    I was born here, I love my city - and you have nailed it, my friend. Everything you have said is true and accurate. I used to live in Manly and it was awesome. I now live near the airport and its just as awesome. This city has so many facets - and welcomes everyone :) Stay safe everyone.

      I don't get this at all.. everyone else who didn't grow up in Sydney sees it as an absolute overpriced dump, mostly filled with arrogant selfish people. The traffic is horrendous and everything is dirty..
      If you are a foreigner sure go and see the Harbour bridge and the Opera house so you can take it off your bucket list but other than that Sydney doesn't offer anything unique that can't be seen in better places around the country.

    Sydney has 5 harbours, Sydney Harbour which goes back twenty km to Parramatta, Middle Harbor, Botany Bay, Port Hacking and Broken Bay which splits into Pittwater, Brisbane Waters and the Hawkesbury. Then there is everything along the Pacific coast. Plenty of waterfront.

    Mate, I'm born and bred Sydneysider and you have done the city proud! You are basically spot on with your analysis. Sure, it's expensive but like good beer and wine, you pay a premium for quality. On your next video you may want to talk about sport, (Sydney FC is my team) Aboriginal history, multicultural western Sydney and of course a trip to the Central Coast. Well done. Just a fun fact, Sydney once had the largest tram network in the world and it's good to see the government beginning to add trams back to the network.

    Accurate review, and it's nice that you mention that you CAN eat cheaply in Sydney, unlike some other reviews. Some areas however do not have good public transport and if you're on the northern beaches, it's buses only and takes forever to get anywhere.

    This video is really good, I'm moving to Sydney from the outback, seeing someone from the outside cover the city like this is, well it's very helpful.
    I can't wait to personally challenge my opinions and beliefs while being surrounded by the multicultural environment.
    I have visited the city before, it wasn't for me then, too many people.
    My life has gotten stagnant with where I am currently, that's why I'm doing it.
    Also the international airport which caters to every country is a bonus, I plan to travel around the world at some point.

    Good video, mate. The subject of ''how good is Sydney'' is quite complicated and subjective. The points you made are pretty accurate and I'd like to add some more ''negatives'' from my perspective to balance it out. I lived there since before the ''lockout law'' and its nightlife really died out. Especially if you're into more niche music scenes. Also, for a European there are simply too many rules and regulations about pretty much everything. There is a lack of deep and meaningful conversations with the locals who are used to a more ''simple'' approach in life. Lastly, work environments can be quite bizarre and a bit backwards sometimes. Sydney is an amazing city indeed but it really depends how adaptable you are and how it fits your personality overall.

    • @club1fan552
      @club1fan552 2 года назад +1

      Compared to many other world cities, Sydney is quite safe but the usual precautions apply. Many types of crime have actually decreased over the last few decades. There aren't "bandits" but there are "thugs" like everywhere. If you are a woman and going out at night your safety would be increased if you had a male companion with you. Sydney night life is now much quieter due to lock out laws (which in some parts of the city I think have been lifted) and Covid and the crowds have never really come back. Don't come for night life but the variety and quality of restaurants is still here.

    Sydney is not just these places. The real Sydney is in its suburbs and outer areas, especially the deep West. The people are normal, and more of them live there than anywhere else. It's less expensive. Not as snobby or hipster. Only occasionally do they go into the "city". Plenty of local venues and eateries (often really good quality and and with genuine international cuisines) and (like everywhere else) coffee to die for.
    The outer suburban lifestyle is especially unique: being near the bush, awesome mountains, open spaces, genuine friends, sport, clubs, drives, camping, riding, secluded valleys, quaint villages, farmland, forests, rivers (in places the Hawkesbury is like a natural version of the Rhine), and so on is every bit as liveable as the affluent and photogenic (but often shallow) beaches and high rises.
    And it has its own multiple and interesting subcultures, often shaped by generations of migrants from everywhere determined to make life as wonderful as possible for their kids: Places like Cabramatta, Bankstown, Camden, Penrith, the Hawkesbury, the Hills, the Mountains, and even "The Shire" each have their own unique edge. They're not merely touristy and homogenised. By comparison, the centre of Sydney is merely pretty.
