My S55 had an Accumulator fail and did a similar thing. The Accumulator has a diaphragm with 3000psi Nitrogen on one side to act as a shock absorber. When they fail they can send material into the line. I got lucky and found the piece sticking out when I replaced the accumulators. One way to tell you have had an accumulator fail is fluid will push out of the resevoir.

I havenot seen you testing all the actuators/solenois for action AND blockage...maybe the coils are open or fluid passages on solenoids are plugged in. or worst the suspension ecu is damaged and not actuating the valves...

Run the engine and crack the bleed nipple on the back until air spits out and new fluid comes out. Make sure the system doesn't go dry, this is where you need an apprentice on a ladder for 30 minutes gently topping up the fluid

    • @DAN1E77
      @DAN1E77 2 года назад +36

Did you blow the front to rear lines out from both ends?? Could be a blockage which you moved blowing from one end and it pushed the fluid out. Good luck videos are excellent 👍👍
I noticed one of the lines didn’t blow through straight away, it looked as if it jumped and them spurted! 😂😂

do you think now it could be a electrical problem with the system like the solenoids' to the back section not working .
this is not a criticism but do you think you might have got side tracked with thinking it is a blockage and over looked the electrical side ?

Alex, this is some of the best automotive content I've seen on RUclips. Most channels only show the wins. They don't show the long and frustrating process of working on complex systems or that 3 hours spent on a single broken bolt or bent electrical pin.

Exactly. The fails are what we learn the most from, not the insta-wins after replacing one common failure part. I'm sure he'll figure it out.

Verify the solinoids function in the rear block on the bench.
Verify that when active, fluid flows through the solinoid valve (Air hose it; Solinoid de-energized and energized.)
Verify the electrical cables to each solinoid are functional: Continuity test; Ground loop test (Checking for shorts.).
Verify that the computer is outputting a correct signal to each of the solinoids.

i would apply the pressurized fluid from the front block to the rear block to test the rear system. just switch the feed lines from the pump to test. or maybe the rear shocks sensors are not asking for fluid.

There's logic behind the operation of the system. Have you tried reseating the controller or relays associated with it? The valves are dumb devices which open and close based on commands given by some controller somewhere. Find that controller and or relays and remove them from their circuit boards, clean the contacts and reseat them. Check the boards for burn marks. Also check the fuses.

If you haven’t done so already, try blowing the line from the front to the back. it’s possible that something plastic is working like a valve and letting fluid flow only one way.

As I hope a "helpful" suggestion isolate the rear axel system and pump it up separately (did it work/not work). isolate the hose and block to the rear and put a test gauge on the line at the blanked-off end (did you see pressure yes/no). fit a test gauge to the output of the block supplying the rear of the car (did the block and line show pressure (yes/no). Be very careful of the potential for trapped pressure I have seen the result of pressurized hydraulic oil injuries they are horrendous and very painful if not fatal. I still think you have debris trapped in the block but it might just be a pressure-locked valve (with a bit of crud to seal the deal ). A thought might the return line be part of the problem if it cant return it can't pump/actuate the system? not sure on that one it as my oil field pals would say "git her done" it will run it will work

I just checked and your car has that one for the rear left and right most likey yours is broken causing the car to think its raised so it doesn’t let fluid build pressure

Thank you for showing us the frustration and disappointments that comes with these kind of projects. I know you'll have it at the dyno in no time. I believe, like I always have since the beginning of your channel. Let's hope the transmission can take 600hp after you are done.

I owned a E320 org priced at 58k it sat online for sale over a year in good shape/running other than pano roof issues... gave it away for 3k. Never Mercedes.

Hey Alex, why don't you upgrade your suspension to some nice coilovers or just standard shocks? It'll ride WAY better than some stupid unreliable hydrulic suspension, it'll drive like eavery AMG should
    Keep up the great content

Hi Alex, just a quick thought. do you have the necessary power back to the solenoid on the rear block or maybe a wire damage in between. Hope this can help.

Thank you. I was considering retro fitting my race car pneumatic active suspension to hydraulic. Not now! BTW, if the brake hydraulic circuit wasn't working, the 1st thing to look for would be air in the line right?

Looks like the diaphragm/plunger in the accumulator broke up into pieces and then 3000 PSI pushed it into the valve body.

Man! is it ever a good thing Samcrac didn't get this car! Really, it just shows how insanely complicated things can get on modern cars. That Land Rover that Sam tried to fix the engine on was another example. He even had a Land Rover tech helping him. He did everything right, but just couldn't fix it. I wish we could have followed that car to see whatever became of it.

Might sound stupid, but could you have an airlock in a valve block or something? Just crazy that the system is still refusing to work after all you've done with it Alex. You're a patient man, I think I'd have burnt it to the ground by now 🤣

I remember the Car Wizard saying that there is a jack mode for cars with hydraulic suspension and if you jack it up with it not being in jack mode then the computer needs recalibration. Could this have happened at some point?

Are you certain all the fuses are good? Is there voltage and ground at each solenoid at the right time? This stinks of an electrical control root cause.
