What sets Grandma's Boy apart from other stoner films is that it oddly has a lot of heart. The characters are equally funny as they are empathetic and relatable.

Ah, the innocence of youth. I never realized The Big Lebowski was a stoner movie. When I first saw it my uncle showed it to me when I was like 12 I thought it was the greatest thing ever and then just the other day I ran into him again and he was talking about it and he's like you know that's a stoner comedy, right? And I'm like, what? No it's not. And he's like go watch it again. Lol 😂
i was like, "what could possibly be number #1?1?" then i had a stoner moment when it was revealed that i totally forgot about the OGs of the genre 🤣

The big Lebowski, I saw it later in my life but it instantly became one of my two favorite comedy movies of all time

Why isn't The Big Lebowski more popular? It has a dedicated cult following, but the large majority of people have never seen it.
I think it's kind of a slow burn, for a lot of people it's better on a 2nd viewing, and a lot of people just don't really rewatch movies that much. In short, I guess it's just not for everyone. And I like it that way, that's kind of what makes a "cult classic", it's not really widely praised by everyone, but it's reallllllly beloved by a certain group of people.

@@CuddLife it's a pretty loosely defined term, but it does mean something, it's generally a movie that wasn't initially met with critical or popular praise, but over time amasses pretty widespread appreciation. The Big Lebowski definitely fits into that definition, there is a damn religion born from it for gods sake. It might be the most literal definition of a "cult classic" that exists.
Because aside from the dude being a classic character and having some good lines the movie is sht... ....
You could say that about all Cohen brothers films.
“Inherent Vice” should be in this top 20. Has some great stoner laughs and some great suspenseful scenes.

If you haven’t got high on some real intense shit fear and loathing isn’t for you. If you have taken some stuff you will be able to greatly appreciate how real some of those scenes are.
Edit- first time I watched it I was 13 tripping on ecstasy and it’s something I won’t forget.

I can't believe my favorite stoner film didn't make the list. I feel like my movie pick is rated way higher in popularity than some of the ones this channel listed here smh. so without further ado my favorite stoner flick is... drum roll please. "the 1996 forever classic comedy "Bio-Dome" featuring Pauly Shore and Stephen Baldwin." Now that's a film worth rewatching! it never gets old and it's a hit no matter what generation is watching it. :D

Weird fact about me: I don't smoke weed, but I LOVE stoner comedies! "Friday" should've been #2 ("Up in Smoke" will always be king) and "How High" should've been higher on the list. One of these days I have to see "Pineapple Express" (Don't judge me).

The Big Lebowski is my favorite stoner movie and the first movie that I'll watch today. Then I'll move on to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (I was advised by my lawyer), then I'll finish the day with a binge through the View Askew universe.
