That late night post! Sorry this vid was so short! Got some long vids coming this week!!
Where are the shifter carts?
Any hints on what's to come
I wanna see the shifter carts vs the golf carts
I am not upset I just got home from afternoon shift so it works out perfectly. Thanks Garrett. Sincerely, Jeff from western Pennsylvania
I bought a f150 with a "bad fuel pump". Also had no gas. I filled it with gas and hit the fuel tank mallet and it started working
Jame’s review: absolutely priceless...
“Take that nail outta that tire, and it’s ready to race”
The funny thing is it's not a nail. It's a screw.
Give Liam the pace car it's for kids
The best part of this vid was the two short "burnouts" at the end...EPIC!!!!

Richard Joseph that wouldn’t be a bad thing to copy. A lot of race local tracks are going under. Why not try to bring back what was once great.
I think he needs to get a brush apparatus or something, because he catches a lot of stuff on fire.
Can you rebuild Rockingham next. Do it for dale !!
Dutch Cobb a lot of them refuse to get with the times, there’s a track local that was going under, they sold out and the new owners started doing all kinds of new events. Private autocross. Monster demo derby enduros, all kinda of special stuff and have been doing well since, they make enough on one of the two eves of destruction to run the entire season
That's the broom buggy.
It's for cleaning up oil from blown motors.
Go slow to put down the oil dry and run it in with the broom at a high speed.
I drove it years ago.
They were sort of taking the piss out of it a bit, but honestly I think it's fucking awesome!

Man, I hope Nitto sees the marketing potential in giving you tires for all these vehicles.
They've already got a tire sponsor I thought.. or maybe that was only for one event? Idk.
Nitto has sponsored them. He said it when he announced the FF.
@@getchasome6230 Its one thing to sponsor, its another to provide tires.
@@Parker-time A good supply of tires would cost considerably less than a "sponsorship" deal for this channel and it's owner. Tires at $200/ea. are only a drop in the bucket and Nitto's production costs per tire is likely 1/3rd of that or less. I'm certain that Nitto would be thrilled to just throw some tires Cleetus' way to get the exposure.
Why do have the feeling many many years from now they'll be talking about these guys as giants in the auto sports.
And to think it all started with whistles in the tail pipe of a corvette.

That throttle "Pedal" is actually an OG Pedal that alot of VW owners installed. Both customized street VW's and sandrails :) I had one on my 70 Bug
What is rge purpose of that?
@@mihailpetrovici5044 for me the original was sticking and needed replaced. now I'll never have that issue.
Chaun Ralls those throttle pedals actually work great. It looks scary in this video but it really is not
It helps when you have really big feet to get heel toes and do fun stuff with the pedals since there so close together. Stock pedals don’t like to cooperate with that.
Right when I saw the pedal my first thought was, I wonder if this is VW powered?
Not to many successful NASCAR drivers even own a oval track. This is special !

The f150 has a fuel pump shut off switch in the passenger side kick panel, if the fuel pump s weak it will trip that switch... push the red button back in and see if the fuel pump will run again, then pull the bed off and do a new pump... will be good as new
I feel that if the fuel pump is bad they will cut a hole in the bet, Cleetus style.
My fathers 04 f150 v6 has had its pump replaced twice, lifting the bed is easy. Can easily be done in less than an hour.
@@Looptydude Agreed. I've done the pump on my Ranger a few times and with a Torx on an impact gun and a buddy to help move the bed it's a really quick job. Would be way more work chopping a hole in the bed.

Cleetus, most of the paved tracks in florida used this configuration for a track car. I think they used them all the way back in the late 70s, I remember Herb at New Smyrna building them. They were quite rugged for the day.

