One thing I can say… I know it’s very expensive but all the parts and just the way the things goes together and mounts up it’s clear Mercedes don’t mess around. High quality stuff!
They cover the parts because people likely sell the cars after they make an expensive repair or before the part being repaired fails again. I would estimate maybe 1 in 1000 parts sales actually gets sent back for warranty, or less
Wow! That was fun to watch. I was nervous about the 1st start. Figured some of that crunching you were hearing when the engine was going back in was going to be your down fall. Hope you have a fun first ride with it.
The actual time he spent on this job has no relation to "book time" at a dealer that you would be charged. I cannot say for sure, but under warranty a job like that may pay the technician 30-35 hours (my guess). Perhaps a Mercedes technician can give the actual labor time to R&R both cylinder heads on this? I can tell you I've been paid less than 12 hours to replace all 4 pistons on a turbocharged, direct injected, DOHC, VVT engine and about 20 hours to replace an engine shortblock on another 4 cylinder, direct injected, turbo, DOHC, VVT engine.
@@ghostwrench2292 He was a Mercedes Technician, please inform yourself better before speaking, it will keep down potentially embarrassing comments, like the one I'm replying to
I respect most of the Kansas guys, but they have No idea how good you are, with the exception of the Ninja! The "wizard" should take some lessons with you!
It's one thing to see someone do this with an LS engine, it's another to see it with a Mercedes. I'm not a fan of European cars but the technical knowledge required to put one together surpasses that of most anything else (good or bad). Happy for you man.
Great work! Shame about the dead bank....if i hazard a guess I'd think maybe faulty coil pack? Mercedes uses non automotive grade components in them so they are really easily prone to heat damage, which then means solder joints can very easily crack if the pack is moved slightly! On a seperate note, maybe in the near future I can ship you my NAG52 controller to play with once I have it up and running! Should improve shifting a ton on the 722.6 boxes
What a beast of an engine is that. The C215 is not a small car and the fact that this engine fills the engine bay almost completely gives an idea of how big it is.

You do a phenomenal job of being real and doing really cool work on interesting rides. I find myself waiting for you to upload videos which has never happened to me with a RUclips channel. I’m stoked you have made this you’re only job so we get tons of content. You’re a true showman. Keep it up.
Does this use the same coils that tavarish had in his S600 that were like $1,200 or thereabouts
yeah
Ye
Thanks to Alex for giving me the confidence to try these projects! Just wrapped up a 06' 325i and started working on a 99' C43.
I can’t wait to see the numbers this puts down when you get it on the dyno. Great video!
Wow, Amazing job Alex! This is the golden standard of RUclips automotive rebuilds. Thank you so much for providing us this magnificent content. Cheers from Finland!
YESSSSSS!!!!!!! finally. I've been dreaming about this for weeks😭🤣🤣
One thing I can say… I know it’s very expensive but all the parts and just the way the things goes together and mounts up it’s clear Mercedes don’t mess around. High quality stuff!
So, so, pleased for you. Once you get to this point, you had done 99% of the work and only 90% of the problems are left to fix, lol
Wow man AWESOME. Can’t wait for this to be done. Also pretty excited for the Lexus detail video. Keep up the good work!
Hey Alex. Keep up the jokes. That makes it even more fun to learn and watch 🤣👍
I really take my hat off to you for taking on this rebuild - its a true credit to you.
They cover the parts because people likely sell the cars after they make an expensive repair or before the part being repaired fails again. I would estimate maybe 1 in 1000 parts sales actually gets sent back for warranty, or less
Awesome video as always. Love seeing the engine finally going back into the Mercedes.
‘It’s Alive!! Finally! Alex your a magical on cars! Hopefully you figure out that misfiring and get that beast out on the road!
Congrats! Sounds beautiful!
Like a smooth v8, with extra cylinders
I wish i had that much free time
👏 👏
Wow! That was fun to watch. I was nervous about the 1st start. Figured some of that crunching you were hearing when the engine was going back in was going to be your down fall. Hope you have a fun first ride with it.
The sensors on the intake boxes are charged air temperature sensors.
MAP
@@CastroJordan that would be in the intake runner. The ones in the box are temp sensors.
Hats off to you for a job well done. This is not average mechanic work. It takes a highly knowledgeable mechanic to pull this off.
I’m loving these 40min vids, it’s perfect to sit down and enjoy with your lunch. Great video as always Alex!
Superb effort to get all that done. Hope the misfire is something easy to find and fix. Can't wait for the shakedown run
You need to be more of a engineer then a mechanic to work on these cars !
Been waiting months for this. Awesome Alex. You are exceptionally smart, entertaining and a damn good RUclipsr.
Alex sounds like this is going to be his last V12...
A job well done Alex!! Made my Saturday morning
So he did 50 Hours × $200/Hr at MBZ Dlr, he saved himself $10K in Labor alone ! Go head bro !!
@@ghostwrench2292 He was a Mercedes Technician, please inform yourself better before speaking, it will keep down potentially embarrassing comments, like the one I'm replying to
FANTASTIC VIDEO!!! I cant wait to see the E30 and IS250 video!!! Thank you!
I respect most of the Kansas guys, but they have No idea how good you are, with the exception of the Ninja! The "wizard" should take some lessons with you!
Awesome Alex, thanks so much for taking the time!
The bolt on the hose that wouldn’t come lose…you weren’t tightening it were you? Love your channel and your work!!!
It's one thing to see someone do this with an LS engine, it's another to see it with a Mercedes. I'm not a fan of European cars but the technical knowledge required to put one together surpasses that of most anything else (good or bad).
Happy for you man.
These AMG's just need continuous TLC, so its found the right owner. Great work!
Love all your videos. Keep them coming. Keep up the good work. 👑🖤
Congrats, that is not an easy engine to get together right
Great work. Much effort to get to this point. Looking forward to the finish. 👍🏻
What a beast of an engine is that. The C215 is not a small car and the fact that this engine fills the engine bay almost completely gives an idea of how big it is.
best video of this sunday
Congratulations on the build
My number 1 reason I enjoy this channel is because he uses Amsoil oil products and in my opinion if he uses the best oil in the world he is truly a Car guy and knows how engines work so good on Amsoil oil.
I had all my fingers crossed just before it started. Congrats Alex. Can't wait for the next installment.
I love it when they fire right up after teardown...SO satisfying !!!
So so pleased to see this running! Are you the only RUclipsr to finish projects...?
