@Spiritual Eyes vs Physical Eyes - Professor Sproul just spent 24 minutes directly addressing why this teaching is false. Go back and listen, and this time with your Bible and your ears open.
Read your Word hungrily because they will be coming for it soon enough and you'll wish every word was in your heart and mind. Jesus said, blessed is he who hears my word and keeps it in his heart.
mal'ak emeth - This is not only naive, but contrary to the explicit teaching of both Jesus and his apostles, who said quite the opposite. “To the law and the testimony! If they speak not according to this word it is because there is no light in them.” This OT principle clearly carries over into the NT: Matt 5:17, etc. Because the work of the Spirit IN us is altogether subjective, the whole point of an inspired text is to provide a uniformly accessible objective basis for what we all believe. For which there is NO substitute. It isn’t either/or. It’s both/and.
This should be the fervent daily hope of every believer. Having become obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed. I'd rather hear the word 24/7 than anything else the world has to offer.
@dennis3651 this might sound crazy, but even when we are someday with the risen living Word, I hope and trust we will still have The Bible in written form for all of eternity. Maybe in glory we'll all know Hebrew Aramaic and Greek in our new bodies and minds.

In no way can 70AD be termed a "return" of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is obvious that in 1 Thess.4 and 1 Cor.15 that our Lord returns FOR His Church. But in Revelation 19:7-9, 14; 1 Thessalonians 3:13; Zechariah 14:9; Revelation 19:15, 16, after the ravages of the Tribulation, He returns WITH His Church.
Those epistles addresses the audience who received them, as Jesus also addressed that generation. Paul writes to a group who were experiencing the persecutions in their day, and wrath which was about to come (70ad). He didn't write a letter for people 2000 years later, they understood exactly what he was referring to. The being caught up in the air, is metaphoric imagery. The air is the most holy place opened (heaven and earth was the old temple in Jerusalem). The new heaven and earth, and temple, is already now. In Christ. We are in Him. We can't be more with him later. We are joined. One. Union. Spirit. New creation already present.
@mal'ak emeth why is it ignored the saints who were dead that were Ressurected when Jesus went to paradise, the dead brought to life. Just trying to study without man's guess but by the spirit.
The majority of Christians get mired in the swamp of interpretive controversy because they don't have an overarching view of eschatology. Sincere questions: Is a Jewish view of "final things" escapist or redemptive? Need we be translated to another "place" because the Gospel has ultimately failed to gather and purify a people for God? If not, why do we need a "tribulation:? If the Gospel has not initiated a present and growing kingdom, how can we have any confidence in either the salvific or sanctifying power of Christ's life, death, resurrection, ascension, and final return?
Their are very few men that have had such an extraordinary impact on my walk with Jesus Christ. RC Sproul, Pastor John Macarthur, Les Feldick and the apostle Paul. Top of the heap! I look forward to the day when i can tell them all in person! ❤
@@alvinhickling901a rapture from the dead as in a resurrection into the air of life YES. Now, here’s the question: How many comings are there? How would you answer that? Two. The first coming was 2,000 years ago. The second coming is sometime in the future. There are only two comings. Well, I’m not going there yet, but I just want to keep it simple for the moment here. But Paul says, whatever he’s talking about in 1 Thessalonians 4 happens at the coming of the Lord. So, that will happen at the second coming. There’s a first coming, there’s a second coming, okay? And he says, “The Lord himself will descend from Heaven with a shout, the voice of the archangel, with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first.” This is a resurrection. It doesn’t use the word “rapture.” It uses that which comes from the Latin from this passage, I think, or maybe it’s from the Corinthians passage, but in any event, it doesn’t use the term. I’m not faulting the word, but we just want to make sure that the words that we’re using are accurately reflecting what the text says. This says, “The dead in Christ will rise,” so we are talking here about a resurrection at the coming of the Lord. And then it says, “Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together”-there’s your rapture word, I think-“caught up with him in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.” So, what Paul is saying is that at the coming of the Lord, those who have fallen asleep will be resurrected, so they go from dead to alive in the resurrection. But those who have not died yet will also be resurrected in the sense that they get transformed without having died. Why? Because it’s the end. Here’s Jesus. Pretty straightforward.
One of my late father’s favorite preachers. They are together now in the presence of the Lord. It is intriguing to wonder whether they may now ‘know’ each other. I suspect that being in the presence of the Father and the Son consumes us and far exceeds any present curiosity as to others we may have known of on earth, but who knows. I do think that we will get to know all of these folks in the fulfillment of eternity.
If they are together now in the presence of the Father, why would Jesus have to come and resurrect them? If when people die they go to heaven or hell why will there be a resurrection and a judgment? Such is contrary to the teachings of Scripture.

I listened intently here and the text that confuses me with R.C. Sproul's interpretation of the rapture is John 14:1-3 "“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." Here, the Lord Yeshua Christ is explaining to His disciples at His final Passover that He's leaving them but tells them not to be troubled about it. What is He going to do? He's leaving the earth to return to Glory He shared with His Father before the world was created (John 17:5) in heaven. To do what? To build homes for His people. Now according to Dr. Sproul's interpretation, the Church that is caught up will never reside in these homes because they're gonna leave and come right back to the earth.

