I rewatched that movie recently (called “Supercop” in the US) because it was the first time I had heard of this actress and I wanted to see it again. I think at the time she was billed as “Michelle Khan.” I had misheard the name and thought that Chinese-American teenage ice skater Michelle Kwan was in a Jackie Chan movie. 😂
One of my favorite stories of hers is how, initially Jackie didn't think much of her, but after a while she actually scared him. She was pretty new and wasn't really a trained martial artist, so she didn't yet have the deep respect of the Hong Kong industry that she has now.
You left out Angela Bassett - Queen Mother Ramonda from Black Panther Wakanda Forever. Her speech was beautiful, poignant, humble and celebratory of Chadwick Boseman's legacy. Chadwick (and Ms. Bassett's speech) will not be forgotten.
Personally I found her choice of words unnecessary because the audience was cheering and supporting her in that moment, and yes some will say things like they’re all Hollywood A list actors who act like they care and support her but they really don’t which may be true but she still should not have done that in my opinion.

I literally grew up with this lady. As a child I would tune in every Saturday for Kung Fu Theatre which always showed Jackie Chan movies. Then James Bond, Crouching tiger, Star Trek episodes, Crazy Rich Asians and finally Everything Everywhere All at once. I have to say, I don't know if I have ever been more proud of a person I don't know. She brought a lot of joy to many people and generations.

It's quite moving-emotional, and shows me just how much emotion she places into her roles on screen & off.

We are lucky to see an Asian actress break the stereotype roles offered and played as damsel in distress, who is always weepy and crying for help. Her action movies are to be commended because it paved the way for actresses to play more challenging roles and be recognized for it. Even when she plays a supporting role, her versatility shows her dedication to her craft. Congratulations on a well deserved recognition. ( Side note: she is also an elegant woman, in any attire).

Oscar nominations voting opens today, January 12. Nominations announcement will be January 24, 2023.
Screen Actors Guild nominations were yesterday and Yeoh was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.
She's also nominated along with nine other actors for an Independent Spirit Award in the non-gendered category of Best Lead Performance.
@@RaymondHng the Oscar’s have been snubbing Asian actors and actresses. I believe they refused to nominate awkwafina because they didn’t like the idea of her winning for best actress. Yet, they had no problem giving it to Renee zellweger for her campy performance.
@@RajaMCool Awkwafina’s performance in _The Farewell_ was not even nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award or an Independent Spirit Award. Michelle Yeoh, on the other hand, has just received nominations for those two awards.

I have watched and ADORED her for DECADES and am so thrilled for her! I recall the first time laying eyes on her in Police Story opposite Jackie Chan and she stole not only the movie for me, but my heart and soul. Love you forever!
Michelle Yeoh is one versatile actress of our generation. We are lucky to see an Asian actress break the stereotype roles offered and played as damsel in distress, who is always weepy and crying for help. Her action movies are to be commended because it paved the way for actresses to play more challenging roles and be recognized for it. Even when she plays a supporting role, her versatility shows her dedication to her craft. Congratulations on a well deserved recognition. ( Side note: she is also an elegant woman, in any attire).
