Very helpful video, just did this on my 2011 Nissan Murano. However I found I didn't need to remove the tire rod at all. Can just pull the wheel bearing and hub down to get the axle out. Much easier
That was a nice trick with the ABS bolt using the RTV adhesive to make the sensor stay put. I'm going to use that. When those little 10mm bolts are frozen in the ABS sensor. Best way to avoid the bolt snapping on you is to follow the wire and disconnected it from the other end and just pull it of the car with the knuckle.
Just a small peice of advise for anyone watching anytime you beat the threaded end of the bolt to get it out , or a tie rod, thread the nut back on, and that will protect the threads from getting damaged.
You know, generally that's true, but those axle nuts are made of a softer material than the axle, and I've beat on them in the past and it actually ruins the axle nut. I think it's best to use the punch like Angel did.
@@JoBianco I was not being specific to the axle nut. I just remember seeing him hit on bolts or ball joints etc. If you're talking about the end of an axle shaft then yea, a few little taps is usually all it takes to help it out of the hub and you also have a rather large surface area. To be even more detailed, when you do thread a nut back onto a bolt, threaded rod, etc. You need to run it up flush with the end of the bolt. In other words one FULL nut up the threads. This way you don't damage the threads, OR the nut. Like you said it's a generally speaking thing. I have worked on a variety of heavy equipment and they usually require a lot more beating of parts compared to automotive and this trick will save a lot of threads being damaged.
Yes they removed the ball joint and the bolt was damaged 🙄 but on this video it says you dont need to remove it 😒🙄 but I have a different vehicle nissan sentra?
Great informative video, I have a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 and need to change my CV axle and seals which I had changed early last but axles and wheel hub bearing are making noise. Definitely not paying someone else to screw my SUV up again. Great video and you and your family stay blessed and safe.
My technique I learned from experienced mechanics is to put transmission in neutral and twist the CV axle back and forth gently and use a special adjustable pry bar to loosen the inner axle. Replacement of axle you wiggle gently twisting clockwise and counter clockwise and it slips in the hole. There's other ingenious ways I've seen on RUclips. Whatever works best. Don't get frustrated and damage the transmission by banging it with a hammer.
Only thing is you don't want to be prying and twisting the axle while in park. Watched a AA1 video where the lady mech mentioned putting a pry bar between stud bolts and ground while tightening the spindle nut with the car in Neutral. Takes strain off of transmission, which was new to me.
Australia. The rust is crazy. knowing that if work to be done I'd be spraying two cans on all bolts and letting it soak before I started. Easy to drill out 10mm censor bolt. Good job 👍

When I replaced the transmission in my dad's acura tl I replaced the CV axles anyway so I just pried them out with a flat head and a hammer worked minty
I just purchased the same vehicle SL all-wheel-drive today I am getting package of side axle replaced glad I seen that you had to buy a seal I guess it wouldn’t be wise to use the same seal that goes into the CVT thank you for this video my friend love all of your videos

Just got done putting in a NAPA reman drivers side CV axle in a 2000 V6 Camry. I just removed the the two big bolts from the strut to knuckle/hub and swung it out of the way.
I’m from New England and you can’t remove the abs sensor from the spindle 99% of the time. I usually just unplug it. If I do break that 6mm fastener I put some silicone on the shaft portion not the tiny flange. Usually the plastic is so swollen it fits tight in the spindle anyways.
I remember when I use to rebuild this things, watching this, could not think or remember it took this long to take it out or that i had to remove all this bolt and even the breaker, I don't know maybe I was taught different, but take them off , rebuild them and put them back was done very quick, I really don't remember taking all this things out but its been a while🙈
I'm not trying to tell you how to do your job but, if you put just a little lubricant on the end of the shaft, it will go in easier. Awesome video. Thanks a lot.

I can relate to u brother, I have 2 kids and my sends the kids in the garage while I'm working on cars. My little ones need lots of attention, my 2 hour jobs become an all day job.
In rust belt area, we don't remove the ABS sensor. Just undo the wire and connector. Even if you were able to remove the bolt, chances are the sensor will be stuck from rust in the hole and might break the sensor trying to remove.

To be honest a easy out would of got that out. Not trying to discredit this man but as a professional that's uncalled for. I can see a weekend Warrior try something like THAT but not a professional. He should of At least tried a easy out being in the south with no rust it shouldn't of been a issue. Up here in the north yes you might of had to use a timesert or coil of some kind. Worst case over drill the whole and retap next size. the sad part is you would also have to drill the sensor.

Wow so we glued the sensor in... Classy. Tech tip; lubricate your seals before you shove a dry axle into them. Don't put the machine surface of a rotor on textures that might damage them. Anti sieze the axle. Buy m6-1.0 tap and 1/4 drill bit(preferably #8). Safety note: if that axle had come completely loose while roping you would be in the line of fire. Ouch🤕

Yeah that sucks haha. I try not to use impact tools if the nut is small. A good sized wrench and a pipe are the right tools for those little bastards.
Don't mess with rust bolt unless you need too just umplug the sensor and leave it

Never thought about disconnecting it. I always went for the obvious bolt at the hub and snap it sometimes. Lol

Just did this on my 02 Sienna. Not leaking but very loose. New axle was much tighter. Bought at Napa. Rust is my issue also here in the rust belt.