Jesus is not receiving us in the clouds to accompany him back to earth - we are meeting him to go to heaven with Him. Yep, I'm listening for the shout and trumpet sound: I'm going to be in Heaven with Jesus before I return with Him for the Millennium.

The Scriptures below was fulfilled on the cross. 1 Corinthians 15:23-25 English Standard Version 23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. 24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

First, the church did not even exist yet, and Christ had not yet been crucified, when the Olivet Discourse was given. The apostle Paul (years later) taught that the rapture was a secret mystery. I don’t agree with his understanding of the rapture. One needs to understand the feasts of the Lord as found in Leviticus 23. Christ fulfilled the first four feasts precisely in His first coming. The next three feasts are the Feast of Trumpets (rapture) the day of Atonement or Yom Kippur ( second coming) and the Feast of Tabernacles - God with us in the Millenium reign of Christ. John 14: 1-4 is Christ’s promise to return for His bride, the church. This occurs before the Tribulation and is followed by the wedding supper of the Lamb in heaven, before Christ returns with His saints in the Second Coming.
As a "pre-tribber", I would respectfully contend that the raptured church is not just "sitting around with Jesus", but enjoying the Marriage Feast of the Lamb. Then, at the end of the tribulation period, He will return, with His church for the final battle of Armageddon.
THATS FUNNY BECAUSE THE INVITATION TO THE MARRIAGE SUPPER IS AT THE COMING OF THE LORD JESUS AFTER GREAT TRIBULATION. READ IT FOR YOURSELF. Hello sir For your consideration. You said Paul gave no indication of a time of fulfillment in 1 cor 15:52 as Jesus gave on the Mount of Olives. I think Paul gave a specific time when he said at the last Trump. The Jews have a day every year on their calendar that they call the last trump - it is also called the hidden day because they did not know the day or hour it would occur.
I think the last trump means just that, at the end of the Millennium which this verse is talking about, no more death can only be at the end of the Millennium when everyone will receive a glorified body. The resurrection (receiving a glorified body) happens in three phases (not two). Christ the first fruits, then THOSE WHO ARE CHRIST'S (the rapture followed by the judgement seat of Christ where those qualified believers receive their glorified bodies, the rest [majority] go into outer darkness/2nd death), then comes the end (final resurrection) when He (Jesus) delivers up the kingdom (end of the Millennium) to the father, and everyone gets their glorified bodies. This is what 1 Cor 15.51/52 is talking about, not the rapture.
The end of the Millennium does not have a resurrection for the righteous (Rev 20:4-6), only the wicked. I see only one resurrection (John 11:24, 6:39-54). 1 Thes 4 has a resurrection. One taken, one left does not have a resurrection (Luke 17:37) and it is pre-trib. Eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building and getting married will be greatly diminished at the end of the tribulation. We don't know the day or hour of the one taken, one left event. Everybody is hiding in a cave, knows the Lamb of God is coming (Rev 6:15-17) and is freaking out (Luke 21:26) at the second coming. Two different events. Maranatha!
@@onetakendotnet Do you think the ones that are born in the Millennium are all evil, no righteous ones? I think Christians read a lot into scriptures, what the word does not say. There are only 3 resurrections with the change of the body (1. Cor 15:23+24). What does Rev 6:12-17 tell us? The sun and moon is darkened and the stars are falling from Heaven, that is the same as Mat 24:29, His 2. coming. The mountains and islands are removed, the same as Rev 16:20, again His 2. coming. Rev 16:15 at the 7th vial the Lord is coming as a thief. Luke 17:29+30 says that both salvation and destruction were on the same day and likewise it will happen at His coming. There is only one coming of the Lord after the Great Tribulation (Mat 24:29-31) and Paul says the same, after the AC is revealed (2.Thess 2:1-4). 2.Thess 2:1 tells us that the Day of the Lord is His parousia=advent=2.coming and our gathering unto Him. It is one day with evening and morning, 24 hours (Zech 14:7-9). The hiding in caves happens after the world wide earthquake, where the earth is shaken and went out of its place and the cities are destroyed, that is at His 2. coming, when His Wrath comes (Rev 6:16+17) immediately after the Rapture. Two different events the same day. The Rapture happens at His 2. coming as the Lord taught in Mat 24:29-31, there is no other coming in the bible, only believe.
@@benny-yj7pq thanks for the reply. >> Do you think the ones that are born in the Millennium are all evil, no righteous ones? I would think there will be a mix of righteous and wicked at the end of the millennium. >> There are only 3 resurrections with the change of the body I only see one for the resurrection for righteous (John 6:39-54, 11:24, Rev 20:4-6). Always singular, not plural. Maybe you are saying there are three sets of verses talking about the one event? >> Luke 17:29+30 says that both salvation and destruction were on the same day I see a time gap between the "salvation and destruction." Lot and his family had to get out of town first. I doubt the cities were destroyed the second he left the city gates. Noah was in the ark for seven days before it started to rain. When the flood started I would think many survived for days, weeks until they ran out of dry ground or their makeshift rafts capsized. >> It is one day with evening and morning, 24 hours (Zech 14:7-9). I would agree the culmination of the Day of the Lord ends with the second coming but the destruction in the great tribulation is going to last for more than 24 hours. It will be like a woman in labor. The pains come and go with greater and greater duration and intensity until the baby is born (Jesus is seen in the clouds coming in great power and glory). As the seven years progress, famines and droughts (as opposed to eating, drinking), hyperinflation (as opposed to buying, selling), earthquakes, violent storms and heat (as opposed to planting, building), love will grow cold (as opposed to getting married) will grow in intensity as the tribulation progresses. One taken, one left happens when nobody suspects anything supernatural is going to happen. There will be mockers saying, 'Where is the coming?" They will be hiding in caves for much longer than 24 hours.
