Thanks for sharing your journey, the Expansion engine is interesting. The small lever above the regulator must alter the valve gear to use the steam more efficiently. I noticed the exhaust sharpen when it was back towards the driver.
That’s exactly what it does. There’s two sliding valve faces, ones the usual slide valve configuration and the other is on top and used as a cut of to limit steam admission. That’s also how the engine works on the governors.
I was just watching a video about Tangier Island the other day, which said they had a similar accent to some British accents, and i thought, nah man, ive never heard a British accent like that. But its this one. This is the one they sound like.
No camera was harmed in making this video, a roundabout did get runover... .. Sub and like was well worth it for ride on the footplate. That was some outfit on the Road for today, how Life was not much more than a walking pace and no brakes.. not to mention the weather.. flaming June.. earths not likely to burnup this wet.. That's one beautifully aged Lady, very dark Brunswick, not pinstriped yet, done great work still runs like a well oiled watch... O'l maybe. At 1914 was this a War commissioned GP Engine or just round at the time. Cheers for sharing, keep steaming and happy days.. Dewi
Thanks Dewi Definitely managed to hang on to the camera this time around. Hard to make a video and try to keep this lot in between the lines at the same time. She’s got the pin striping just the paint has aged back beautifully to a nice patina. She’s covered some serious Mileage since it was last painted, thanks for watching Norman
@@VintageIronuk Thanks for reply directly, Norman. I'd noted the main striping, just the wheels caught attention as not. This true working Lady has that wonderful down to earth patina, temperament and added Road Miles, so few do when trailered, left cold and just Steamed round a Parade Ring..! like anymore an will wear the thing out. Case, I'd shown a 1936 Lister 'D' 2 H.P. as found both days to have something at Club Show. I sat next to big cold/silent Lister 5 H.P. owner turned up, started it as Judges came down the line, they passed me, shook hands with the Fellow, soon as walked away, shut it and was gone.. don't think had used a Gill of fuel.. guess what, Best in Show.. if face fits or friends.. I must still be bitter. I'll close. Cheers Dewi
That flywheel is terribly out of balance. Surely you can do something about it. The shaking certainly does not do the ending or the boiler any good. Lovely machine. looks all bright a spiffy. Polished brass and all. You are polling quite a load as well. Nothing like a steam engine for power. Can't beat them even today.
Lovely trip through familiar roads for me.
Love these old traction engines, back to a era when machines were buit properly.
Great action, beats the hell out of some spoilt brat on the nurberg sting, fair play to most of the on coming traffic too.she run like a tap 🏁😎⚒

The person doing the steering has the most difficult on that machine
