New Line Cinema’s “The Many Saints of Newark” is the much-anticipated feature film prequel to David Chase’s groundbreaking, award-winning HBO drama series “The Sopranos.”
Young Anthony Soprano is growing up in one of the most tumultuous eras in Newark’s history, becoming a man just as rival gangsters begin to rise up and challenge the all-powerful DiMeo crime family’s hold over the increasingly race-torn city. Caught up in the changing times is the uncle he idolizes, Dickie Moltisanti, who struggles to manage both his professional and personal responsibilities-and whose influence over his nephew will help make the impressionable teenager into the all-powerful mob boss we’ll later come to know: Tony Soprano.
“The Many Saints of Newark” stars Alessandro Nivola (“Disobedience,” “American Hustle”), Tony winner Leslie Odom Jr. (Broadway’s “Hamilton,” “Murder on the Orient Express”), Jon Bernthal (“Baby Driver,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”), Corey Stoll (“First Man,” “Ant-Man”), Michael Gandolfini (TV’s “The Deuce”), Billy Magnussen (“Game Night,” “The Big Short”), Michela De Rossi (“Boys Cry,” TV’s “The Rats”), John Magaro (“The Finest Hours,” “Not Fade Away”), with Emmy winner Ray Liotta (TV’s “Shades of Blue,” “Goodfellas”) and Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (“Up in the Air,” “The Conjuring” films).
Alan Taylor (“Thor: The Dark World”), who won an Emmy for his directing work on “The Sopranos,” is helming the film from a screenplay by series creator David Chase & Lawrence Konner, based on characters created by Chase. Chase, Konner and Nicole Lambert are producing the film, with Michael Disco, Marcus Viscidi, Toby Emmerich and Richard Brener serving as executive producers.
Taylor’s behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Kramer Morgenthau (“Creed II,” “Thor: The Dark World”), production designer Bob Shaw (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” “The Sopranos”), Oscar-nominated editor Christopher Tellefsen (“Moneyball,” “A Quiet Place”) and costume designer Amy Westcott (“The Wrestler,” “Black Swan”).
“The Many Saints of Newark” was shot on location in New Jersey and New York, and several beloved characters from the original series that inspired the film are featured in the movie. During its six-season run, “The Sopranos”-widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential television drama series of all time-was honored with 21 Primetime Emmy Awards, five Golden Globe Awards, and two Peabody Awards, to name only a portion.
New Line Cinema Presents, In Association with Home Box Office, a Chase Films Production, “The Many Saints of Newark.” The film is slated for release in theaters nationwide on October 1, 2021 and will be available in the U.S. on HBO Max for 31 days from theatrical release. It is being distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and has been rated R for strong violence, pervasive language, sexual content and some nudity. - Кино

This trailer is everything I wanted the movie to be
Ok this trailer gave me chills. Seeing James’s kid play him and look so much like him is surreal. Sopranos is still my all time favorite show.
Mitt Romney?? UGH...😝🤮
Amen to that. He and this movie look incredible!!
He’s the spitting image!
The only thing that worries me, is his acting chops.
Just when he says things and his mouth moves with his dad's moves when he says I can't be caught with that s*** oh my God it's Tony. My God and then the other trailer where is baby Christopher some babies are born with knowing stuff from the other side I'm like yeah he's got some stories to tell too bad he won't remember then with all the drugs he snorts
If only James was alive to see his son following his legacy
Amen ☝🏻
So true, James would be so proud of his Michael play Tony Soprano and they both have the same mannersims like Tony. I can't wait for this!
He didnt want this life for his son
Damn I didn't know that he had passed and I wouldn't have known his son was playing a young tony
Is it alright if is sit down Tone ?
I can’t feel my legs
Love it!! Wished it was longer !!
Great video as always, here is one for Spooner:
Why does Santa do so well in sales?
He's great at wrapping up deals!
Michael Gandolfini to the directors when auditioning for this film:
"Do you know who my fawtuh is?"
Jackie JR would be proud
I'm only accepting this role out of respect to my fawtha
The golfer? US Open?
@@Alexibanezzz no my father never had the makings of a varsity athlete