It's not what R.C. Sproul thinks or feels will probably happen, NO! it's what Jesus said will happen. It's quite obvious that R.C. Sproul did not fully understand Mathew (24:37-39) where Jesus tells of a pre-tribulation rapture. The Lord told us that the last generation of Noah's day knew nothing of the flood/judgment until destruction came upon them, and even thus shall it be in the day when the son of man is revealed, (Luke 17:30.) " AND KNEW NOT, " Jesus said. Mathew (24:39.) This means that the lords coming judgment is going to come suddenly, and unexpectedly upon this last generation just as it did came upon the last generation of Noah's day. The Lord also told us about the rapture/catching away, or the taking of the righteous out of the way before his wrath is unleashed on the earth, and said that it will all happen on the same day just as before. Scripture tells us that if the lord does not prepare in advance a place for the righteous, he delivers them on the day of his judgment just as he delivered Lot the day when it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and Noah the day the flood came. Scripture also told us that he use angels to take Lot and his family out of the way, and the Ark to take Noah and his family out of the way, only this time he's going to "RAPTURE" his family out of the way of his Wrath that is about to be poured out upon this last, and unexpecting generation. Jesus also told us what the days would be like before his coming judgment. He said but as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day that Noah entered the Ark and knew not until the flood came and took them all away. So shall also the coming of the son of man be. Mathew (24:37-39.) If we're not living in those days right now when it is still possible to eat and drink, buy and sell, plant and build, then those days will have to come after the tribulation which R.C. Sproul has suggested. And I'm quite sure that he knew exactly what Jesus said will happen immediately after the tribulation. Jesus's account of what is going to happen and RC Sprouls's account of what is going to happen are not the same.
I agree with Dr. Sproul's presentation. However, when he criticizes the partial preterists for spiritualizing the second coming of the Lord, he is guilty of the same thing when he talks about the Millennium in the Book of Revelation. The problem with most Reformed Theologians is that even though they got the doctrine of God and Salvation right, they simply continued embracing the Augustian and Aquinian view of biblical prophecy when it came to the End Times. It wasn't till the third wave of the Reformation, that of the Anabaptists, that the correct doctrine of believers baptism and a futuristic view of the End Times began to be taught. Infant Baptism is merely a carry over of the Catholic ritual. You see it in the Lutheran and Reformed traditions. Apparently, that aspect of theology was not a priority during the initial stages of the Reformation. Unfortunately, they never really took the time to examine the two doctrines from a fresh perspective, despite the fact that the NT is so clear regarding believers baptism by immersion as Paul illustrates it in Romans 6.
The Tribulation is NOT the wrath of God. That is one of the false presumptions of the preTrib Rapture crowd. God’s wrath doesn’t happen until he is here to do it. (2 Thess). The Tribulation is Satan’s wrath on the Jews and Church…..then it ends with Christs return to bring his judgement. Read Matt 24 which is for us.
A simple reading of Revelation(which was a vision written in chronological order) leads to PreTrib Rapture. Not a reason to divide over, though. Love me some R.C. Sproul
There was a resurrection when Jesus died. Matthew 27:52 The tombs also were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised. 53 After his resurrection they came out of their tombs and entered the holy city and appeared to many.
Psalm 27 you said yourself Jacobs trouble, do you even know what that means ? And if you don’t read Hebrew don’t even try to say things actually the apostle Paul wrote there ...saved out from ..not go through and this is the first time in my life when I hear that apostle Paul when he wrote to the church of Thessalonians to encourage them he didn’t think that the rapture it won’t happen in his life time , the way he wrote its exact what he said , and since he believe that he told them to encourage one another with this words , as simple as that , why someone try to twist the truth 🤷♀️, Jacobs trouble means Israel s troubles and the purpose of the tribulation is for the Jewish nation , listen to a messianic Jews and he will tell you exactly what it is and why , may God bless everyone!!!
Chicken Nuggets no actually Paul comfort them becouse they thought that the rapture took place and they were left behind, read in 2Thessalonians what Paul wrote to the church
Kenny - I’m with you on this one. I have faith in Jesus Christ, but not in my ability to figure everything out. Lotsa people in the world know everything about everything and aren’t shy about telling you so... I ain’t one of ‘em. I was raised in a pre-trib rapture church and was convinced of a rapture then. Later I spent 19 years in a partial preterist no rapture church and was convinced there too. Now I just say “I don’t know, but I’m leaving on the first bus out of here.”
Anyone answer this specially the none believer of the rapture??? Is this connected to the rapture or not? Mat 24:40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Mat 24:41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
I believe the rapture. But this passages refers to wicked being taken (in judgment) and the righteous left (spared from God's wrath), just like the wicked were taken away in the flood, leaving Noah & his family (verse 38-39).
Did you know that one taken and one left they are both believers. Read verse 42-51. Jesus is speaking of believers one is a sensible slave the other is a evil slave. Why is he a evil slave because he becomes involved in other things .he left his first love. Verse 48 and 49 day what he did. As to the taken and left the ones taken or unbelievers the ones left are believers. Look at Luke chapter 17 first 26 it talks about the days of Noah and the days of lot. It says the rain down fire and brimstone and destroyed them all they were taken off the face of the Earth only lot and his family were left on the Earth. The flood came and destroyed them all the unbelievers were removed from the earth in other words they were taken away only Noah was left on the Earth. Look at Genesis chapter 7 verse 23 it says Noah was left on the Earth. Jesus said when he comes back it's going to be the same way the evil are removed from the Earth another word taken off the Earth they no longer are here on the Earth just as the unbelievers were removed from the earth in the days of Noah and lot. When you read read a couple verses out of context you can really twist scripture you need to read the whole context surrounding the versus you read to understand what Jesus is says to get the complete understanding of what he's trying to say. people totally misinterpret these versus one taken one left. But when you read the verses surrounding those verses you will get the complete picture of what he's trying to say. This principal goes for the whole Bible. God Bless
Kelvin, it’s not the Rapture.. it’s the harvesting of the grapes of wrath.. Luke 21 speaks of the Rapture.. Read “The Next Medo-Persian Empire” to be Rapture ready.

