I was involved with these as a young man in Australia about 55 years ago, now heading into retirement I'm getting the bug back again. Than you for a wonderful journey
Got a recommendation if you're looking for more. I first caught an interest from a video called "Steam on the Lakeland Pass", featuring an engine called Western Star. Might still be here.
Choice of holiday, two weeks in the South of France or two weeks of traveling by traction engine in Wales........... Traction engine all the time. Great video, thank you.
SEDDON FAMILY.. oh so many thanks for a great trip though the valles. the way it was meant to be done. !!!! thank you stay safe and well .. ill look you up on my trips round. atb tone
living van actually not a trailer. Fred brought his off a farmer who wanted to set fire to the woodwork so he could sell the metal bits for scrap. in Fred's own opinion it was in a right old state.
Well I Really enjoyed this video it was just tremendous to see these old steam traction engines going along the road, so thanks to the person who made this video, l say well done.
Well, that was a sight for sore eyes! I was born in Llangollen, was brought up in Glyndyfrdwy and the building behind you in the car park at Corwen is the Health Centre where my now deceased mother was the Practice Manager for many years. There used to be a traction engine or two (perhaps even three) on our farm, although they had long gone before I was born. What did remain however were the implements such as a belt driven sawing table, two threshing machines and few more which I believe were used with the traction engine(s). I now live in Futtsu-city, Japan and have been in Japan for the past 31 years and haven't been back to Wales for nigh on 10 years.
Good video i volunteered at llangollen railway when i was younger with my grandpar Collin Daintith who was a painter/signwriter nice to see it still going
Absolutely brilliant video, we have a 7nhp ransomes and planning to do some decent roading this year, may have to have a go a at little video myself 👍🏻
@@tsuaririndoku we also use steam technology in ships and more power making facilities. As most power is created by the steam turbine connected to a generator. Coal plants use this. I was talking about locomotives. And cars/trucks. I feel most of our climate issues could be solved if we converted steam technology to electric heat instead of fossil fuels. At that point all your doing is releasing water into the atmosphere. And this is totally possibly assume countries in ww2 converted there steam locomotives to electric boilers. And if you closed the system using a condenser. It would be a way more efficient system. Like the Alberta dolbert cars.
Beautiful! Too bad we can't road our engines to events here in the US. One time it was possible, but not now. Traffic is too impatient and todays drivers would as soon hit you than go around. Our engines weren't designed for fast travel, and no nice rubber tires either.
Fred Dibnah had an engine like this I wonder what happened to it after he died? I know one of his sons has the steam roller Betsy I think it’s name is.
The steam tractor he had, along with pretty well all his belongings apart from the roller (which was retained by the two sons Jack and Roger, who take it in turns to run it) needed to be sold to pay for costs. One of his daughters was able to buy the landrover to keep that in the family as well.
@@rudycarlson8245 i believe it still is, but don't know of any specific videos that feature it. It will sometimes be at steam rallies around the manchester area, astle park, cheshire steam fair etc, so may briefly appear in people's videos taken at those events.
Its like watching dibnahs old shows, brilliant
Have you ever watch Thomas Edward on here? he's spitting image of Fred with his accent and dress.
唉唉唉唉唉暑假作業啊啊阿嗄吖
You can't help but love these old machines.
What wonderful memories the family will have in years to come of this trip. Thankfully they have this film memory to keep.

Visions of the old chimney man, God rest his soul! Thanks! Well done!
Superb cinematography. Even if you don't have an interest in steam, this short film will, at least, make you see Wales in a different light!

Such a beautiful country! Cheers!

Superb film, felt like I was there. Wish I were there!
I recall Fred Dibnah had a trailer very like yours. Lovely to see this example of steam engineering in action.

This shows you that steam power will never truly go by the wayside!

Absolutely brilliant, thanks for sharing. Special kudos to a camera person👏

Given their troubles announced earlier this week, let's hope they can get kick-started again soon.
Absolute Gem of a video, really enjoyed it! 👍 😊
Lovely, lovely, lovely!
I know that road so well, so the "slow" approach looked fantastic. Nice 👍👍😁
I love that part of the country thank you for sharing
Very cool to see the steam engine running down the street 😀 The tires are definitely more street friendly then the ones I’ve seen.

Have fun out on the road 🙂
What an entirely beautiful video!
Thank you, glad you liked it.
This is stunning, the camera work is brilliant!! Thanks from NZ.
Definitely O for oarsome!
Le domaine du merveilleux, bravo messieurs , votre passion m’enchante, merveilleuse machine à vapeur !!
I enjoyed that, thanks - very nicely filmed.
thank you
Delightful! Great camera work too!
I think it is awesome to do something like that... good on ya, great stuff.
lovely video!
thank you
Very nice video Ian, a few glimpses of your Land Rover! I suppose you didn't fancy doing it on your roller!
If it had set off 4 years ago, I think my roller would only just be arriving now in 2020!
She's a beauty!
Steam technology we should of never abandoned it. Such a beautiful thing
Fun fact we still use Steam... it just more deadly as we used most of them in Neuclear Powerplant

good info/knowledge..
What a MAGIC whistle .
Beautiful 👍
Great Movie! I hope I can make such films from showman ;Bertha‘ soon!
There's a train museum in Penrhyn Castle
My grandad used to own iron maiden/kitchener and my mum and dad own A fowler tiger tractor
Super !!!! Bravo !!!!

Honestly wish we manufactured our traction engines the same way the UK did. Probably would make road travel much more comfy
Well done !
This thing looks very similar to the basis that was used for Trevor the Traction Engine in the railway series
I would love to do this on a CASE 75 HP!
Lovely 💐💐💐

Well if you can hook up a generator to that thing during the blackout you'll be golden
Hermoso!!!.⚘🍻⚘
I really want a traction engine. Though I'm pretty sure they aren't street legal here in the States.
this is totally Trevor in real life
Ayyy I live here
Guys! Give trevor visit from kids! He needs it! I mean like, he hasnt seen a child in so long, that he is hiding his face from everyone exept children