The way livia scoffs at the idea of Tony having a high IQ, but still keeps all of his school work and varsity letters, and not Janice and Barbara’s, really says something about her. I don’t think it’s cause she loved Tony the most, but because she wanted to brag about it, considering that Animal ( I can’t even say his name.) bludenttos mother was always bragging about his high IQ
Livia definitely had BPD
It’s classic of narcissistic parents to show off their kids successes as their own. The kid is seen as an extension of them when they have accomplishments.
That makes sense and that's actually one of the major question marks when it comes to Livia. Did she actually love someone?...
As far as we know she kept those letters hidden, at least towards the end of her life. What's the point then?
When you look at her relationship with Janice, the one kid she actually disliked, it actually shows that when Livia hates a kid she pushes them away, she doesn't try to have them killed. She never pushed Tony away, far from it, Carmella forced some distance in between them, same with Barbara's husband.
I think she just couldn't stand to let Tony make decisions for her like putting her in Green Grove. Not only couldn't she control/manipulate him anymore, he was now the one in charge of her.
She was a crazy depressed control freak but I think she loved him in some messed up destructive way.
After all she did try to hug him towards the end.
I am very interested in seeing how Vera Farminga goes about portraying Livia.
You just did, Janice. Wrap it up!
Ending theme song gave me chills!
Feels like it’s starting all over again
It’s not though

It wasn't as good as I thought it would be
Every reaction
Can’t wait to see what Paulie was like before he learnt those “coping skills”
I saw a theory a while ago that Dickie used to bully Paulie which is why Paulie bullies Chris. I would love to see that
@@taylorherod6995 Itd make sense why he felt so guilty after Chrissy died
He had a few issues...
the acting on Tony's mother is incredible... exactly like Livia but with a touch of Carmella about her delivery and presence... sure Melfi would have something to say about that 😂
Ha! I was just thinking she looked a lot like Carmella there too, also a bit like Melfi too...the plot thickens....
I thought it WAS Edie Falco at first.
So much like Edie Falco
You marry your own mother
Nahh.. Vera Farmiga looks more like Edie Falco than Liva Soprano
The Sylvio character felt like I was watching a Mad TV script back in the day. Movie was very disappointing to me. Luckily I caught it for free on my Cinema app.
They messed up this would have been a perfect series
The fact that Junior kept the exact same wallpaper and furniture for the TV series 25+ years later is simply divine! If it ain't broke don't fix it, huh?
James Gandolfini would be proud of his son playing one his greatest characters and also i think he would be proud of this movie.
He truly would.
100% I can fully see James in his son. Makes it more believable for us that he’s playing a young Tony. So hype for this movie!
@Qanon for morons here's hoping the success of the film turns into a series
Amen to that sir
What a insightful comment.
Man the soundtrack that good ole back in the day classic rock. Hadn’t heard those songs in years and the Mr. Softee truck I’ll never forget that jingle as long as I live.
“The 60s ended and Neil Young made that speech on the moon” even as Chris narrates his sense of history, still, lol
I was like "Man, this kid looks just like Tony." I can't believe Gandolfini's son is playing him. This is perfect.
The original Tony Soprano, James Gandolfini must be watching high above the clouds and being proud of his son.
He wasnt much more than a junkie.....lets be real about the great James Gandolfini.
@@bedmanokc said by a random stranger on an app watching his son in a movie trailer lol get over yourself
I agree
RIP James Gandolfini
He actually discouraged his son from acting.
The movie’s supposed to be about how Tony Soprano got started, so why was Tony Soprano barely in it?
Gotta loves Livia’s snoring when the teacher praised his son 😂😂😂
Nothing to love about this movie.
It was a shambles.
