I really don’t like previously painted pieces so I would’ve gone right by this one. It turned out absolutely gorgeous, and I especially love the scalloped detail!😍😍😍
I had a whole bedroom suite with a three-quarter bed, which I now have in my spare bedroom in this house, a dresser identical to that and a dressing table with a big round mirror attached. They belong to my mom. They had all been painted white. When my mother gave them to me, I stripped them down and found the most gorgeous wood underneath. I stained and varnished them and they turned out absolutely amazing. I’ll bet when I finish watching this video I see a game when I saw them on this piece. I’ll let you know.
I've done a lot of curb-shopping and a bit of refinishing. No, I would not have grabbed that, but I won't pass another up after seeing this. A bit of elbow grease and most anything can be saved. Beautiful!
Yes, I definitely would have picked up this sad piece and tried to make it pretty again. You did a remarkable job! By any measure it's gorgeous. Something you may want to try... When a piece has many coats of paint, use a heat gun to bubble up the paint and a putty knife to scrape it off. You go along with the heat gun in one hand followed by the putty knife in the other. Be sure to wear a respirator. I did a dresser with 9 coats of paint on it in about an hour.
Thank you! And you are my kinda people of people!!! I’ve used a heat gun on other painted pieces before and it worked well! I didn’t with this piece because I didn’t want to accidentally burn the veneer underneath or have to paint heat up and do something weird to it 😅 and yes, if anyone out there is going to use a heat gun to remove paint PLEASE were a respirator!
This is Lorraine thank you for showing step by step what you're doing and what you're using to get rid of the paint on the purple dresser purple is my favorite color but not on furniture only on patio furniture I have two patio chairs I painted purple and a table I painted purple and everybody that walks by my house just compliments how beautiful they are my husband did them for my anniversary and birthday I got married on my birthday in June and he also put material on the sea the chairs were given to us wooden rockers the back of the chairs are wicker but the rest is all wood I named my cat purple rose she is now 15 years old we got her in 2009 as a 6-week-old kitten thank you for the video well appreciated
Of corse!!!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗 and don’t get me wrong, I love a good painted piece of furniture!!! Especially a bold color! This paint job was just not the greatest 😅😅😅😅😅😅
Love this video! You just popped up in my feed so congratulations on RUclips doing it's 'THING' for you. Great job! You did really nice work with the color matching, totally appreciate that! Just all around nice work, thanks for the video. :)
Wow, fabulous renovation of that beautiful and very useful piece. Love what you did there. Seems the sides need one last touch, perhaps scallop the bottom edge the way you did the top, or do something similar but different to keep it interesting.