Very Interesting! So if all who receive the mark of the beast are to be condemned, how do the believers stay alive during the tribulation? Where do the triumphant witnesses stand? If all who do not accept the mark of the beast are killed, who are those of us who are still alive at his return?
Most won't live completely through the GT. Those Christians are known as the 'Tribulation Saints' who are Believers, that will be martyred as witness for their faith in Christ for rejecting the mark of the beast. Believers/Christians are the only ones who will have the power to reject the Antichrist and his mark because the Holy Spirit, who is not the Restrainer, abides in them. Enduring to the end is not referring to living through the entire GT until Jesus returns. Enduring to the end is not departing from the faith or denouncing Christ, even in the face of death. There will still be Christians on the earth when Christ returns. Death/Martyrdom IS triumphant, as scripture states that 'they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony and loved not their lives even unto death... Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. -Psalm 116:15...Martyrdom is the highest honor a Christian will receive and since the first Christian martyr Stephen, ALL of them are still under the Mercy Seat until the last Brother/Sister in Christ is killed for their faith and American Christians are not exempt...Buckle up now because the One World Religion has officially been created (Chrislam) and will spread rapidly across the world soon even in America and the Church will be here...
20:21. No, Christians will not be suspended in the air and stay in the air “aloft”, during a “Tribulation” . They will be taken away to Heaven. And it is not a secret and it is not a scheme.
@@jayjay-bz3rr NO PLACE does it say we leave earth AFTER Jesus return & He returns AFTER the Tribulation. Foolish to think you're going to fly away on magic carpets to heaven. It's NOT in the book people. Make ready for the Tribulation. Don't be a FOOLISH virgin.
@Meet the Bible - Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth. - Revelation 3:10 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. - 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 And think about this, if we must endure the tribulation, then we would be looking for the anti-Christ, not Christ Himself! Is that what He wants us to do?
Recognizing that 1Thess 4:13-18 states that the saints rise into the "air", not heaven, is vital to the proper understanding of this passage. As well, the timing is laid out precisely by Jesus in Matthew 24:29
??? We rise to meet Him, but as *John 14:3* _CLEARLY_ notes, we go to where HE is...He doesn't come to where WE are; *=====>* "...where I am, there ye may be also". The church is not mentioned in *Matt 24.* In that text, Christ will be returning to earth where He remains for the millennial reign, _sooooooooooo..._ If there's no rapture preceding the 2nd coming, you just scrubbed HEAVEN from our future, & THAT'S where both the Bema & marriage to the Lamb take place.
No "rapture"/gathering together unto the Lord /Return of Christ until AFTER the Abomination. Jesus says so. Matthew 24:15-31. Holy Spirit via Paul says so. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8.
Malita Gerber can you help answer a question for me? When in the timeline you presented, does the church get caught up? If we stay to Armageddon, get caught up and turn right back around and come back (I’m assuming there wouldn’t be too many to come back for at that point because all of us will have been martyred)...at that point you would have only the people who took the mark left. So at Armageddon we come back with Him, and he casts the beast, false prophet, and all those who took the mark into the pit. So all who are saved have been taken up. All those who have taken the mark are cast away. Who goes into the millennium with un-glorified bodies to reproduce and refill the earth? Who will we reign over in the millennium? There is no one left.
In Josephus’ record of The Wars of The Jews there are plenty of abominations going on in Jerusalem by The Zealots for three and a half years before the Romans finally broke through in the last five months.
@@swansonseven2851The rapture is on the last day and the last trumpet which is after the tribulation period. 2 Peter 3:10 makes it clear what happens to the heavens and earth after the "thief in the night". He doesn’t believe some believers will not see death, like Enoch and Elijah. He doesn’t believe that God often times takes away into safety His people before a destruction.
in 1 Cor 15 where Paul quotes Hosea, saying "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" it is not referring to "hell". its referring to the "grave", which is what Hades or Sheol should always be translated as. just look at Hosea and see what the context is in which this is quoted from, and its very clear. Hosea 13:14: "I will ransom them from the power of the GRAVE. I will redeem them from death. O Death, where is your sting. O Grave, where is your victory. Pity is hidden from My eyes." its clearly talking about grave, and should be translated as grave. which of course it should. the grave has no victory, why? because of Christ's resurrection

