of problems with them.
    5)Silver spokes vs black spokes? Haha xD
    6)Which cranks for Arcade? I have bent my Truvativ Descendants on DJ (both cranks), don't trust them :/. All this direct mount Inspired chainrings looks too much expensive and a little bit unreliable in long term use. Shimano Saints?
    Interesting thing. I have installed short stem on my TMS Silex after I saw this video and I forgot about trials riding for ~2-3 years..
    Just upgraded my dj and bought arcade frameset :).
    Thanks for your videos, really good motivation.

      Nice!
      Holy Rollers are light, but puncture easily. I use them until the tread wears down or the sidewall rips. Danny Macs are pretty bullet proof but the casing gets wonky after a period of time. Never wore one out, just wrecked casing. Between the 2 the Dannys were a bit better overall.
      Best combo on the arcade for me would be a 80x35 stem with mid-rise bars. The Arcade bars are really high, so add a 90x35 to that and you get that weird trials look with a super high bar and steep head angle. Terrible for bmx tricks, but ok for 2 wheeled trials stuff. I assume it works better if you're taller, I'm 5'7".
      I just rode the inspired rims, not sure what they are. On my 26 for street I run 30mm wide rims.
      Zees worked great. They got contaminated after a while but that was my fault. I run Avid Codes now because I find that DOT fluid is easier to keep clean when bleeding, Shimano mineral oil gets everywhere! Any 4 piston brake has been good for me. I blow pistons on 2 piston brakes.
      half and half haha, blue locktite essential
      Yeah I bent a pair of descendants. Not really sure what the best option here is... My second pair of descendants are going strong! 170mm length. Saints are sick though, just not sure if you can get a small enough chainring on them.
      Have fun! - James

       @James Barton
      Hello again. I have a few more questions :P. Still building my bike.
      Did you try Schwalbe Table Top? ;) A pair of new Continentals in my country costs as mush as 10 holy rollers (5 sets). It's just a madness.
      I have measured the bar height on DJ and street trial. Arcade with 80x40 stem and 25mm lowriser bars (+25mm spacers) has the same handlebar height as my DJ (Handlebar height from earth minus the bottom bracket height from the earth).
      I'm 6'. And i don't want to make handlebar much higher like 90% of people do on the street trials bikes nowdays. High handlebar just don't work for me.
      So, what do you think about 40 or 60mm Spank Spoon handlebar? It is pretty hard to find something between lowriser and highriser, lol.
      Or maybe you know some other durable aluminium handlebars that can live on the rigid fork without any issues?
      P.S. Locktite in the spoke nippels, srsly? Something new for me :).
      I am close to finish this low budget build (compared to the pike dj fork, ahaha). Just thinking about tires and handlebars again.
      Thanks.

      @@infectedbear95 yes, people run bars way too high these days. It makes weighting the front wheel for bunny hops and spins difficult. The spank bars are good. I ran one for a few years then moved it to my commuter bike (I switch bars after a few years always).
      As for tires, I’ve never tried the schwalbes. On the 24” I only ran holly rollers and Danny macs because those were what was available for me.

    which bottom bracket u r using bcoz m also having d Bmx cranks

    • @jamesbtrials
      @jamesbtrials  7 лет назад

      I'm not sure, it came with the bike. Is your bb threaded euro standard? If so, then you will need to get a bb that will convert it to 19mm bmx (if your cranks are 19mm). They are common. If your frame is mid or spanish, then a bmx style mid or spanish bb will work.

    • @jamesbtrials
      @jamesbtrials  7 лет назад

      For example: www.chainreactioncycles.com/us/en/blank-euro-bottom-bracket/rp-prod45327
      If your cranks are 22mm and you have a euro threaded frame.

    have u had any dents on your bikes small or big ?

    • @jamesbtrials
      @jamesbtrials  7 лет назад

      I've had lots. Not on this one yet, but I dented my old console a few times. It never broke at the dents, so unless it's a very big one, then no worries :)

    All my bikes have magnets. Well there is my one titanium wonder that I paid way too much for, but that's just for cruising. Obviously, beer cans and plastic can not be properly centered. Ride them at your own risk.
