I just did the same thing with both of my electric bikes. I got a smaller one for riding around town and then I got a bigger one to handle big boy things and the flat out is something I believe should be done in all tires. I bought a whole gallon on Amazon And I can’t tell you if it works or not because I haven’t got a flight yet and that’s the whole point because a lot of glass is on the bike trails or for any situation. The safest is to prepare before a situation happens and if I can protect myself and other people, then that’s what I’m gonna do but I give a shout out to flat out because what I just saw was a man who had a flat tire already, and used flat out and still riding his bike and he does not have to get a changed if he does not want to The safety part of this and the pain in the butt on getting the back tire changed. It’s a whole process. You gotta have that special tool for the cable so I put flat out in all my tires the correct amount. I think they should change it to where it has directions For a bicycle tires not just trailer and mining vehicles tires because the fat tires on the electric bike it’s telling me 12 ounces and it’s not 12 ounces. It’s 18 ounces that’s the correct amount to put for a flat tire.
congrats on fixing your bike! Area 13 bikes did a comparison of flat prevention products from Green Slime, Tannus armor and Flat Out. He recommends flat out as it did the best in his tests.
Thanks for watching.
I've used both Slime and Flat Out on two different tire sizes over the past 10+ years, with great results. Never a problem with Slime but once I used too much Flat Out and it clogged the valve so badly that my electric pump could not pump it up. I replaced the valve stem and it has been flat-free now for over two years. Works great as long as you RTFM !
You know I can see the reason why you got a flat tire. If you don't run more than 10 pounds of air in it, most people say that you need to run the desired pressure that it says on the tire or close to it. Because even though you're getting a more comfortable ride, you can get a tub pinch or it's easier to get a puncture if you don't have the tire at the right pressure. And I'm sure that tire requires more than 10 pounds.
I think you are right. I have since inflated it to the recommended pressure. Thanks for watching.
Low air pressure also ruins your range on an ebike and makes it a lot harder to pedal on normal ones. Aside from pinch flats, if you ever do hard turning, the forces can momentarily pull the bead of the tire away from the rim and let air escape that way, too. There's actually a reason tire manufacturers put the recommended pressure on the sidewall.
Thanks. I have since raised the pressure to the manufacturer-suggested level. It rides much better now. @@NotSoFast71
Psi is really dependent on the surface you are riding on. Off-road lower psi is better as it adds more stability in loose traction situations. Higher psi for pavement
Makes tire pressure more denser or once air is in tire, the feel when doing the wide pinch feel is rock solid as long as you keep within psi max. I ride thru crap and loud noises from tire running over crap and even flicking it out like a jet from back and good reasons to use fenders or mud guards ( stuff gets jetted out under tire towards your groin area). Flat out is a great safer than sorry approach of the need to avoid flats on long trips, especially avoiding fat tires for its a bit more effort to keep inner line rim when inflating.
first thing i bought for my new bike that i haven't received yet. lol
I have been using flatout for a few years now been all over the place with thorns and glass and no flats. I love that stuff for me It just works. Run my tires at 34 psi .
We call them valve stems. Is that what you call them in Canada what you called them in the video.?
I am in Florida. I am an American. Thanks for watching!
I lost track of the number of stop signs you blew through on your little test ride, dude! 😮 (I did order some Flat Out, though. 🙂)
This is how people get hurt. You think those control devices (signs, lights) are there as 'car rules' that don't apply? If you are moving, then they apply to you. I hope others that watch you decide to operate their mobile like all other moving vehicles otherwise someone is playing by rules that nobody else knows about and risk human life. Physics is consistent.
He blew through all of them and was speeding in the 25mph zone, which, in fairness might be only during school hours and he doesn’t seem to be riding during school. No sign of buses or children crossing streets, etc.
@@playerone3018nice attitude “Ken” first off cars, trucks, and busses are “Motor Vehicles,” bicycles, are NOT. Different rules, I’ll let you look them up. e-Bikes by the way are “assisted bicycles,” like powered wheelchairs, and other powered assistive devices. Not The Same Rules…
Got that.
Also, many states are adopting rules that crossover into MV territory. Not on the eBikes, but the several THOUSAND POUND MV with massive overkill top speed compared to anything else.