It's very clear in the Gospels of when the "rapture" / resurrection occurs. Jesus said four times in the Gospels.... I will raise you up at the Last Day. @@williamgill_esq.6487 2 Thes 2:3 translations: "For that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first AND the man of lawlessness is revealed" OR, IS IT: "For that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first THEN the man of lawlessness is revealed" ?? Some translators chose AND, while others chose THEN. So which is it? The Greek translation settles it, IMHO. The problem with confusion of 2 Thes 2:3 is that the Greek word "kahee" can be used with DIFFERENT CONTEXTUAL MEANINGS: kahee; a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force, can mean any of the following: AND, also, even, so THEN, too, THEN, (etc.) So, the answer to proper meaning of 2 Thes 2:3 is to continue reading on, through verse 8. Since the Bible cannot contradict itself, verse 8 clarifies that verse 3 is best translated THEN, because verse 8 specifically reads "THEN" ("after that"). Now, one could debate: How do we know the reverse isn't true? Maybe verse 8 could also have been translated "and" (?). I'm glad you asked ---> because in verses 7 & 8, Strongs 5119 "tote" is used, instead of "kahee". and Strongs 5119 ALWAYS means "THEN". Conclusion: First the apostasia/harpazo, THEN the anti-christ is revealed. The Tribulation ("Jacob's trouble) is 7 years long, ("one week") beginning with the anti-christ confirming a covenant for that one week, and then breaking it in the middle (3-1/2 years) of the week. That covenant starts the final 7 years.
Matthew 24:36 said “But of that day and hour knoweth no man…” Now, read the verse just prior which is verse 35. Many, many people ignore this verse. “Heaven and earth shall pass away…” THAT is the day that no man knows; the day that heaven and earth shall pass away. Continue reading the rest of the entire chapter and Jesus says that no man will know the hour that the Son of man comes. We are told to watch and if the goodman had watched, he would have known. So, we can know the day but not the hour that the Son of man comes because we are Watching. Verse 50 said that the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he (the servant) looketh not for him and in an Hour that he is not aware of. Children of God, we are to look for and be aware of the day. God’s will be done

As much as I love R.C's teaching on the holiness of God and election, Eschatology is not his strong area in fact his own understanding of it has proven spurious at best. He makes the statement that the church that is called up for the rapture will not remain with the Lord and yet that is exactly what Paul says in 1Thes 4 " and there they will ever be" indeed the church will return with the Lord at His 2nd coming (the rapture is not the 2nd coming for we meet Him in the clouds). I miss RC but not his eschatology, he gets that quite wrong!
If the Dispenstionalsist position is correct, then Jesus is a false prophet. There's no other way to say it. Did He or did He not promise the priests at His trial that they would see Him come with Power? Now, either they saw the judgement or they didn't. Which is it?
@@waltjones40 It's a problem or Hermeneutics, the judgment only spoken about in this context in Matt 24 is at the end of the age and not in the same time as Mark and Luke they are referring to the coming Kingdom or the "church age" in acts.

Greg B Hi buddy, i agree that it's important to discern Jesus' words, in terms of who he was speaking to. Of course his audiences during his ministry would have been 99% Jews, since that's who was living in Judea, and since he was a great prophet of the Most High God to Israel, and their long-awaited Messiah. Too many people read the red-letter warnings and assume that they apply to everyone, anywhere, anytime. I totally agree. Particularly his warnings about being gathered together like dead branches or any other kind of useless rubbish, and thrown into Gehenna. But there are also warnings that speak to events still far off in the future, back in 30--ish AD. I'm not given to the preterist mindset, though i did examine it. I do believe that the destruction of Jerusalem and the scattering of the Jews was a large portion of Jesus' prophetic warnings, absolutely. But there can be no verification of a claim that says Jesus returned "spiritually in judgment." This is speculation, and certain groups agree that this speculation must be right, and teach it to others as bibilical fact. Just remember to discern between what is undisputable fact, and what is agreed-upon human speculation.
@@hellisalie1138 Yet the Prophets (Isaiah, Zachariah, etc. all talk about God coming in the clouds in judgement over nations such as Israel and Edom as well as cities such as Bozra. Those all came about as prophesied. Yo have to understand the use of Hebrewisms. Coming with/on the clouds is one meaning judgment from God is coming. And that generation was warned by John the Baptist and Jesus that the prophecy in Malachi 4 was about to be fulfilled. I think the problem is modern teachers separate Matthew 23 from 24 despite the same themes being carried over. How many times does Jesus say "you" meaning either the scribes and Pharisees (chap. 23) or His disciples (chap24)? He was not speaking to us when He said, "You will be beaten in the synagogues" was He? We do not live in the same age as the disciples did. They lived in the Mosaic age and it died with the Temple (Heb. 8-10). We have the full New Covenant, a new heaven and earth.

