Been Looking at the Oliver Cabell GAT's For a week to go with my ever growing collection of boots. I'm really happy you took a good look at these it made me a lot more confident to go ahead and get what I want. Considering a lot of more mainstream brands are starting to charge 120 bucks for fake leather sweatshop shoes paying 60 more bucks and getting real leather and real Italian materials seems more and more like the way to go!

Rose Anvil does a great teardown of the Common Projects sneaker and points out how they are incredibly overpriced and poorly made for what you are getting.
No white sneaker is worth $500. But if spending $500 on a pair of quality-wise mediocre white sneakers gives you some pleasure from the fact not everyone has the disposable income you do, then it is worth $500, mediocre quality notwithstanding.
If you don't like the price, you can always go for the Phoenix, which has uppers 3-D printed from old water bottles. OC also offers nice ankle boots with stitch-down welts for around $200. Sewn in Spain.
I am confused between Koio vs Oliver Cabell, read so many negative reviews on TrustPilot on Oliver Cabell for their discomfort, especially vs Koio which doesn't have any break-in period. Could you recommend which one to go for between these two brands?
Great video. I really appreciate all the on-feet shots. It helps a lot. I was especially worried about the area where the first pair of laces are at. In many shoes of these type the leather flares open.
Thank you for the video, just a question on sizing Oliver Cabell, if I am 39 in Common Projects, should I opt for 39 in Oliver Cabell as well? Thank you in advance.
Mate, I'm in Aus. Not too many OC's and CP's available here. A few days ago I saw some white minimalist RM William sneakers and was wondering what your thoughts are on them? Thank you.
I wasn't a fan of the 7 eyelets on the Low 1's. Same deal with the Beckett Simonon Reids. So, I was seriously considering the Koio Triple White Capris. They're cheaper than Common Projects, and I flat out like their look better. But then I remembered that I have a wife and kids, so I settled for the Beckett Simonons. 😅 $105 shipped. Just have to wait until August, but I won't be going anywhere for awhile anyway because of COVID-19.
If the Reids don’t work out for you, try the Greats Royale. They’ve been on sale between $80 and $107; usual retail is $178. Very comfortable sneaker. I couldn’t get the Reids to fit my wide feet after trying a few sizes.
Can someone tell me if the Oliver Cabell is a true white or is it a grayish or bluish white that some sneaker company calls it white even though it is not a true white.
Great video, great info; thx. I had posed this question to The Kavalier & The Modest Man & wanted to know your thots. Also, on the question of leathers, which would be better or more desirable between "full-grain tumbled calf leather", "Italian calf leather" & "Italian alpine deer-skin"?
Another great video. Regarding the sizing, I know what I wear in sneakers and I know what I wear in leather boots/shoes, so would these size like regular sneakers (Nike, New Balance, etc) or would these size like my leather shoes (AE, Thursdays, etc)/boots (Thursdays, Nicks, etc)? Thanks man!

Here come rose anvil references... that video is flawed in both sneaker construction knowledge and leather selection. Nick actually researches why chrome tanning is used in sneakers as seen in this video.
True, but there's still no denying that CPs are overpriced for what they are, especially compared to competitors like these. I get that CPs have a slimmer toe box and were the pioneers of the white leather sneaker market, but upon release they were nowhere near as expensive as they are now.

Common projects are way better. Customer service at Olivier Cabell is horrible. I was dealing with Catherine. Wanted to return the item and exchange for smaller size. I ordered the Oliver Cabell in size 12 and the laces are way too short. I went back and forth with their useless helpdesk who kept repeating the same line... that I don't need to lace them all the way to the top. I wish! That's not even my issue. Even if I lace them only to the second eyelet, I still don't have enough lace to properly tie them and that creates a ton of tension on the lace and shoe whenever I try to lace them.
