This stage’s theme conveys the following. No more games. No jail. No mercy. Its either me or him. One last walk through hell. For Dr Light. For Roll. For the countless lives lost. For the future of humanity. Albert Wily must go. No matter the cost.
Mega Man was going to kill him, but when Wily reminded him of the rule of robotics that robots can't hurt humans, his programming prevented him from doing so
That part shook me. I was not expecting MegaMan to be so fed up with Wily, that he was about to kill him. It just shows how much self agency MegaMan had as a robot, but once that programming kicked in, that set so much more suffering into motion
@@emisariox To this day, my head cannon isn't so much that his programming stopped him, but his anger at the statement gave just enough time for the base to fall apart and Wily escaping. Remember, Mega already had a FULLY charge shot. If he didn't respond and let the shot go it would have been over. I still sometimes think about an alt universe where he does this.
Actually, the cânon dialogue between mega man and wily Wily just asks megaman if he would hurt him for what he did after megaman intimidates him,but then megaman says slowly if he should actually hurt wily, thats why the english translated game makes no sense, since megaman never had free will to choose to hurt wily
He's tired. Tired of having to murder his robot brothers. Tired of the same old slog. Tired of being away from his family. Megaman just wants it to end, for the world to finally STAY saved. Even if it means doing the one thing a robot must never do.
A lot of people hear finality in this song, like "this time it's personal", and I can hear it. But to me, I always heard "man, I really thought he was my friend..." I feel like that's something some people miss about the game, that Bass/Forte was pretending to be on your side. Even if the writing made it obvious he wasn't, I still fell for it as a kid, and I won't pretend I didn't
That was always my take. This was Mega Man's pain at Bass' betrayal, and him likely beating himself up over trusting him and getting Dr. Light, Roll, and Auto hurt. In hindsight it was obvious, but I'll be honest, as a kid I was fooled too, and I was legit _hurt_ when the truth came out. The guitar in the chorus, I swear it sounds like its crying...
I like how this Dr. Wily Music starts off quietly then turns devious later making enjoyable pure classic In beat this game in 2002 I know it came out in 1995 but I was late getting a SNES until 1994. but made up for late times!
It doesn't sound like a common willy stage music because this one is more complex on lore. This theme is an allegory of sad and angry feelings to immerse the player on MegaMan skin and how it's supposed to feel with the betrayal of Bass.
I suppose the songs says "This is personal" given how Wily infiltrated Bass to Dr. Lights Lab, he hurt Dr. Light, the upgrades were stolen and Megamans trust on Bass was broken.
@@AstrosphereOfficial A reaction to large swaths of people hyping it up, pretty normal. Also MM2 Wily stage 1 was set as the gold standard for some reason, so everyone is going to compare it to that.
@@AstrosphereOfficial because it's the objectively best megaman music track, and all these pretenders to the throne constantly come up every new release, but none can stand against the true king, MM2 Wily Castle 1. I missed playing MM7 as a kid, so I'm only now as an adult coming into it and I'm bummed I never got to experience this song then, as I'm sure the added nostalgia would've made it that much more of an amazing track. The opening is so moody and atmospheric, and the more realistic instrument sampling is a perfect evolution to the 8-bit MM songs that are so beloved. Also, that is one incredible bass line. Holy crap.
How can you not love the slow build up? The insane guitar soliloquy? The Rich Synthwave Base? This honestly could be 2nd to megaman's overrated yet classic, mm2 wily stage
It’s been said before but there really isn’t a proper way to put it into words, the tune of this really sounds like Mega Man is just done and plans to put an end to this charade once and for all. He’s playing for keeps now.
I imagined after Wily calls Lights lab to gloat near the end, Megaman clenching his fist, a strong scowl on his face and him then teleporting to the first stage ready to scrap.
I love MM7 so much. Such a simultaneously cutesy and edgy game. Edgy in the good sense of the word ; you know it's lost in the grand scheme of the Mega Man series, but for a moment, it feels like it went from DB to DBZ - which was no coincidence, of course, since the franchise had just gone from MM to MMX.
When I first heard this song it sounds like a different game like it reminds some stages off of X-Men Mutant Apocalypse on SNES. But now I still love this song
damn, this underatted (by me too, I always liked MM7, but not gave so much credit to soundtrack, and liked only few tracks). but damn, this slaps, it's like MMX soundtrack, but more light and with classic feeling, but also serious. like Abandoned Memory from MM10.

OK Optimus Prime.

Would fit MM Zero 4 so good
To me this kinda sounds like Rayman - The Band Awakens

Best DR. WILY opening stage theme ever. So many people sleep on this.
Totally agree. The Bass line, drums and synth are too damn good.
Sounds like MegaMan X3 opening Wally song
Agreed. That baseline is so sick.
I totally thought I was listening to MMX in the background (doing house chores) and to my surprise MM7. This is a banger! With some melancholy.
@@ryandiggs750 I love dr wally