I hope many come to understand this correct contextual interpretation of holy scripture, as R.C is on point & too often people overlook the intended audience & the complete context, that includes historical, grammatical, prophetic/ time states & textual etc. Nevermind the traditional view of the early church & on, until somewhat recent when this secret rescue view came in like a storm or at least took traction
Jon-Paul Leigh, many teachers claim the Rapture doctrine is recent, so it must be false, and they usually cite Darby or others in the 1800s as proof. However, they never mention the elephant in the room called the Roman Catholic Church, which adopted Augustine’s Amillennial doctrines very early and enforced them on everyone. By the way, this teacher’s own doctrine derived from Augustine’s views. The Rapture doctrine (along with Dispensationalism) appeared not long after the Protestant Reformation when men could read Bibles in their own language again and discuss what God said rather than what Popes forced them to believe.
Jon-Paul Leigh: Dr. Ken Johnson is a scholar of ancient church documents, Dead Sea Scrolls, etc. He has some early writings from 2nd & 3rd century, indicating pre-trib rapture beliefs existed back then.

Question?? ..... Sproul said "Paul does not say that the Christians will be caught up in the air and then stay up in the air with Jesus....... So ... what does this scripture mean? ..... John 14:3 “And if I GO and PREPARE A PLACE for you, I will come again, and RECEIVE you unto myself; that WHERE I am, THERE ye may be also.” ... Where is Jesus right NOW? ... that's WHERE we are going ....
I'd first like to start by saying I'm not here to argue with anyone. I felt compelled by the Holy Spirit to present the Word as it is written pertaining to the revealing of the antichrist and the talk surrounding the rapture. If you don't agree with what I have to say, I ask that you take it to the Lord in prayer. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 "Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition," **PLEASE NOTE: "for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the MAN OF SIN IS REVEALED" - ANTICHRIST IS REVEALED FIRST. Matthew 24:29-31 29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17 16 "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. **PLEASE NOTE: "Immediately after(NOT BEFORE) the tribulation (Matthew 24:29)", "The Son of Man coming down/descending (Matthew 24:30 & 1 Thessalonians 4:16)", "And He will send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet/with the voice of an archangel (Matthew 24:31 & 1 Thessalonians 4:16)", "And they will gather together His elect/we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air (Matthew 24:31 & 1 Thessalonians 4: 17) (The POST TRIBULATION Rapture)." Let’s take a look into Matthew 24:29 specifically: “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” PLEASE NOTE: Immediately after......not before.....after the tribulation and before Christ returns the following must also take place. 1. The sun will be darkened 2. Moon will not give it’s light 3. Stars fall from heaven 4. Powers of heaven are shaken Neither of these have happened. Nor has the man of sin been revealed yet and nor has the tribulation taken place yet. Scripture CLEARLY tells us all that their is no Pre Tribulation Rapture coming to save you. This teaching has done nothing but condition the church to NOT be ready for the coming persecution by the man of lawlessness. Jesus promised us that we will endure persecution (John 15:20). Everywhere I read in the book of revelation is “to them who overcome” not to them who are “taken away”. The book of revelation also does say that we will all reign with Christ for 1000 years. In fact, that honor is reservation ONLY for those who are beheaded for not taking the Mark of the Beast (Revelation 20:4). The rest are resurrected after the 1000 year millennial reign (Revelation 20:5). If the goal is to be raptured and leave this place ASAP, explain how those who are “left behind” and forced to take the mark or die get the ultimate honor of reigning with Christ for 1000 years? This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Thank you for putting this so clearly. I pray for those that believe in the Rapture indoctrination. It is false. You have to stand with Yahshua and fight! You will not fly away. You have to endure for 5 months.
Do you mean that Christians who already passed away (without having to deal with the tribulation period) are resurrected after the 1000 year reign? They are not part of 'the dead in Christ shall rise first'? They're not part of the wedding(party) and bride of Christ, which happens (if I'm understanding correctly) prior to the millennial reign?
Hi @@rmc349 , great question. I’m simply quoting Revelation 20:4-6 which states that only those who were killed for not taking the mark of the beast lived and reigned with Christ for 1000 years. Verse 5 clearly states the rest were not resurrected until the 1000 years were finished. The FIRST RESURRECTION in verse 6 is speaking of those who were killed during the tribulation period (beheaded). Not those who died prior to this happening. From what I’m reading, only those part of the first resurrection live and reign with Christ for 1000 years. Revelation 20:4-6 NKJV “And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.”
@@YeshuaMessiah7 yes! I pray that those who believe in a pre tribulation rapture come to know that this is doing more damage to them than any good. In no way will the church be prepared for what’s ahead when they are taught that no preparation is necessary. If Jesus promised us persecution, why are western world churches teaching Christians to run away? Sadly, many will depart from the faith when they learn the tribulation begins without the rapture taking place. Many will look to God saying, “how could you???” when they should have been deepening their relationship with him and preparing to go through persecution for his name sake. Persecution was never a maybe, it was a promise. Bless you!
@@ShayMccarthy1309 Thank you for your reply. What you've written is clear and I very much understand what you're saying. I've studied the pre- and post-trib view myself and there are a lot of points to make for a post-trib rapture but also for a pre-trib rapture. In my view, both can happen as well. I'm not trying to debate in a 'mean way' and I don't have to 'win' so to speak. I'm only considering all of the points and when I look at the signs all around me, I can say that I won't be surprised if the rapture is (very) soon. (I will be very happy though!) I am however not 'strict' on it, as I don't rely on my own understanding. (Proverbs 3 verse 5) Having said that, we must keep in mind that Paul wrote to comfort and encourage the church in Thessalonians. There has been a lot of debate already concerning 'the falling away', but I'll type it out in a simple way: 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 "Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition," "...unless the falling away comes first..." There's a debate that this refers to the devil falling from heaven, meaning at the 3,5 years into the tribulation. That translates to Paul saying: "Don't worry, first you'll see the devil on earth." There's also a debate that this is members of the church falling away from their faith. That translates to Paul saying: "Don't worry, some of you will lose your faith first." That doesn't make sense to me. Paul earlier wrote 'comfort/encourage one another with these words.' That's why I 'indicate' Paul saying "don't worry". These are just my own simple thoughts on the matter. There is a study done on earlier translations of the Bible. It was the KJV who started with 'falling away'. Earlier translations mentioned 'the departure'. (I'll post a link to that study in another comment.) If you read 2 Thessalonians 2 like that, it starts to make sense that there might very well be a pre-trib rapture. We also have to remember that Paul was talking to the church and Jesus throughout the Bible often talked to Jews and His disciples. Having said all that; I'm not saying 'this must be it'. I'm only sharing what I've found. I have a lot of other clues. Almost for every post-trib argument there's a pre-trib argument. There are even books on the different views. (Haven't read them, but they're available.) In the end it all boils down to this: God's will be done.
Is this still available on DVD? It might go well with my study group.