Beautiful job, loved what you did. Oddly enough, I actually owned this same dresser, painted white, with the same drawer pulls in 1975. Who knew it could look so good.
this was so satisfying to watch! Loved it from A to Z! Also a little tip from miniature painting, this will work on your veneer paint as well, there are special trays to prevent the drying out. Give it a google, miniature paint trays should do it! ;)
It’s hard to believe that the pink dresser is the dresser at the end of the video. You did a fabulous job to give this piece beauty again. Linda Beals.
Bubble gum pink. Ugh! The very color my mother used to paint every stick of furniture in my room, after having spent enough time with me talking about color that I had told her several times that I hated pink. (Still do.) It triggered something in her mind; she somehow decided that "nice" little girls all LOVED pink. And she was going to make me into one of them if it killed us both. She "surprise" me with a room re-do where, as I mentioned, everything was freakin' pink. I cried, but I had to live with that gawd-awful room for years, until I could afford to buy a couple of gallons of paint on my own and re-paint the walls in blue.
😆😆😆 I will never forget, when I was in kindergarten, my teacher asked me what my favorite color was and I said blue. She stopped and stared at me and said blue is for boys you should like pink. From that moment on I refused to like anything pink just out of spite lol 😂 I don’t mind pink sometimes now but absolutely not this color 😂😂😂😂
Nice! It turned out uniqe and very gorgeous. Is the handles really original? They seem too ornate for this style. The painted parts and the scallop elevated it! 😍
As far as I know they were original 🤔 unless the previous owner changed them out, which could be a possibility. But they were solid brass which was a huge plus!
Hello beautiful this is Lorraine from Corning New York I love how you make over furniture it looks gorgeous specialty that purple dresser even though purple is my favorite color but not on a dresser I like to listen to your soft warm friendly voice keep the videos coming you have given me many great ideas which I appreciate very much I love you and I love your videos keep them coming may God keep you safe and warm and happy and God bless you and Happy Thanksgiving
You did such a great job on that piece! It was really horrible to begin with, in my opinion, it’s going to be a favorite piece to its new owner for years to come.
Thank you!!!! I love painted furniture and I paint a lot of furniture myself but this paint job was not it 😂 and I sold it 2 days ago and they love it!
Another tip for cleaning hardware. Pick up an old crockpot at Goodwill and use it for cleaning all your hardware. Keeps the mess out of your kitchen. Keep up the good work!
That’s a good tip 🙌🏼 normally I just let my hardware soak in water and vinegar while I’m working on my piece but this was the first time, in 8 years, I’ve had to deal with painted hardware 😅
The two topcoat sheens are brilliant. What do you think the 4 holes on each side was for? And to answer your question NO, I would have never picked this up! You are brave and what an incredible makeover
I wish I knew the answer to that! Along with the weird holes in the front! And the hand prints 🤣🤣🤣🤣 And one of these days, I will see you with a piece like this!!! 😆
I will try to post a short about it but if you head over to my Instagram (same name) I have a few reels in my tips and tricks highlight bubble showing you how 🤗
Eu gosto muito de ver este tipo de vídeo, mas não tinha como faze lo,não tenho equipamento, espaço,além de ser muito trabalho, muitos parabéns a todos que se dedicam à reciclagem ❤Portugal
I find it extremely interesting that you added scallops on the top, but removed the scallops from the bottom. I love that you kept most of the natural wood and made it pop with the black. It looks great! Awesome job!
Thank you!!! The bottom wasn’t really a true scallop edge and isn’t really desired too much in my area. Adding it to the top gave it a unique and more modern look while allowing me to cover up the damage to the veneer and letting as much of the good veneer show 🤗
Yes but I don't have the talent.😅The contrast with the black respectfully not a fan . But your choice. It looked like an antique which made it valuable. Unfortunately their rules of restoration it's not extremely valuable now. Their rules. Imho you saved it .
That’s fair that you did like the black! It’s not for everyone 😊 and not every antique piece of furniture is valuable. This was not a very well made piece. Could I have restored it completely? Yes! But the amount of time and supplies I would have put in would not have been worth it for what I could have gotten for it.
Would you tackle a previously painted piece???
I really don’t like previously painted pieces so I would’ve gone right by this one. It turned out absolutely gorgeous, and I especially love the scalloped detail!😍😍😍
Thank you!!!!!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗
I would have thought it too far gone but you did an incredible job!😊

Thank you so much 🥹🥹🥹🥹
Did you check for lead in the paint before starting?
Your ability to recreate the wood veneer is amazing ❤
Thank you so much!!! It’s been a lot of practice and trial and error 🤗
Wow, fabulous renovation of that beautiful and very useful piece. Love what you did there. Seems the sides need one last touch, perhaps scallop the bottom edge the way you did the top, or do something similar but different to keep it interesting.
Thank you!!!! Unfortunately the piece already sold, but that definitely would have been a cute idea 🤗🤗🤗

