    It brings me back to the 80ies... My brother had a 944 and it was the first car which I drove and reached the 200 km/h mark. Loved it then, still love it now. Thanks for bringing memories back !

    Another great video, Janko. I recently bought a 968 to go along with my 87 3.2 911. The 968 is a different, but fun car in its own right. To me, it’s so much fun caring for and owning these Porsche classics. One day, I am sure to own a new one, but for now am really enjoying being a caretaker of the ones I have. Thanks again. Subscribed.

    Janko great video. I love the older Porsches as they are very analog and low tech. Something I can work on. I love the new ones as well but I have always wanted a G series or maybe a 964. Air cooled and something I can do the work in to maintain it. Again great video. I’m glad you tube recommended you. Now I’m subscribed and look forward to the next video.

    Are those the stock wheels? They look way better than what we got here in the US. Speaking of which, the original US MSRP of this car in 1991 was about 45k. That's 90K in today's money! Makes modern Porsches almost seem like a bargain in comparison.

    This was almost my first ever Porsche back in the day… but the turbo, I think this s2 is a better car for road driving, the turbo was full of lag and did nothing accept at the top end… so yes I agree, buy the naturally aspirated…944S2, if young people want to go faster, seriously just change your tyres first, this will add far more than tuning…and keeping it stock might even make a profit for you when you change it…., yes really….especially if you have put a little effort into cleaning it up…a nice video by the way Janko…

    Agreed - 944s are far more affordable than 911s. They may be a point of entry into Porsche magic; but in my experience, they aren’t the best choice for the money.
    I own a 964; I moved into it from a 924S. 944 & 924 are certainly good handling, worthy and gorgeous Porsches, but the driving experience doesn’t hold a candle to a 911 or a Boxster. Both 944 & 924 are under powered and too comfortable in comparison to a 911 of the same era. They are beautiful grand tourers, but not driver’s cars offering the level of engagement that a 911 does. Before the 924S, I owned a 914 - the forerunner of the Boxster. The ‘70 914 was a far more engaging driving experience than the 924S.
    My son has a 2000 Boxster as his point of entry Porsche. As are the 944s, Boxsters are undervalued. I would suggest that an older Boxster offers a far more engaging driving experience than a 924 / 944, and a truer experience of Porsche’s DNA. To my mind a Boxster offers a far more compelling ‘first Porsche ownership experience’ than does a 924 / 944.

    It is criminal that you don't have more subs. Great content, as usual, keep up the great work. Now, what if you are in your 50's and are looking for your first Porsche... Still, a 944/968 or is a 928 more suitable?

    • @JankoLind
      @JankoLind  3 года назад +2

    I had a 944Turbo for a decade before stepping into a Cayman R. 944’s are fantastic but they can be serious money pits. Only recommend to those that have a garage, as they disintegrate when left outside in all weather.

    Great car! However, I would change those Boxster wheels :) 944 S2 is not the cheapest to buy and maintain, especially for a teenager. Porsche 986 Boxster might be better option for the first Porsche. This comes from 944 turbo owner.
    P.S. Made the comment before watching the whole video :)

    • @JankoLind
      @JankoLind  3 года назад +1

      Hi T i,
      I've never owned a 997. The main reason is that it is too heavy. In fact, a manual 992 Carrera S is 10 kg lighter than a 997 Carrera. Not my cup of tea. I might consider a 997 as a daily. As I always say, there is a Porsche for everybody.