This means the rules ARE DIFFERENT. Even on an eBike your startup speed at intersections can get you run over from behind.
“Stop Signs” are suggestions LEGALLY in many states for BICYCLES, eBikes and pedestrians for that matter. There are a great many differences between safe riding or walking… and the multi-thousand pound sound proofed, rolling living rooms that people roll around in.
Take care out there…
But don’t hesitate to TAKE it.
THEY are Predatory AI (computer controlled) & human hybrids.
We are their largely invisible (to them) Prey. Ride like you are invisible…
Because to them, you are…
And some may deliberately stalk you, beware the unseeing hybrid
Predators.
A similar product called Slime has been around over 50 years. and these liquid sealants double as a tire balancing fluid/ Forget trying to make a patch repair if using this. Also will work on tubeless tires.
Thanks for watching.
Slime is no match for Flatout.
After you put the stopleak in you want it to leak, find the hole and get into it and seal it. Now as is if you put 20 lbs in it will expand the hole and start it to leak again.
Thanks for the info and for watching!
Just bought some… your video has eased my mind .. I have the freedom, no flats yet. Wanted a preventative. Thanks
Thanks for watching. It works great. Zero flats since I installed it.
How did flat out work for you? 6 month check in.
@@awelsh39 zero flats
Recently I've had problems with tubes simply developing splits in them in different locations. Even happened with a more expensive Bontrager tube, not just the cheap ones. Manufacturing quality seems to be the new issue which unfortunately means the protective inserts won't help in those cases.
Are you using tire talc to avoid friction flats ?
@@jacobclark89 honestly no, however that tube was only a few months old and I've had tubes last for years as long as I can remember. But I must remember what you said. Good tip thanks
Can't tell you how many rear flats I've fixed in my shop using Flatout or Flat Attack saving my customers a ton of money.
It is a miracle product for sure.
@VictorYepello - just wondering, if you've used this stuff on car tires as well ?
Please reply, as I'm thinking of using it.
Sorry no, I have not. A product named FlatOut is recommended for car tires. @@grantp4022
@@grantp4022 Not for car tires.
Thanks for your honesty. I sent my bike to a Pro Shop recently to fix flat. After he replaced a new inner tube. I asked about slime and flat out. He said is a waste of money. Exactly a week later I had another flat. I patched it myself to save $45
Had flat-out in my tyres already when I caught a roofing staple in my rear, it did nothing whatsoever.
How long had it been in there? I believe you can file a claim with them and get the tire paid for.
@whatskevindoing the goop, less than 6 months, the staple? About 2 minutes lol.
warning dont put it in your car it will clog the tpms sensor only use on bikes tyractors etc that dont have tpms sensors
Gorgeous area you live in there, just wondering if that's California or Florida. or
somewhere else ? Good video on the Flat Out as well.
Thanks for watching! It is the West Palm Beach area of Florida. It is nice here but stupidly expensive as well.
@@whatskevindoing -Yes it looks very
expensive, almost Hollywood looking.
Looks like a lot of very wealthy people
living in that area.
Are you using the flat out version formulated for fat bike tires?
At the time that was not available.
It's worked great for me so far. I've rode in some areas that are rough to say the least.
Slime works too. But not for long. Area13 test showed Flatout was the best. I ran 45-65psi on my Schwalbe Marathon’s, so maybe pressure makes a difference.
I went with Flatout just based on reviews and am happy I did. It's a great product. Thanks for watching!
How much weight did you just add to the bikes?
Less than 2 pounds I would think.
HOW DO YOU CHECK TIRE PRESSURE.....???....WONT IT RUIN YOUR GAUGE ??? I was wondering if there is a trick to it so it doesn't gum up your gauge ???
Thanks for watching. It actually doesn't get into your cage at all. Because you take the pin out in the valve stem before you put the product in. Then you return it after it's done. I've never had any problems with it.
The valve has to be on the top
Position. You know 12 o'clock.
Same as on a tractor with filled
Tires.
Thanks for a honest review 👍
Thanks for watching.
1/4 is what you need in a bike tire....you need to make sure you got the sportsman formula. I pouch does 4 bike tires 26 or 20 inch
The sportman is old technology..the new flat out quick strike is better but I believe it's only available on the flat out website..