And then it says, “Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together”-there’s your rapture word, I think-“caught up with him in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.”
So, what Paul is saying is that at the coming of the Lord, those who have fallen asleep will be resurrected, so they go from dead to alive in the resurrection.

Sproul's interpretation of the rapture is John 14:1-3
"“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also."
Here, the Lord Yeshua Christ is explaining to His disciples at His final Passover that He's leaving them but tells them not to be troubled about it.
A big u turn in the sky.
REVELATION 22: 12

Despite what many want to believe, Christianity isn't complicated. Love the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, obey the 11 Commandments, live your life as Jesus instructed you to do in the Gospels, and don't worry about it. Christianity ought to bring you peace, not anxiety. It ought to make you love, not hate.

But why disregard John 14:2-3, "In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also." - Sproul dismisses the fact that we are going to go with Jesus to heaven to reside in His Father's house of many rooms which has been prepared by Jesus for us. Jesus is not receiving us in the clouds to accompany him back to earth - we are meeting him to go to heaven with Him. Yep, I'm listening for the shout and trumpet sound: I'm going to be in Heaven with Jesus before I return with Him for the Millennium.
You are correct. He is taking us to the big house for 7 years of Tribulation. Then we all return together for the apocalyptic end before the Millennial 1,000 years of peace.
AMEN
"father's house " was not literal. Read it again in the context of the chapter before and after.
@@mnsa4321 It's referring to the betrothal arrangement in Jewish culture. When the bridegroom was betrothed, he would return to his father's house to add a room without his bride, until the work was done and he was ready to return to pick up his bride and take her to his father's house where they would have a great wedding feast. Afterwards both bride and groom would spend 7 days together in this room. One could argue that what Christ is preparing is the New Jerusalem which will come down from heaven in Revelation 21:2 because it makes a reference to the bride.
@@mnsa4321Learn and rightly divide the Word. Jesus says in Christ 13, "Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.” This coincides perfectly with Ch 14...3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”. They will follow later. Later being after Christ first goes and later comes back for them. This will take place at the Rapture. Furthermore, the Greek word for home is not figurative, but literal...Mone. translation is a mansion. This reflects the size, and type and scope of the heavenly abide Christ prepares for His own. That is proper context and proper hermeneutics. If it were anything else but a true heavenly abide, Christ would not have embellished with use of such a Word.

@@magriffing3497 Christ is coming to earth once. We are told he will return the same way he left and he only left once. Those who are resurrected in the first resurrection rule as kings and priests ON EARTH. We too will live through tribulation and will face the Anti-Christ. (See Rev. 20:4-6 - those resurrected have already faced the Anti-Christ) The prophecy of the mark of the beast was given to John 30 years after the destruction of Jerusalem, so we know that these saints that are resurrected are from our last days and not from the first century. We know the resurrection occurs before the rapture. If the FIRST resurrection as it is called in the scriptures occurs in the millennium as we are told in Revelation chapter 20, then a pre-tribulation rapture is impossible.

I've been talking to our children about these things. So much to being a Christian than merely attending a church.
As a "pre-tribber", I would respectfully contend that the raptured church is not just "sitting around with Jesus", but enjoying the Marriage Feast of the Lamb. Then, at the end of the tribulation period, He will return, with His church for the final battle of Armageddon.

