i`ma geewunner but kinda like where some of the current stuff is going. my only objection has to do with decisions that have been made due to the economy. the "hollowness factor" that many 2015 figures have, and also how if they arent hollow, then they are often too small. Otherwise, i like the creative direction taken most of the time.
+Alex Larsen Pretty much, though some fans may not have agreed with the idea of characters not able to combine earlier given the ability to combine. That, and interests seem to be shifting towards the IDW side of things. They nailed it with Tailgate, Swerve, Brainstorm, Skids, and Trailbreaker, but most of the stuff these days leans towards mostly G1, with some RID, BW, and two (three if you count Centuritron) instances of Armada. I dunno, I feel as though I'm sounding like a buzzkill.
Excellent take, hilarious as always, major props for condensing that much content into twelve minutes! I think the lighting issue with the insane amount of neon glow on the figures themselves might be fixed with more diffusers on the light source, but I'm not all that sure. It's an insane amount of reflective green to deal with, even the official product photography can't get away from it without heavy post processing.
I don't have alot of money to work with so I passed on these guys and instead got the remaining 4/6 of menasor and 5/6 of defensor that I needed to finish my combiners
Nabbed the Japanese version last month thanks to HLJ's big sales that had the big green goober selling for $139. I couldn't say no. Pretty much the price of the western version with all the eastern upgrades.
Watching this has me afraid for the quality and jointage on PotP Predaking, but seeing as how so many of the transformation joints for P'King will likely double as elbows and whatnot, I'm feeling hopeful.
well the G1 version didn't combine with the scramble city sets either so this is basing it off of that fact. I am sure if they were to do all of the teams from G1 the Predaking and Monstructor members wouldn't mix with other sets either...would be cool if they did Monstructor with their pretender shells using Legend class figures for the set since the originals were smaller as well.

On Mixmaster the two purple window looking things are supposed to be the vents for the engine that powers the mixing drum. This kind of truck is called a "front dispensing concrete mixer truck". They are favored in the USA no because they can drive straight up to a job site and dump their load. There by saving a ton of time. Also, ironically, they are cheaper than the more iconic mixer trucks.
+Thew Adams I actually saw one of these driving down the road the other day. Not sure why they changed it for the toy, but it isn't a deal breaker. I'm digging my CW Devs, even without the individual bot elbows. But I certainly wasn't about to pay out another $80 or so for the Takara version.
I think they changed it for the sake of scale. Mixmaster's truck mode is by far the smallest of any Devastator component; like, look at his cab, and then look at the tiny cockpit on Long Haul or Bonecrusher. So they figured a front-loader would be a bit more unusual, meaning they could stretch its design a bit and give it a smaller cockpit. It's also possible they did it for the sake of a G1-accurate Devastator. Devy's character model has his left foot being basically an indistinct green block with a small purple rectangle at the front, rather than the full-fledged truck cab of the toy. The Combiner Wars Devastator's foot is actually pretty dead-on to that, since it uses the lumpy block thing at the back of a lot of front-loaders as the foot (which means the Takara version is actually less show-accurate, weirdly).
+DarkdustDragon It also makes sense in-universe, since Devastator was the prototype combiner, so he wouldn't have the standardized connections, as they hadn't been developed yet.
+DarkdustDragon Or to go IDW, the other combiners are Engima of Combination made, while Devastator is a crystalization of the Decepticon science project finally completed at the end of the war, built upon Jhiaxus's work with Monstructor. He's thus the biggest and baddest of the lot (sans perhaps Monstructor, but whatevs, he doesn't have a new toy anyway ^^).

Saw one of the trucks that Mixmaster is based on IRL, I can confirm the bigger "cab" is the actual cab. The rear end is some form of motor for the mixer itself. It's called an Oshkosh S-Series Front Discharge Mixer.
Jeez, I forgot that scavenger killed Prowl until you mentioned it. All I really know about him comes from his TFWiki bio, and that makes him sound like a sad fifth-wheel high schooler rather than a giant killer robot. Sometimes I forget that for all their eccentricities the Decepticons are stone cold killers.
I feel like my only complaints with this set (low detail, 4 guys with wonky elbows, and occasional hollowness) could have been addressed by scaling him down slightly. Even for voyager-scale, they're huge. Otherwise, I love these guys. (Mixmaster's bizarre choice of alt-mode is still a head-scratcher, though.)

I think your camera hates the lime-green color the Constructicons are made out of, because they look far too bright in the video to the point where they look like they are trying to glow in the dark while it's still light out. It's actually kinda painful to look at.

Entertaining as always. I was tempted to hold off viewing this video until the Dev' set on its way to me arrives, but I am far too weak in the need (ahem) for Thew-style entertainment. From what I've heard, TF designer Shogo Hasui, who's responsible for this set, feels it's his best work in the Generations line. You go, Shogo.
I can actually confirm that YES, Mixmaster is SUPPOSED to look Jank as hell. This style of mixer truck is indeed real, Ive seen them. The bit at the back, which looks like the front, is probably an apparatus for cooling or electric components for powering the mechanisms, or possibly both.

It feels like it tries to be as big as it can, but without budget to design toy for this scale, some components lack elbows, and poor paint scheme of constructicon (green and purple treads makes them look not painted, which hurts more if figure is so big, as something that big should have way more details) Hasbro wanted to hype up it so much, bit didn't even put nesesery work into it, I prefer third party versions.
I think Hasbro wants you to replace all your old generations toys with the new ones at the larger scale. Devastator, the leader-class seekers and megs, Titan blaster and probably soundwave, etc.
I feel like Devastator could do a redo. Maybe release the figures as individual releases so that there's more budget to spread around on the entire thing

It isn't wrong to expect more from a billion dollar franchise.
I think Hasbro wants you to replace all your old generations toys with the new ones at the larger scale. Devastator, the leader-class seekers and megs, Titan blaster and probably soundwave, etc.

Are there any that actually ARE Voyager Class? Or failing that, half way in-between Legends and Voyager?
Also, the fact that Bonecrusher's legs are green and not purple like Scavenger might be an issue. I know it's always been like that, but my point still stands.