Awwww 🥹 thank you so much! And thanks for being here!!
CUUUUTE!! As a Wood Lover, maybe the paint/wood duo, but not the detail envisioned & accomplished!!
Thank you!!! 😊
Striking!!! And no because I would have been overwhelmed by the amount of work to get the results you did but wow what a great job you did!
Thank you 🤗🤗🤗🤗
You are a patient miracle worker! It looks fantastic.
Aww thank you 🤗
Great job - unrecognisable as the same dresser 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💕💕
Thank you so much 😊
Unbelievable indeed! Doing the top coat on the black and then the rest was so smart, I never realized that you could wipe it off, just like that!
Little trick I learned! I do the same if I’m painting the edges of drawers. I’ll stain and top coat them first 🤗
Beautiful !! The black with the stained wood is so striking !!
Thank you!!!!
Such a beautiful save. Awesome job!
Thank you so much!!! 🤗
I love it. You did good, sweety. I especially love the scallops. Very innovative.
Thank you so much 🤗🤗🤗🤗
This is gorgeous!! I appreciate your detailed introductions. You’ve earned a new subscriber!! 😊
Thank you and thanks for joining 🤗
Love the scallops and you did a fantastic job on it overall. Such care and detail to this vintage piece
Thank you so much 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Nice work! Glad you were able to keep the drawer pulls.
Thank you!! And same! I was expecting the worst 😅
Lovely transformation and the scallops and hardware took it over the top!
Thank you so much!!!! I like adding fun touches to my furniture!
What a beautiful piece! You are a master refinisher! I also loved how you explained every step you took to get a perfect end result . ❤
Thank you so much!!!! I appreciate you saying that because sometimes it’s hard for me to fully explain things 😅
I don’t know if I would have been able to envision your impressive re-do of this piece. Love it!
Thank you!!!!
Awesome furniture restoration
Bravo 🎉🎉🎉
I'm glad I found your channel

Love the combination of black and wood! You done an incredible job!
Thank you so much!!!!!! I had fun with this one! A few headaches but totally worth it lol!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!!
Thank you so much!!! ☺️
Back in the day I would have tried, but wouldn't have gotten such a great result. Good job!
Thank you! And it has taken me a lot of practice ☺️ let’s just say i wish i could redo my first few pieces lol
First time viewing, and I loved everything!!
Thank you so much 🤗
Beautiful job, loved what you did.
Oddly enough, I actually owned this same dresser, painted white, with the same drawer pulls in 1975. Who knew it could look so good.
Thank you!!!!! 😊 are you thinking of taking off the paint??
@ Absolutely would do so if I still owned it! Your dresser would likely have a twin! 😂
You made this dresser look amazing!
That wood grain is stunning
I know!!!! I love painting furniture as well but this was way too pretty!
WOW😊
I think you did an amazing job with this! I definitely would have been intimidated by all that damage and paint, but you weren't at all! Great job!
Awww thank you!!!!!! 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks for the tip about the kiwi puffy. Did not know that
Of corse!!!! 🤗
this was so satisfying to watch! Loved it from A to Z! Also a little tip from miniature painting, this will work on your veneer paint as well, there are special trays to prevent the drying out. Give it a google, miniature paint trays should do it! ;)
Thank you!!!!!!! I will for sure take a look!!!!! 🤗🤗🤗
Loved how the dresser was restored I think your work was exceptionally good and are going to keep checking your videos for more restorations.
Thank you so much 🤗🤗
It's amazing! I flip a piece of furniture at least once a month love these videos
Thank you so much!!!! And it’s so much fun! Hope you’re having a blast doing it!
What a great save! Beautiful!
Thank you so much!! It was a fun challenge!
Yes!! What an amazing job. ❤
Thank you so much 🤗🤗
It’s hard to believe that the pink dresser is the dresser at the end of the video. You did a fabulous job to give this piece beauty again. Linda Beals.
Thank you so much!!!! 🤗🤗🤗 it was a mess lol 😂
You did an INCREDIBLE job!!! I would have tackled the pink one, but I could never have refinished it as BEAUTIFULLY as you. Pro.
Awww thank you 🤗
Yes, Iwould. It turned out beautifully
My people!!! 😃 and thank you very much!
🎉 fantastic, loved that tip on the bondo. Thanks.
Thank you! And of corse 🤗
Yes, I would have picked it up - I have one just like it. You did a wonderful job, it's beautiful!
Thank you so much!!!!!! 😊

Fantastic job Andrea! 👏 love your attention to detail and the scallop design! 😍
Thank you so much 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I love that liner!
Thank you!!! The black flowers is one of my favorites!
J’aime beaucoup ta façon de travailler et surtout les résultats… juste wow 😮❤😊
Thank you so much 💜🤗☺️
I would have definitely picked this one up. I love a good challenge.
You’re my kinda of people lol 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Great job👍. Lobe what you did with it. I would not of picked it up lol.🤗🇬🇧
Thank you!!!! 🤗 and that’s fair 😆 sometimes I question my own sanity for torturing myself lol