Hello sir
For your consideration.
>> There are only 3 resurrections with the change of the body
I only see one for the resurrection for righteous (John 6:39-54, 11:24, Rev 20:4-6). Always singular, not plural. Maybe you are saying there are three sets of verses talking about the one event?
>> Luke 17:29+30 says that both salvation and destruction were on the same day
I see a time gap between the "salvation and destruction." Lot and his family had to get out of town first.
Read “The Next Medo-Persian Empire” to be Rapture ready. You’re on the right track.
It's not what R.C. Sproul thinks or feels will probably happen, NO! it's what Jesus said will happen.
It's quite obvious that R.C. Sproul did not fully understand Mathew (24:37-39) where Jesus tells of a pre-tribulation rapture.
The Lord told us that the last generation of Noah's day knew nothing of the flood/judgment until destruction came upon them, and even thus shall it be in the day when the son of man is revealed, (Luke 17:30.)
" AND KNEW NOT, " Jesus said. Mathew (24:39.)
This means that the lords coming judgment is going to come suddenly, and unexpectedly upon this last generation just as it did came upon the last generation of Noah's day.
Mathew (24:37-39.)
If we're not living in those days right now when it is still possible to eat and drink, buy and sell, plant and build, then those days will have to come after the tribulation which R.C.
Interesting point
So Anabaptists have it right?
Also, we are NOT appointed unto the wrath of God which will come upon the whole world in the the tribulation! 1 Thessalonians 5 verse 9
Yes...he kinda forgot to mention this important verse....plus never mentioned that the church is not mentioned at all from Rev. 4 thru Rev. 19

This is about judgement of sinners. The ones taken are removed or eliminated for judgement, while the left behind are the righteous.

Very Interesting! So if all who receive the mark of the beast are to be condemned, how do the believers stay alive during the tribulation? Where do the triumphant witnesses stand? If all who do not accept the mark of the beast are killed, who are those of us who are still alive at his return?
Good question.

19:05 - the "secret" rapture

- Revelation 3:10
For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. - 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10

The church is not mentioned in *Matt 24.* In that text, Christ will be returning to earth where He remains for the millennial reign, _sooooooooooo..._
If there's no rapture preceding the 2nd coming, you just scrubbed HEAVEN from our future, & THAT'S where both the Bema & marriage to the Lamb take place.

can you help answer a question for me?
The tribulation is not Gods wrath it is the work of man under the antichrist. The wrath of God happens after the second coming and the rapture
in 1 Cor 15 where Paul quotes Hosea, saying "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" it is not referring to "hell". its referring to the "grave", which is what Hades or Sheol should always be translated as.
just look at Hosea and see what the context is in which this is quoted from, and its very clear.
Hosea 13:14: "I will ransom them from the power of the GRAVE. I will redeem them from death. O Death, where is your sting. O Grave, where is your victory. Pity is hidden from My eyes."
its clearly talking about grave, and should be translated as grave. which of course it should. the grave has no victory, why? because of Christ's resurrection

2 Thes 2:3 translations:
"For that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first AND
the man of lawlessness is revealed"
OR, IS IT:
"For that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first THEN
the man of lawlessness is revealed"
??
Some translators chose AND, while others chose THEN.
So which is it? The Greek translation settles it, IMHO.
The problem with confusion of 2 Thes 2:3 is that the Greek word
"kahee" can be used with DIFFERENT CONTEXTUAL MEANINGS:
kahee; a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a
cumulative force, can mean any of the following:
AND,
also,
even,
so THEN,
too,
THEN,
(etc.)
So, the answer to proper meaning of 2 Thes 2:3 is to continue reading on, through verse 8.
Since the Bible cannot contradict itself, verse 8 clarifies that verse 3 is best translated THEN,
because verse 8 specifically reads "THEN" ("after that").
Now, one could debate: How do we know the reverse isn't true?
Maybe verse 8 could also have been translated "and" (?).
I'm glad you asked ---> because in verses 7 & 8, Strongs 5119 "tote" is used,
instead of "kahee". and Strongs 5119 ALWAYS means "THEN".
Conclusion:
First the apostasia/harpazo, THEN the anti-christ is revealed.
The Tribulation ("Jacob's trouble) is 7 years long, ("one week")
beginning with the anti-christ confirming a covenant for that
one week, and then breaking it in the middle (3-1/2 years) of the week.
That covenant starts the final 7 years.

Neither of these have happened.
Revelation 20:4-6 NKJV
“And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them.
(I will be very happy though!)
I am however not 'strict' on it, as I don't rely on my own understanding. (Proverbs 3 verse 5)
Having said that, we must keep in mind that Paul wrote to comfort and encourage the church in Thessalonians. There has been a lot of debate already concerning 'the falling away', but I'll type it out in a simple way:
2 Thessalonians 2:1-3
"Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,"
"...unless the falling away comes first..."
There's a debate that this refers to the devil falling from heaven, meaning at the 3,5 years into the tribulation. That translates to Paul saying: "Don't worry, first you'll see the devil on earth."
There's also a debate that this is members of the church falling away from their faith.
(I'll post a link to that study in another comment.)
If you read 2 Thessalonians 2 like that, it starts to make sense that there might very well be a pre-trib rapture.
(Haven't read them, but they're available.)
In the end it all boils down to this: God's will be done.
