it's a really nitpicky detail, i think it's whatever, couple decibels ain't changing much, and even then there are high quality subtitles so you can just read it anyways.

I love how they focused a lot on buffing melee weapons that don't have projectiles, as well as nerfing the range of projectile melee weapons, now melee class truly feels like melee, and has a more unique playstyle

It would be cool if you could craft a blade that does more damage based on the amount of HP the enemy has by using both the breaker blade and the keybrand. And yes, the perfect name would be Key Breaker, and it could have something to do with lock picks.
Crafted with bones and ectoplasm. It’s called the skeleton key because it opens both kinds of locks

Crafted with Keybrand and Breaker blade and Broken Hero Sword at the mythril anvil, true melee and keybrand size, deals more damage when enemy has high health or low health and it deals the least damage when they are at 50% health

fun fact: the breaker blade and the key brand are both references to games from Square Enix, which is probably why the have the same type of mechanic; the breaker blade is the "Buster" sword from Final Fantasy 7, and the keybrand is the "Key Blade" from the Kingdom Hearts series. this is probably well known, but eh I think it's cool.
additional fun fact: the design of the Wizard npc when he falls into shimmer is also a Final fantasy reference. It is a reference to the Black Mage (or maybe not, but they look very similar, and some old terraria textures were basically taken from a final fantasy game, so yeah the connection is likely)

And the buster sword is a refrence to the dragonslayer from berserk
It's not even just those, there are too many final fantasy references in Terraria to count, especially from FF4 - Adamantite being the strongest pre-mech ore, Hallowed Armor literally looking like Cecil, the Wall of Flesh referencing the Demon Wall, and the Paladin's Shield just being Terraria's take on Cecil's Cover ability. This game really pays homage to a lot of great games before it and I love it

I always try to get a Keybrand in my playthroughs because I really like Kingdom Hearts, and the fact that they made a weapon that references the Keyblade is so cool
The connection between them is made better by the Breaker Blade being an FF7 reference

I actually really always liked the breaker blade. It felt good to use and looked badass
First of all, love the music I want this music as my theme
Second of all, that little moment when you're reforging the key brand and you hit legendary and reroll it, LOL that's such a classic moment right there
I recently used it, and it stayed useful far into the game. It's easy to get 600+ damage off a strong hit crit.

They actually made breaker blade and keybrand very solid

U knw what? It's hell, i suffering alot, playing again with different class and higher difficult, still better than pure summoners, but i not regret it cause it's cool 💀

I remember it actually being really useful in my recent expert mode run, the gigantic hitbox and burst damage made it really good in the early hardmode hell that is expert hardmode

I love that the Breaker Blade has a spiritual upgrade in the form of the Keybrand.
It's just nice seeing that hopefully intentional link between Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts within Terraria. As a fan of both, the references are nice to see.
Breaker blade has always been easily abusable with high crit chance. you can consistently do 200 dmg and even sometimes do 400 on EACH HIT!!
Breaker Blade for Few First Hit
Terra Blade for Mid-HP
Key Brand for Low-HP

Finally the dragonslayer is properly represented
On my 1.4.4 playthrough i got a legendary breaker blade after my first WoF defeat, and it has nearly double the damage of my nights edge
Now that is a fortune

I pretty much used this every time I got it going into hard mode. I like its dmg, knockback and reach.
It's hated because all the other WoF drops are vastly superior and more useful for their respective classes, while the Breaker Blade was (and still kinda is) just a gimmicky weapon you use to get something better, if you use it at all.
I think there is a good combo potential for these two, you could get a couple of initial hits with the breaker blade, and then pick them off with the keyblade. I’m not sure tho, it’s been a while since I’ve played so it’s probably not effective/efficient
this makes me wanna do a true melee playthrough... but I don't hate myself
True melee weapons have always been garbage due to their non existent range and it will always stay that way however at least the breaker blade now has some use if you don't have the nights edge
I love this weapon actually, it does good damage to enemies and the knockback keeps them at bay

Didn’t the keybrand get re-balanced as a pre hardmode traveling merchant item? It still scales to its original (I think) hardmode variant when in hardmode though.

I was playing terraria today and crafted the night’s edge and I must say, as someone who plays melee class 90% of the time, the night’s edge is EXTREMELY good now. It used to be really underwhelming and didn’t deal enough dps. But with the new melee system paired with auto swing, it’s basically a hard mode weapon that you can obtain pre hard mode.
For example, normally when fighting expert mode wall of flesh I have a really hard time, but with the night’s edge improvements I was able to defeat it WITHOUT using potions!!! Insane.
That thing was too big to be called a sword. Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of iron.

Think of the a in major literally as the A in the alphabet, not "ahhh", but rather an "ey" or "ei". So, it wouldn't be maejor (prolonged a sound), but mAjor (a brief pronunciation of A).

guys im on atrue melee playtrough right now and i kind of want to give old mans army a chance because of its cool drops
does breaker blade work well in stage 2?(i think stage 2 is after you beat wof or 1 mech boss)
I used Exalibur at that point (Since you have to beat a mech anyways.) but Breaker Blade might still be viable.

If you've never used it that means you never PvP'd back in 1.1... I miss the simple times when it wasn't just a oneshot.
Breaker blade is supposed to be the pre-mech sword. It’s the same reason why the clockwork assault rifle is immediately outclassed by ore bows and repeaters

The clockwork assault rifle in 1.3 on switch was actually broken tho, it was essentially sdmg jr bc the shot delay just didnt exist, allowing it to shoot slightly below the rate of the sdmg
Funny thing, I'm actually at the stage of the game where It's viable to use this weapon.
I would like to suggest a melee weapon has a wordplay on the keybrand; the Lock Flail
~250-300 base damage
10% crit chance
high knockback
material
Briefly locks down enemies upon contact when swung, slows down enemies when resting on the ground
"for every key, there is a lock"
when combined with the Keybrand, it turns into a hammer weapon (I have an Idea about that, but that's something else)

honestly yes it was buffed but until the nights edge and everything else basically gets nerfed.......i will never touch that...i mean why would i even consider it if the nights edge is just so fucking powerful??

Yet, it still feels like trash. Night’s Edge is leagues better, and then the second you defeat a Mech boss you can get the Excalibur, which is now pretty decent.

In my opinion the most hated boss drop in the game is the grenade luncher. It drops always first from plantera when not playing expert mode and some don’t even take the effort the sell or throw it away.
Now those PVPers will extra seethe when they get twoshotted by this thing instead of 3
Now all we need are weapons that make it possible to beat the WOF and the moonlord as true melee in master mode. Then the glorious true melee player revolution can unfold.

the keybrand is a kingdom hearts refernce. ALso the breaker blade is basically like the buster sword so it's pretty ironic that they are both related.

Kinda sad all these PHM melee weapon buffs makes Bee Keeper kinda less relevant (its my best of the best melee weapon PHM as well) and the Dark Lance buff is honestly the best one for me since its one of my fav melee weapon PHM

The only time i use breaker blade is when i have overhaul on and my fellow overhaulers should know why
