Steve Porcaro of Toto in red. The Porcaro’s have contributed as much to music of the 70’s & 80’s as anyone in history. They’re like The Wrecking Crew of they’re time. Played on so much music we grew up with. No one moves like Steve, he’s a dancing machine!

Absolutely TANTRIC!!! - to witness live recording of early synth-pop music! Cannon plug, weighing about 5 pounds, is duct-taped to Gary's pant-leg for his mobile keyboard output signal, incoming power, etc. Early evolution. Excellent tune!
It's not even the output signal; the rest of the Minimoog is on the other end of that cable. I think it's four conductors for the keyboard itself (for control voltage and trigger) plus whatever's needed for the two wheels and the rocker switches.
@@1besieged I was told an interesting story from Greg Ondo (Yamaha/Steinberg) about when he worked at Unique back in the late 1980's and they used EMU sampling keyboards tied to the multitracks SMPTE via MTC (MIDI Time Code) and would do things like sample Mariah Carey's dolphin squeals and pitch correct them using the port wheel, then fly them back into the multitrack tape.

I saw the Gary Wright band in (about) 1976 at the Winterland auditorium in SF CA. I was up front.. and the keyboard low frequencies were vibrating the fillings in my mouth. I have never heard (or felt) any thing quite like it since. Low and clean frequencies can vibrate our souls. And, I will also add.. it was very musical.

Kevin Harris I agree! Every time portamento glides to the top I get goosebumps. And don’t even get me started on that bass line that goes right through you. And the phased strings - this whole mix just blows the album out of the water (IMHO) and I find myself listening to this *at least* once a week.

Don't know if I've ever pointed this out or not before - if not it's long, long overdue but on the other side of the stage, getting practically zero screen time is the great Peter Reilich nailing a second Clavinet part, Hammond and the string Ensemble stuff. I first met Peter in 5th grade - just my family's second year in California. These days you can see RUclips videos of kids playing Chopin Etudes while they're still in the womb. Back then I had Peter who showed me where the bar was. I'll be forever grateful for his talent and friendship. Don't forget the great Art Wood nailing it on drums. We had a blast with Gary.

S Porcaro did a ton of session work back in those days as I remember from reading those albums sleeves. And this (1976) was just before Toto struck with their first hit 'Hold the Line' (1978). I was finishing high school for the first date, and living in the college dorm for the second !
I read a little about Steve, he wrote and co-wrote about 7 of TOTO's first albums. but if you read of Gary Wright he has quite the impressive background in music as well. Both are very fine musicians.

I first met Peter in 5th grade - just my family's second year in California. These days you can see RUclips videos of kids playing Chopin Etudes while they're still in the womb. Back then I had Peter who showed me where the bar was. I'll be forever grateful for his talent and friendship. Don't forget the great Art Wood nailing it on drums. We had a blast with Gary.
Gary wright was the very best concert I ever saw at the golden hall in San Diego it was quite nice!!

S Porcaro did a ton of session work back in those days as I remember from reading those albums sleeves. And this (1976) was just before Toto struck with their first hit 'Hold the Line' (1978). I was finishing high school for the first date, and living in the college dorm for the second !

I read a little about Steve, he wrote and co-wrote about 7 of TOTO's first albums. but if you read of Gary Wright he has quite the impressive background in music as well. Both are very fine musicians.
I would go to a show where Gary plays this song for two hour straight !
