  • $15 off Oliver Cabell with "ROSEANVIL" - bit.ly/3houMzs
    Oliver Cabell Low 1 have been some of the most requested white sneakers for this series. I think it is mostly because of their price point of $188, that is less than half of the price of Common Projects. So I pulled the Oliver Cabells apart layer by layer to see how it was built and how it compares to the common projects.

    Hey Rose, another great breakdown, and yeah all this brands are making money out of marketing, but that's how it's always been.
    Also I'm a shoemaker apprentice so answering the question where you take apart the heel lining and the rest of the lining, and ask why theres a thinning on the edges, this is because that thinning of the leather or more commonly said skiving the leather is used in order not to make bumps in the shoe itself, because if you don't skive the leather and stack it on top of the other pieces of leather, usually it gets uncomfortable for the wearer.
    Please keep this good content, we all appreciate it.

      CP still have a better look. The sleekness is still unmatched. If you’re someone who thinks they look the same that’s fine, get Stan Smiths. The name and the style is what your paying for. You can say hypebeast because the brand is super hyped I understand. And if you’re only buying it for the brand that response is true. But you can’t buy the look of the shoe without paying the price. Plus they sell in stores so there’s going to be a mark up compares to direct consumer shoes.

    Really interesting to see. I still think it's crazy to see how the reputation of CP has blown up over the years. I have a pair from 2006 when they were known as the 'budget fashion shoe company' and 60% of the modern prices. Mine lasted 6 years of near daily wear, so I'm more than happy with the value for money, but I would not pay modern prices for them. Doubly so knowing that they are little different to cheaper companies and the whole aesthetic of CPs, in the last at least, was to be understated. Re: Shank strip, it's already a very minimal shoe so you need all the help you can get.
    I believe the shank strip is there to help your plantar fascia and prevent overstretching in the wrong places in your feet.
    The shank strip is there so that part of the shoe has rigidity when you walk and promotes bending of the shoe only in the front part of the shoe (ball of your feet), keeping the back ~2/3 straight when you walk and flex your walking foot muscles.

    Notes on Pricing and Profits. For something that cost $120 and sells for $190 is actually very little profits for luxury items. ( And insanely good value to consumers ) So in this case Common Project isn't make killer profits at all. You have to sell it at a volume. And that is where the equation changes. $1 profits is little if you are selling in thousands, but huge if you are selling in billions. Also worth mentioning these cost does not include marketing, accounting and operational expenses. They actually include Shipping inside the cost which is not the norm *but* that is the intended case as Oliver Cabells provide *free* shipping. ( Nothing is ever free. You are paying for it one way or another. ) It also does not include expenses such as damage, returns etc.
    Not in anyway affiliate with Oliver Cabells. And have no information or experience with Footwear industry. So I dont know if the $120 Cost is even true. But trusting Rose with his expertise on leather. Although I still think cost were over estimate a little, but shouldn't really change much with regards to value. Will definitely try and order one, assuming they ship to Hong Kong.

    After watching this video I have to say your the most trusted opinion in the sneaker game in my opinion. I watched a bunch of videos after this one comparing common projects to Cabell and koio and its funny to see so many ppl automatically assume CP are so much more luxe when you prove definitively that they really aren't. I'm looking forward to you doing a pair of sneakers by Greats or Buscemi since they sell themselves as the Hermes of sneakers and even based their shoe on a birkin bag and sell for about a thousand bucks

      Literally had the same thing happen to me. You have to keep pestering their support email until they respond. They sent me a shipping label for me to ship the shoes back to get the made in italy version. I shipped the shoes on June 9th. A week later they say they've requested my replacement to be processed. I then asked for a tracking number. 2 days later, they say they're gonna get me the tracking number as soon as the fulfillment team says they have it. Another 10 days pass, and I ask them again for the tracking number. Finally yesterday, they said my order has been processed for shipping and they would get me the tracking number that same day, but nothing as of today. From what I can tell, they're trying to offload inventory of an older version of the sneaker which does NOT have a margom sole and was made in Spain, but selling it as Made in Italy with a margom sole, hoping no one would notice. Well people DO notice. The made in Spain version should be discounted, or at least sold as a separate item. This company definitely has some things to change

    The shank is meant to limit flexibility and provide stability to an otherwise flexible shoe. It’s probably not 100% necessary in sneakers like it is in dress shoes (for example) where it’s needed for support so the heel drop doesn’t collapse overtime.

    I don't get why people pay so much for these generic white trainers (especially common projects) for high prices. The quality isn't amazing and I feel like the soles are so thin they will wear out in no time and it's not like people can tell (like other recognisable high end trainers such as Yeezys) without getting up real close to see the actual brand to be impressed (if you're one of those folks who are impressed by such things). Maybe it's just the internal buzz from wearing expensive generic shoes but you'd think the quality would match the price more.

    • @prakharsinghddev
      @prakharsinghddev 4 года назад

      i wouldn't call cp luxury but it's premium, and premium brands in fashion usually attract young people who wanna show off or simply like the shoe but most of them can't really afford it, the quality isn't the main factor, does it look good ? do you like it ? is the quality decent ? these are the things that usually matter when buying something.and overall the price of cp isn't that bad.

    • @zon3ful
      @zon3ful 4 года назад +1

      Short answer. Luxury. Quality is not the priority here. This brand is perceived as a luxury brand. People buy them because they can. Because they are doing well, are successful and want to show of. Regarding the generic look. Not everyone need to know you have a $400 shoe. The people who will recognize them probably own them too(unless you're really into trainers) therefore it kind of puts them on the same "level" if you know what I mean.