@@trini_boi2414 i am on 6900 miles using it on 3 dofferent bikes woth no flats
Where can you buy Flat Out? Thanks
Thanks for watching. You can buy it here: amzn.to/3ykJgNH
You're using the old type flat out...the new quick strike flat out works the best..quick strike plus Mr tuffy i have and haven't seen a flat in almost 2 months so far..
Thanks for the info and for watching. Looks like they have changed the packaging.
Great video, love that bike!
I didn’t get a tool and I bought 4 bags of the stuff.
i just tried this ... had small thorn puncture the tire. Slowed down the leak but did not stop it. its a waste of money
I'm sorry to hear that. It works wonders for most leaks. I would call them.
Good review, Kevin! Got yourself a new subscriber...and gonna be adding it to my wife's tires!! 🙂
Thank you!
@@whatskevindoing- Now...if you can give me the right way to make sure my tires are sitting right, I'd sure appreciate it!!
Not sure what you mean by that. @@RicLevine
@@whatskevindoing- I didn’t have the bead going into the rim properly.
I think I figured it out.
Thanx!! 😊
Would I stop at a stop sign if I am riding an eBike for my RUclips channel? Please pardon my grammar.
Thanks for watching.
Would Fat Out be more than a temporary solution?
Valve stem should be at bottom
u should put tannus in your tires
Thanks for watching. I'll take a look at that.
Flat out wouldnt go in even after remived valve stem
How many ounces are needed for a 4" x 20" tire? Thanks
I was able to fill both of my tires that size with one container.
i have used slime for years and years. it works but flat out is supposed to last literally 10 years. we have goat heads here. they are horrible.
Same. My tires need replacing before my slime solidifies. I'll try this though.
Maybe I am not using enough, but my tires are only 16 x 1.75 and I run 45-65 PSI. I still get a flat every week!
@@barrybogart5436 how much did you use ? It should self seal if you have enough. You might lose some air but it should seal it when ridden. Just add back the air that's lost.
Slime is fine if goat heads are the only thing you are dealing with. True story two days ago. I went out for a ride. I was just under 6 miles from home when I started getting a strange noise on the back of my bike there was a convenience store about 200 feet away so I pulled in to the convenient store, inspected my rear tire, and there was a 5/8 inch bolt head right in the middle of my tread. So I pulled it out. My tire went flat immediately. My mistake was my tire should’ve been rotated about 90° to get the bolt to the bottom before pulling it out. So I put a dollar into the air compressor, filled my tire back up to 20 pounds and proceeded to head back home. I’m using flat out with Kevlar. Great stuff slime never would’ve held it. And if I had of rotated the bolt to the bottom of the tire and let it sit for a second before I pull the bolt out, I probably could’ve save the dollar I fed the air compressor.
Works a lot better than Slime!
Maybe stop playing music in the background so we can hear you talk?
I recently put FlatOut in my Ebike fat tires and then just a few days ago I ran over a drywall screw. FlatOut did not seal the leak. I tried multiple times, put the puncture on the bottom and even added another 1/4 bottle into the tire and after several more tries to inflate it I had to just give it up as a lost cause. After breaking down the tire to replace the tube I expected to find that the dry wall screw had ripped the tube or made multiple punctures but all I found was one small puncture. I can only say that FlatOut did not work for me. I am still unsure as to why it didn't but I will not ever use it again and you should think about it before you use it.
I would contact the manufacturer. They are very good about standing by their product.
what bike is it
It is a Wicked step thru cruiser.
It's don't make any difference even stems vale it's facing down you gotta spin the tires anyway ahhh😢🎉🎉😊😊😊
I did that of course right after I finished installing the product. I have taken the bike out on trails several times since and have zero flat tires now. The product works great!
Stop running stop signs or im reporting you 😂😅
10 psi is way too low. More like 30-35 psi
I went with the manufacturer's suggestion of 20 psi in the end.
Dude you're riding like a maniac.
I used to use flatout and it does work but sometimes it does not work so now I used sahara moto high speed tire sealant is better than flatout and not only repairs your flats but it also helps balancing your tires I highly recomend sahara. it has save me a lot of times.
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching.
