@@Free Thinker He answered it in a very short manner, but yes he answered it. As a LEO of 29 years in CA, recently retired and RAN to my beautiful new state of Montana, sheeple don't see the day to day atrocities that mankind inflicts upon one another. As we continue to brutally overpopulate the world (google it), last vestiges of beauty, freedoms, etc are becoming sparser. As a gang unit supervisor for many years, I can tell you, we had many gang members running dope to ID, UT, CO, WY, MT, OR and WA for the cartel. The wolves are everywhere. The sheeple are numerous and there aren't that many sheepdogs. You should be grateful you have a new sheepdog in your state. I had 15 fellow LEOs retire last summer, 14 moved immediately from N. CA and 6 landed in ID, be grateful for them too. I went to high school in a remote rural town in N. CA where we waved at each other in vehicles, everybody had integrity and morals, and were just wholesome good people. ID, MT, UT, CO have these people and they outnumber the wolves. I wake up GRATEFUL for my new life amongst good human beings and love being out amidst them. People smile and use turn signals, it's crazy.... but, again, there are many many reasons why I also never go without 9mm Shield when in the embrace of good humanity, not only for my protection, for theirs too. I won't let somebody from in or out of state walk into a restaurant, Wal-Mart, wherever and take 5-30 lives including my own if I can help it with my training and experiences. If that doesn't help give you a better understanding, just start googling some of the things I mentioned :^) be well.

Fact is that people there are great and nice and genuinely like people, but it only takes one person to be a violent asshole to make you wish you were armed.

Lots of out of state people come into Idaho complaining about how much their state sucks but then turn around and try to change Idaho's people and culture to be more like the state they came from. Although we Idahoans absolutely hate it when people move here, it does truly seem like they like Idaho the way it is and don't want to change it! Thank you all so much for having that mind set, as a born and raised Idahoan it means so much to us for y'all to be as willing to adapt to the culture as you are! Filled with people who appreciate the coexistence of nature and people. So many people are moving to Idaho, spacifically Boise, to change it.. not appreciate it. We are now the #1 state and city to move to right now and I can say that most moving to Boise are not pro wilderness they are pro profit. Protective over or wild and never ashamed is a true Idahoan.. welcome to Idaho!! ... I’m so torn about this.
I’ve been in Idaho for 7 years. Came up from Arizona and, as I always say Idaho is the snowy version of AZ. However things are changing rapidly here and it is not what it used to be. Californians by the droves our moving here and everything from costs of living to traffic has become more California by the month.
Even worse is the politics they’re bringing.
There’s people call the cops becausetheir neighbor's lawn was not to their standard and their quote to the police was “ Not California enough”
It’s aggravating since I moved here but I’ve done not one thing to change this place it was perfect 5 years ago.
It’s fantastic that you’ve got a 20 acre plot so you don’t get that crap from idiots but many of the locals in my area are essentially stuck because of what has happened to the pricing in housing and land😕

What if there were no canning lids to buy or gas for the chainsaw. Also mentally it’s extremely challenging to be indoors for that much of one’s life.we chose a zone 8 that has enough chill hours for fruits, but can grow brassicas, carrots etc in the winter. Deborah Ryan they may be fleeing policies which are destroying their state, but there seems to be some sort of cognitive dissonance which prohibits them from recognizing it’s the politicians THEY vote for which enact these policies. Often times people can’t recognize or name but a few of these policies. When they get to the next state, guns WIIL still be scary and social programs NEED to be expanded to help whatever victim class. Without realizing it (or maybe they do) they will be voting in the same policies and politicians
These things are always disguised by altruism and good intentions, but they will lead to the same end result.
Sorry, don’t mean to get so political but I guess freedom vs more laws is the crux of the political debate... Anyway, Idaho sure looks beautiful. Love the videos!

Goats love Christmas trees (-tinsel, of course!); in the town I just moved from there was a man that raised goats: following Christmas, he would put out a sign asking for donations of live trees.
In the south, it's also common practice to discard the trees in the lake (attracting catfish).

Oh Lordy! Y'all had me cracking up so hard and loud my husband turned around and looked at me like I had two heads. I had to pause to tell him Melissa is being funny. That was at the moment you crunched the tater chip. LOL And yes, I say tater not potato. 🤣
I get folks' curiosity about why y'all would choose to go where it is colder and snowier, but honestly they should be nice about their curiosity.
I already figured being a homeschool family that one of the reason y'all would choose Idaho would be for that alone. It's one of the reasons folks choose Missouri as well. But, honestly, it's none of my business why y'all chose Idaho beyond what ya wanna share. I think it's great your kids will be exposed to the harshness of winter. First hand knowledge of how to survive the brutal snowy cold is invaluable and y'all will have so many teaching opportunities in Idaho that will make sense in the setting available in that geographical location. One example is fire starting without a lighter. Go ahead, teach that lesson in the winter while it is raining. Yep, that lesson will make sense, right? (**sarcasm**) I know. I learned both ways and I couldn't care less when it was just cold and raining. I cared more about getting out of the rain which is the time to teach shelter building by the way, just sayin'. However, when you teach fire starting in the cold and snow there is more eagerness to learn and the pay off of getting warm makes the lesson stick.
I could go on and on here, but I won't. Hopefully anyone who reads this comment will realize the value of the location y'all have chosen. Plus, I am so excited for your whole family!
Ha ha ha. I saw the outtakes and came over so fast I'm here first. LOL

I felt the same way, when I used to live in Southern California and Northern California before I moved to a rural area of Alabama. Theres some downsides to being in Alabama but with that said, the pros of Alabama outweigh everything of California for me anyway. One great upside is about Alabama is I can open carry and conceal carry and I was limited to open carry in California only when I was in uniform. Here in Alabama I perfer both styles of carrying and I dont care if it offends people especially if I open carry. I love the humidity here and I love it how it rains all year round with exception to tornadoes but again the pros outweigh the cons here in Alabama

In fact, (actually I guess I shouldn’t say in “fact”, cause I haven’t checked lately, ) Nevada population is still under 3 million, which is similar to that of Utah which is also a 5 star state according to Skousen. I would agree though that Las Vegas is a terrible place to live.

AS i am watching this video , i am having flashbacks of my life of my younger days. , I did the exact same thing, grew up in L.A. California, never seen snow and never experienced freezing temps., never had to shovel snow, never had to wear long underwear to keep warm during winter months.never had to wear gloves and 3-4 layers of clothing to be outside during winter months. Moved to Nebraska as a teenager and excited to see snowy winters and meet friendly people etc etc. well now 40+ years later in my 60's now with a total different mindset of living in Nebraska. Shoveling snow not so easy in your 60's ..Trying to drive a vehicle in lots of snowy roads , many accidents happen..vehicles rusting out from winters here. I'd still never go back to California but just venting how I wish i thought more deeper before moving to a freezing state in winters, lots of people have depression in states with little sunshine in winters. Never been to Idaho. Will be interesting still watching your videos after your all settled in for years to come. Espically you having horses there in Idaho.., as a horse rider myself. Will enjoy that part of your videos. Yes I am watching older videos..Keep them coming, enjoying watching your new journey in Idaho..