It’s genuinely exciting to see this new venture for you, someone I barely know. I wish you all the very best and hope to make it out some day.
The rail buggy is likely a chenowth factory frame. Most owners bought the frame and added the drivetrain at home. The frames were factory, but each buggy is custom built, and most are highly modified. They take several sized vw engines, and convert to other brand engines.
The engine runs best when its warm. The handling on the buggy is sketchy because the buggy is rear end heavy for off road use. When you nail the throttle the front wheels do not touch, much. It is best to use bald skinny front tires to keep debris out of the passenger area, especially at high speed. That buggy should top 100mph with the right gear/wheel ratio.
It is best, also, that your front tires are slightly taller than the rear wheels.
It will run, with a snorkel, through water. The buggy sounds pretty good. It does run on points, so they need adjustments, at times. Convert to electronic ignition, and the motor will run top notch.
A dune buggy is terrible for burnouts, on concrete, because they are built for rear traction. Most have posi traction. The buggy will do burnouts, offroad, all day long. The buggy isnt as bad as most people think, but You have some custom work to make it yours. It is a vehicle for off road, at its core.
These guys are a little to young to know anything about this vehicle. Had to live in the 80's and 90's. Owned one myself and was street legal. Someone stole it from when it was parked on the lawn in my front yard.
@@neilrucker4149 Too bad, about your buggy. I suspect you could predict the first repair they will be making when the buggy gets "burned out." I say clutch plate.
@@coachbrandon01 After a few clutch cables. I would carry an extra cable in my 66 VW.
This is so much fun actually. I can't wait until they do a live driver cam on the 100 mph test run.
'...That buggy should top 100mph..'
I also suggest a face shield or race goggles so the driver can see.
@@pensive69 My buggy does about 100mph, in the top end of 3rd gear, I am hesitant to top 100, so I rarely use 4th. I hope they do. Race goggles may help, but I would suggest full helmet at that speed. There is alot of metal to bounce off of, in the buggy. Elbow pads, knee pads, or just wear your football gear.

Loki the sly one there suppose to roll under your foot when you push the gas harder I guess. Not sure I have had one on every dune buggy I have owned lol
they pretty much come from the factory with a roller style (just slightly different as they roll on the back of the pedal), the aftermarket roller style is basically a larger roller without the pedal.

@Lassi Kinnunen Unfortunately the head comes off the valve. Number 3 exhaust usually. That takes out the piston, and can bend a rod. It's all over.
The main reason they drop valves 95 times out of 100 is because they arent kept adjusted. Adjust them and yes, they will take a beating and last a long long time....done it...
The reason the valves stop seating is because the heads were built for leaded gas not unleaded so naturally they get beat and need to upgraded or replaced

I ran at that track for years in a traveling show of Outlaw Modified open wheel racecars. That track was one of my favorites and got a feature win on Mother's day weekend. You got a diamond in the ruff and look forward to helping out anyway I can.
Hey Cleetus, i used to spend every saturday at Desoto back in the day. Was a friend of the owner as well. I reached out to you on Facebook but you must have missed it.
Just a little insight about the buggy (haven't watched the video fully as of now):
That thing always ran like crap, it had a broom with it that was below your feet that you could drop and sweep the track, though it added so much drag it'd stall the buggy out if you tried to use it. Thats probably why its gone, come to think of it... Even without the broom it'd stall on track all the time though.
Anyways, you have the full support of manatee county in bringing back a local past time! I hope you do great things with it, and if you're looking for work when hosting public events I would love to help you out. Big fan of what you do, been watching for a long time, and seeing you buy up Desoto raised my respect for you a whole hell of a lot.
EDIT: The broom used to be way bigger, just saw it.
Lets keep seein the progress of these abandon rides
The roller pedal is actually pretty common on rail buggy’s.
thats because VWs use a roller on the back of the pedals, the aftermarket ones just use a larger roller without the pedal.
Right, even the stock pedals have a wheel that the accelerator pedal rides on
I remember going to sunshine speedway as a kid, they had a sand rail very similar to this one for dumping oil dry and brushing it. Who knows it may even be this same rig. That one had a cutting brake in it, and whoever drove it put on a hell of a show in the process of cleaning the track!!
I use to drive it around 2000-2003 or so.
As a kid I went to Sunset Speedway. 3/8 tracks are fun if the race is 40 laps or more.
all of our race tracks run sand rails
What is a cutting brake???
Individual hand brakes for each rear wheel. So say you want to whip a hard left, you turn the wheel hard left and brake the left rear only and (at lower speeds obviously) those little buggies will pretty much whip around in their own length.
Not sure why but that fire safety buggy just grew on me as one of my favorite cars on this channel lol.
Fired up easy as can't wait to see more updates
