  • RED RASPBERRY LEAF TEA LABOR DAY RECIPE
Are you looking for something nutritious to drink in labor? Well, our CajunStork has the best recipe here! We have called this concoction “The BirthHouse Infusion” and BirthHouse Clients love it in labor, so we know you will too!
First, you want to start with a bulk red raspberry leaf tea recipe. When you turn it into an infusion you want to make a double-strength batch, so in this video, we boiled an addition 4 bags of tea for our 4 cups of tea.
Next, you want to mix 4 cups of coconut water with the 4 cups of red raspberry leaf infusion. This gives you not only a good flavor but also hydrating electrolytes, which means MORE ENERGY in labor!
Last, but certainly not least, you want to add some honey...a lot of it! Check out the video to find out just how much!

If you have an Aldi near you, they have the best coconut water-the ONLY ingredient is coconut water. No citric acid, no sugar, etc

I replaced honey with date syrup (blend 4-8 dates). Labour was a short four hours! Date helps to shorten labour duration

Yes they have it as well already premade but it's so sweet!! Might be able to balance the taste out by eating them instead

Making this now :) Just had my "show" and was 5cm as of this morning. Since I'm not a coconut water fan (or a fan of the flavor of the tea), I'm also infusing with black tea, wild berry tea, and trace minerals.

How many cups of premade tea did you use before you added the 4 cups of red raspberry leaf tea?

I did coconut water for my birth, it went great. I mean, the coconut water was great and I didn't need an IV but the birth lasted a few days, oof. This time I'm getting a few smaller bottles because the big one spoiled before we were done.

I love your videos! I live in NY and it's a scary time to be in your third trimester. I definitely feel way more prepared with all the knowledge and tips like drinking RRL tea :) Having said that, I saw in one vid you said 4500-6000mg/3-4 cups of tea is good around 34-35 weeks. For this labor tea recipe, how much mg of RRL should you include? I have tea bags and not the loose leaf, so I'm wondering how many bags I should use for the labor day infusion. Each of my bags is 1,500 mg. Thank you :)!

Do I understand correctly that to make the infusion I use one cup of premade red raspberry tea (made out of 1 tea bag) and boil it with additional 4 tea bags? Thank you for your answer.

4 tea bags in water instead of one. Infusion just means very potent tea :)

Do you think I could make ice chips out of this and eat those in labor? I have to be induced and go to a hospital for birth, but I'm hoping to figure something out to give my body energy/nutrients in case it's a very long labor

I have to be induced next Thursday at 38 weeks due to FGR :( I really want to try to get my contractions going naturally so I can avoid Pitocin. Would drinking this at the hospital after they give me the ripening agent, Cytotec, be beneficial?

Kira, if I ever give birth the Guinness book of records better be there. Are there any benefits for guys to drink Red Raspberry tea?
Maybe I should send the leaves after dehydrating to all the women on your channel. My garden consists of blackberries also. Are these leaves good for anything?

I wouldn't start drinking it till about 25 weeks +
1 cup a day till your 3rd trimester. Then after that 2 cups with 2 tea bags . After 36 weeks I started drinking 3 cups a day with 2 tea bags !

This is completely unrelated to your awesome recipe( which I’m definitely going to utilize along with the ice chip idea) but is there any way I could ask you your opinion on my situation? If you don’t reply or feel comfortable answering I completely understand and I absolutely love your videos!
I’m just absolutely terrified this time. I’m so worried my uterus will rupture or something horrible is going to happen.
I’ve never been a “go getter” I’m very quiet and pretty reserved but I want a successful vbac more than anything so I’m all in.
    But here I go...
I’m currently 19 weeks and 2 days along with my second pregnancy. I am obese 5”2 208 pounds(starting weight was 205).
I had a c-section(I didn’t want) 3 years and 4 months ago with my little boy. The reason I had to have it was because I had pre eclampsia and my obgyn induced me a week early but after a day in hospital I couldn’t dilate past 2cm.
My new obgyn for this pregnancy gave me an estimate of 75% for a successful vbac.
So I’ve joined a gym and am eating mostly just protein, veggies, and occasionally fruits but I’ve cut out white breads, sugar, and processed foods as best I can. I also just started drinking red raspberry leaf tea at one cup a day. I’m doing 250 squats a day and trying to do more.
What else can I do, read, eat, drink to help prepare myself for a successful all natural vbac?
I really don’t want another c-section but I’m so scared. I’m praying both day and night for this. I mean I am absolutely terrified!
I’m due July 3rd of this year.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my long comment. Also thank you for your videos.

Hi Mama Bear, I’m a huge fan of VBAC and it sounds to me like you’re a pretty decent candidate. With a supportive OB, your chances of VBAC are usually pretty high. The goal for your pregnancy should be to focus on optimal health and nutrition so that you can try to avoid pre-eclampsia and kick into labor naturally. I also recommend a doula for all VBACs!!
      Good luck!

Great question! I recommend a more strong tea to start so in the video next week when I discuss how to make Red Raspberry Leaf Tea from Bulk Leaves, the measurement I use is 2tsp per cup (1 cup of leaves for 8 cups of water)

    • @CajunStork

As far as I know, you can’t “harm yourself” with too much, but more isn’t necessary. It’s largely electrolytes.

Cold or room temp in labor is probably better. After the birth, I was told traditional Chinese medicine would want the mom to drink the tea hot :)