Of corse!!! Thank you for the support 🤗🤗🤗
You did a great job.
Thank you!!!!! 😊
Great tip about the bondo!...I always see EVERYONE using cardboard....thanks really enjoyed the video ❤
Of corse!!!! You’re welcome ☺️
I did use to use cardboard for Bondo until I learned you’re not suppose to so I’m trying to get the word out there!
Love it beautiful 😊
Thank you so much!!
Looks amazing 😻
Thank you! 😊
like the idea 💡 of putting black color on the border instead of paint it all in one color as i used to see, ❤
Me too! I had to paint it because of the repairs I made but I did not want to cover up that veneer 💜
Really nice job on the dresser and a well done video. I love that wood grain against the black but I’m not a fan of the scallops.
Thank you!!! And that’s fair 🤗 they aren’t for everyone!
Brilliant transformation!
Thank you so much 🤗🤗🤗 it’s one of my favorites!
Beautiful ❤
Thank you so much! 😊
It turned out pretty 😊. I would have liked to see it bare after sanding and staining/stain choice info. Maybe next time.
Thank you! And you mean see the whole entire piece after sanding? And are you wanting to know what stain I used that I had sanded off?
Very nice!
Thank you so much! 😊
Great tip too about the hardware
🤗🤗🤗
Loving your video
Thank you so much!!!!! 😊
Absolutely amazing! I can’t believe that is the same piece of furniture.
Thank you!!!!!!! I still can’t believe it either 😅😅😅😅
Love it,❤
Thank you!!!!! 😊
That’s beautiful
Thank you so much!!!

And one of these days, I will see you with a piece like this!!! 😆
Thank you!!! 😊
I think someone put nails in it to hold jewelry. Great transformation.
@@AndreaFlippingUnique yes the creepy hand prints!
I sure would have picked this up. In fact, I’ve picked up much worse. 😂
Heck yes!!!!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 my kind of person!
LOVE YOUR WORK!! Please consider not having any music. You are a real artist!
Thank you!!!! And I will see how it seems to me on my next one. I just don’t personally like zero noise when people are talking 😅
Agreed, great work but repetitive music ruins videos for me so I skipped to the end.
LOVELY!
Thank you so much 🤗
Can you show us how you sharpen the scraper blade please?
I will try to post a short about it but if you head over to my Instagram (same name) I have a few reels in my tips and tricks highlight bubble showing you how 🤗
Fab makeover.
Thank you!! 😊
Very nice job!
Thank you 😊
Omg. You are a wealth of info
I love sharing what I know and what has been working for me!
Did you try oxalic acid to remove the pink staining? That was a strong color- I’m sure it was so frustrating!
I did not but I’ll remember that for next time 🤗 it was so pretty potent paint 😅
I think the front holes were for a lock. They go over the first drawer. Who knows what secrets it held ;)
That would make for a fun story to think about 😅😅😅
Maybe. You did a
Beautiful job
Thank you!!! 😊
Absolutely!!
🤗🤗🤗
Bellísimo
Thank you!!!😊
Fabulous 👌👌💕
Thank you so much!
I had this same dresser...it had gotten so unstable by time I stopped using it 😢😢😢
Bummer 😣😣😣😣😣
Try a heat gun and putty knife next time. Works great sometimes depending on the paint
Ive done the best gun method and it works really well! I didn’t do it on this piece because I was afraid of accidentally burning the veneer 😅
Eu gosto muito de ver este tipo de vídeo, mas não tinha como faze lo,não tenho equipamento, espaço,além de ser muito trabalho, muitos parabéns a todos que se dedicam à reciclagem ❤Portugal
That’s a bummer you don’t have the space!! And thank you for the kind words 🤗
WOW😊
Thank you so much!!!!
Adding it to the top gave it a unique and more modern look while allowing me to cover up the damage to the veneer and letting as much of the good veneer show 🤗
Nice
Thank you!!
♥

🌹❤️
🤗🤗🤗
It wasn’t the same as mine, but it turned out great
Yes but I don't have the talent.😅The contrast with the black respectfully not a fan .
Although it is pretty, those drawer handles are not original. They should be made of bakelite not brass.
I realize that now! I had put that in the description 😊
I can’t understand why people paint nice wooden furniture..
I’m all for painted furniture! I paint a lot myself but I can’t when the wood grain is that nice 😅
