You just don't see jockeys doing thst anymore, and it wasn't a one off, zafonic, Warning, Tow Timings, to name but a few. He was a true horseman and he only ever flicked his whip not like the jockeys nowadays RIP Pat
What a humble and nice man what a superstar, He rode the brave the same way has Starkey did in the derby ,just timed his challenge better,I think Starkey may have also won the ARC I think he learned a valuable lesson in the derby
Absolute genius in the saddle and sorely missed to this day. Look at the clowns riding today compared to the mid to late 80's. Carson, Cauthen, Cochrane, Roberts, and the like or Murphy, Crowley, Moore and Marquand.
Should of asked Pat Rip. How the hell did he get Lake Coniston beat at Haydock in the sprint Cup.. I had my biggest bet ever on that horse. Still hurts all these years after. Lol... But a great jockey. He was all action in the saddle.. He rode me some winners aswell..
No absolutely not gene strachan.Lester was the greatest jockey there as ever been and ever will be.I am in my 80th year and have seen all the best .However eddery was certainly a great jockey .
If your horse had a chance of winning you couldn't have a better jockey than pat eddery. I wish hed have ridden a bit longer and passed sir gordon Richards record as the most winning jockey ever. Shame rip
Pat did not pass away , that is inaccurate and kind of adds some semblance of normality to his Death , he drank himself to death , BIG difference Chapman
@Cheats prosper yea, and there was a now long forgotten incident where he seemingly exposed himself at a kids party that was in the papers years ago and was then hushed up , even if he was drunk absolutely no excuses for that kind of behavior now or then , disgusting , drinking is disgusting , and now Osin Murphy has issues and Walter lovely hands Swinburn was the same , falling out of windows alot of drunks in horse racing , great jockeys but all had "issues"
@Cheats prosper Eddery left NOTHING to his 3 daughters and i'm not sure i think he had a b a s t a r d son somewhere?? not sure on that , but none of them got anything , gave it all to his gf :P what a charmer lol
@@darrenremington6422 True, one thing i've been against my whole life is excessive drinking it is DESTRUCTIVE he drank himself to death for what?? he would still be alive now if not a heavy drinker , you have to look after yourself if you don't there is always a payback somewhere down the line
Pat wasnt one of the greatest..He is the greatest ever..won more group ones and stakes races than any other rider ever
That ride on Celeric, 1997 Ascot Gold Cup is one of the best rides I've ever seen. Pat was a genius in the saddle.
