i think showing performance is good enough.
What they should have done is make it have A greater amount of damage than most other weapons at that stage of the game to compensate the rareness and it’s limits (needing terrain)
so kind of like the sanguine staff of magic weapons
yeah kinda like sanguine before it was nerfed for bug fix
Out of all the three mechanical bosses in Terraria, Destroyer is definitely one of them.

I love how the new sprite work in the vanilla game is amazing. I understand this has nothing to do with the new buff or anything but I saw the thumbnail and I just had to comment about it. ever since Calamity mod became popular, the Devs have really picked up their game.
YES finally someone that noticed this. For example I remember throwing the merchant in shimmer and being simply amazed by the look and colors of his shimmer form
Someone please make the equivalent of a Calamity mod for Minecraft so Mojang gets its stuff together . . . Hytale should make them hightail to better updates.
@@lightninghuff you forget that Terraria is owned by Re-Logic, an Indie Studio, while Minecraft is owned by Microsoft, a AAA Studio.

HYPE!!
in my experience it's a very good crowd control weapon, and even does pretty solid against more "tanky" targets. It can almost stunlock a unicorn, and easily takes out huge crowds of enemies. I find that it was even a very solid choice in the post-plantera dungeon, as it could fend off hell armored bones and stop them from approaching too easily.

Finally I can feel out my desires to be a blood Prince without feeling underpowered in early hardmode!

Destroyer: Am I joke to you?
All classes: yes.
In my opinion it has pretty good dps now and used it up until post-plantera
It also now sprouts from platforms (also planter boxes) if in range and can no longer lose damage when piercing multiple targets
Yeah, I don't know why people miss out on that fact. It just changes the weapon quickly when it comes to arenas
I used this weapon in my mage playthrough and it's actually amazing, if you have platforms in a boss arena those platforms counts as terrain from which the thorns can appear from so you can deal damage even if no real terrain is around the enemies, I used it to beat Plantera and it did decently well, the large AOE can also help you dispose of enemies in a group while being in a tight space. (Post Plantera dungeon)
Not gonna lie, it's not that difficult to obtain. For early hardmode i usually have to fish for crystal serpent when playing mage, so I can just get both at once, the Blood Thorn is also extremely good for the Destroyer, better than meteor and magic dagger at times.

Really glad to see such an underwhelming weapon turn into an _underrated_ weapon.
this is going to be niche but maybe a little quirk like gaining a small amount of health AFTER killing an enemy since range is really limited anyways.
Ah yes, the blood thorn, the only magic short-sword.
i used this weapon one time before 1.4.4, it was during a playthrough where one of us was playing summoner, one was playing mage. you can probably guess what we were farming for, and how i got the blood thorn. Yeah, it was pretty weak, but it was one of those "holy shit look at how cool this is" moments, became an instant favorite.

I'd add an upgraded version that spawns many more spikes at once, and much larger, with double the damage and I think that would be really neat

It would be cool and maybe help with useability but I think they'd need to make it a higher drop chance for it to be worth it since if it was just given an upgrade so that better geared players could get one with the upgrade in mind it would probably not be worth doing over other choices

Are we gonna ignore the buff to it being usable on platforms? Platforms spaced about 15 blocks apart allows it to hit anywhere in between the rows

It's a set bonus from the Forbidden armor
This was my main magic weapon for fooling around I used it all the time so happy it got a buff!
With that buff I would give it a try and aagainst maybe the pirate army or any events I think this can do really nice. The only thing that i find not as nice is how weird the caracter holds it in front of his face

I got the magic dagger very early in my playthorugh of the new update and its helping me farm cash and souls for early hardmode really well!!

forbidden armor. yeah. it's the set bonus
edit: if you didn't know, it's crafted with a thingy dropped from a sand elemental in the desert when it's windy.
@@v2sauce Thanks. I know it - it's a hybrid mage/summoner set. Sadly can't really be used for fashion since you need the entire set equipped :(
Make that so when enemies die, blood thorns burst out of them, with 1/3 of the range

I used to consider the destroyer the hardest boss when I was a newer player since I didnt really know about piercing weapons and actually getting good hardmode weapons instead of horrible ones

ı already defeat twins and skeletron prime at master mode but not destroyer yet so im building high platform.
Destroyer is strong at 1v1

The spikes should be way longer and shouldnt disappear that fast then it mabye can be a good weapon.
Also it could deal alternatively a lot of damage so theres a reason why you should go to the ground

I think I'm gonna use it a bit regardless. I like to switch weapons a lot, and I like it when they're unique and cool. Gonna try and get this.
Needs some effect like 35% chance to bleed and extra dmg vs bleeding enemies.
Destroyer can be hard if you won't just attack his spawn clump or use the tome of infinite cheese. He can one-shot you with his head and the laser barrage is hard to dodge.
That's like saying "This boss is hard if I ignore all the easy ways to beat him" lol
If there are a ton of different ways to make the fight a joke, it's not hard.
and even if you use a shitty weapon, you can just build a box 150 blocks above the ground, with some walls to prevent wyvern spawns, done! the head now cant reach you and there is no laser barrage to dodge, destroyer really is a joke at this point lol
@@SuperCatacata by this logic you can make every fight a joke. You can use teleporters for plantera and duke fishron or just cheese everything with the nurse. I personally think that destroyer is harder than skeletron prime.

They should make the thorns bigger, but not big, i mean HUGE. like 1/3 of your screen

They really should have just bade the spijes bigger, and make it havr similar DPS to Sky Fractyure but withthe ability to hit multiple targets
Honestly it's a lot harder to find than the Life Drain so I was expecting something really good, but then the Life Drain was just better on every point (and also has the same thematic), so I really didn't find a use for this weapon. I wanted to spam the Old One's Army with it but even there Life Drain was just better at that point. Eh.

If I had to update terraria I'd make shimmer spawn in less quantity in its area bc it's op, and buff destroyer, probably give it an invincible phase or buff it's immunity frames.

zoologist sells the saplings after some % bestiary completion. it also grows naturally, but rarely.
remember when muramasa got buffed by 2 damage?
if secondary fire could create terrain and it would also create a spike from a player than it would be viable and not that situational
I have never seen that weapon in my entire life and I have many many hours on terraria. It’s cool that it was buffed tho.
I still think that Destroyer is the hardest of the mechs at Master or higher

It's a good weapon for mobs and exploration, it's way too rare and hard to get though
I love this item
The only complaint that I have for terraria is that it has unique cool weapons like this that are useless for its drop rate / difficult miniboss.
I swear all weapons in labor of love are op or powerful at their stage
Why is the meteor staff given so much credit, it doesn’t really help when fighting fast enemies which includes pretty much every boss.
