New Legends was a classic that deserves to be on the list of must plays in my opinion! Collecting elemental weapons under a rpg style action game, was a blast!
Ninja Gaidens first boss is a beast. But after 50-100 times playing against him, you get pretty well acquainted with the mechanics, and things go pretty smooth from that point forward........ That is, until......
I still have my OG Xbox from when I was a teen and just went and got the power cords, more games and a controller. I just hooked it up yesterday and saw that the cd tray and game reader aren’t working, but it shouldn’t be that much to get my system fixed though. Just get you an original Xbox and get it fixed up and you’ll be good!

Everyone naming the entirety of it's library and somehow missing out on the game that I found most replayability on: Metal Slug 2 and 3. Still holding up strong in 2024, short duration games you can finish in a quick one hour session, enough difficulty to keep you on your toes, and loads of fun playing local coop with a 2nd player. I know they are ports, but still worth a mention.

My favourite has always been jet set radio future - I always wanted to play through shenmu II though i remember playing a demo of it back in what was probably 2003?
I had all 3 platforms when I was younger. PS2, gamecube and the Xbox. The ones I really enjoyed playing on the Xbox were: Fuzion frenzy Def jam fight for NY Red dead revolver Mercenaries playground of destruction Spiderman 2 Simpsons hit and run Matrix path of neo Max Payne 2 NBA live 2005 NBA 2K6 Also I thought Halo 1 story was much better than Halo 2
This is a great list, but Breakdown, the first person shooter/melee/adventure should have been included, as it's a really good game, and pretty unique. It's only real flaw being that at times it can be offputtingly hard, since it's difficulty curve is basically a vertical brick wall that is peppered with even more difficult spikes. It's rewarding to play, though.
I remember opening my xbox christmas day, didnt know anything about them... halo came with it and a random disc with jet set radio on it. The controller was massive and i could barely use it due to my small hands lol Core memory right there

doom 3 is one of those "impossible" ports for the original xbox. It's basically a miracle they actually managed to port it to the original xbox, but these days, unless you literally own a physical copy and an xbox, you're better off getting the pc version because any relatively modern pc will be able to play it significantly better than the xbox can. It's pretty much exactly like the half life 2 port in that sense. Miracle that it happened, but these days you're way better off playing the original version
Thief: Deadly Shadows - On the downside, the levels were much smaller than in the previous games, broken up into distinct load zones that the NPCs couldn't cross, Garrett lost the ability to swim, and he lost the ability to use rope arrows in favor of limited use climbing gloves. Those last two apparently being limitations imposed by deigning it for the Xbox first and foremost. Oh, also making the UI elements, like highlighting valuable objects, much more blatant. Project Gotham Racing - This may sound silly, but the guardrails everywhere really bug me. They're so out of place on what are supposed to be city streets, that they're annoyingly distracting to me. Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast - I liked the game (Windows), but like pretty much all games made by Raven Software, I hate the way that they put cutscenes in the middle of levels. One moment you're walking along, and the next, you're watching a cutscene. Why do you have to watch these moments in immersion-breaking third person? Why can't you experience these bits of dialog while still in control of your character? Half-Life is considered one of the greatest games ever made, and it has no cutscenes at all. OK, maybe the part where you're captured, but even that is from a first-person perspective.

Everyone I knew that bought an Xbox was such a major bro. They all talked about the graphics and how awesome it was going to be. It's funny you know, as a kid I allways prefered the og ps2 controlers over the big one I bought for co-op after mine main died. But now as a adult, if I so happen to play once a year the ps, I really prefer the big one because the originals are to small now for my hands.
First boss of Ninja Gaiden black was a nightmare. I didnt have much trouble with the rest of them though. Even the final boss, which i thought would be awful considering who it was.
I love the aesthetic of the OG Xbox but i’ve never seen a console that im so not impressed by the games. Playstation 2, Gamecube and Dreamcast have games that i love and want to play but the OG Xbox only has Halo 2. Thats crazy to me!

Yes, one of the best racing games ever imo. Managed to beat the entire game on platinum and it was the perfect challange.

Duke contoller was the best. But thn again, i can palm a bball lol. But it was so nice n fluid innmy hand. Better controls and aiming

I'm surprised there's no mention of the Tom Clancy games here. Rainbow Six 3/Black Arrow, the Ghost Recons, or the Splinter Cells? All better on Xbox compared to the other 6th gen systems.
