    Lived in Sydney all my life. The biggest negatives about Sydney is traffic and cost of housing. Still loved it. Moved up to the Central Coast. Slower pace and cheaper.

      Beware, Sydney in January is just entering the hottest and most humid time of the year. Coming from London in January will be a shock to the system but it is survivable. Just wear the right clothes for the weather or stay in air conditioned comfort. By late March it is starting to cool.

    Loved the video! The sun here is a bugger but thats why we slip, slop, slap haha. I think the earlier closing shops really ties in with Australia's relaxed attitude - we can always go Thursday Night or on the weekend, no need to rush and like you said - go home, have a beer (or wine) and watch something, I prefer RUclips. Little secret I found at least in Sydney, if you only use public transport during peak hours its cheaper to cop the fine over paying the fare. Maybe it changed but I saved a few hundred dollars a year doing that back in 2010-2015. Can't argue, Sydney is super expensive... Thats why we stay home and drink beer and wine lol.
    The secret is owning a home. If you do that and pay it off, you're basically set and can use the future profits to do whatever you like.

      I am not sure where you are from , however I would recommend the Gold Coast, it is 77 kms from Brisbane, Brisbane is a pretty good city of about 2.5 million, while Gold Coast has a population of about 680,000 BUT about 12 million tourists visit a year, pretty much spread evenly over the whole year, so at any one time about 1.7 mil people so it is a city with a lot of vibrance, opportunity, touristy, good looking and a great beach and great all year round weather...usually. No 2 I would certainly Choose Sydney over Melbourne, although many would say otherwise, but Melbourne gives you thought of something Gloomy and forboding, where as even on a overcast day, Sydney seems bright , energetic and full of life.....and it IS more pretty...average wage in Sydney...in Australin dollars..about $2,040 per week.

    It's easy to move to regional area with state sponsorship for a new migrant with PR, but it's not easy to get the required job. There's a clause/moral obligation that comes with state sponsorship, which confines to stay in regional area for atleast 2 years or so.

    • @Whatsnextakanksha
      @Whatsnextakanksha  2 года назад

      It’s due to depleted ozone layer over Australia which causes more UVA and UVB rays to penetrate the atmosphere. And yes as you said, Snowy is at a higher elevation that means more exposure to the rays. 😊

    As much as I love Sydney / Australia, the one worst thing for me is how expensive the grocery stores are compared to the UK. 1 pack of mushrooms in a grocery store in the UK is 69p (around $1.20AUD) - in Woolworths is $7! 3 Peppers (capsicum) are 99p, in AU its $8.90.
    Its absolutely insane prices. Thats nearly 5 times more expensive after currency conversion yet the minimum wage is only twice as high as the UK - just does not add up🤷

    • @Whatsnextakanksha
      @Whatsnextakanksha  2 года назад +6

      Yeah Australia is an expensive country but the wages compensate for the high prices. No one gets minimum wage. There are additional loading added which make the wages higher so on a weekday, a casual retail worker earns $26 an hour and on a Saturday- $36, Sunday $40 an hour.
      However, it doesn’t negate the fact that everything is super expensive in Australia.

      @@Whatsnextakanksha yeah, that's true. Its not often someone is on absolute minimum wage. It was just a niggle I noticed when living in Sydney, saying that it's worth staying there for - its an incredible place.

    As an Australian I say DON'T EVER move to Sydney!! why do international people romanticize that dump. It is a hotspot because it has the major international airport and people are too dumb to realise how big Australia is and how many better places there are in the country to live. I grew up in Sydney but moved to North Queensland, my life has been so much better.

    • @Whatsnextakanksha
      @Whatsnextakanksha  2 года назад

      Sydney is kind of the starting point for everyone. As an international student I chose Sydney for the job opportunities but if I would have lived there for longer, I would have moved out to possibly Queensland or Western Australia.

      @@troycambo I am sorry to break your assumption, neither am I rich nor ever lived in posh areas so what am saying does not come from privilege. Hi Jacob, I will answer you honestly as it is a fair question, my best way to answer it is that I was in a large mall recently and at a shop run by an Indian guy and his two sons...if was an exposed shop where it would have been easy to steal things, so we spoke about that and the father told me..no no no...there is no crime here" They were HIS words and not mine, furt her Jacob with 50% of Australians or with at least one PARENT BEING BORN overseas, no one can accurately claim Australia is racist, example...one of the cities in Sydney is called Hurstville...it is basically a |Chinese city,, another is Campsie...it is basically KOREAN majority..Cabramatta mainly Vietnamese, Fairfiled mainly middle east and for Indian at a place called ..Woolgoola..and except for Woolgoola, which is a really nice count ry town the other places are all in Sydney and with SO many ethnice mixes, while you do get racism, most of it is imaginary. \Unlike nearly every other country on earth when you get off the plane and they refer to you as a foreigner, you wont be referred to that when you step off a plane in Australia, you will be accepted by what sort of person you are.

    tHE COST OF LIVING: It is a mirror trick, groceries are not expensive by internationla standards, rent is, but not as much as in London, Los Angeles, New York etc and the wages are higher and t hings like hospital and medical is wayyyyy cheaper and the issue of expensive transport is not, unless you want to take a taxi every where.....................................

    How much money would you need for a 2 week holiday in Sydney?

    • @Whatsnextakanksha
      @Whatsnextakanksha  2 года назад +1

      That depends on a lot of factors -
      The kind of accommodation you want to stay at, the time of year you are visiting, whether you’ll hire a car, whether you’ll eat in or eat out. The number of activities you want to indulge in.
      In short, a budget trip to Sydney for 2 weeks can cost anywhere between $1800-$2000

    • @Whatsnextakanksha
      @Whatsnextakanksha  2 года назад +1

      Every person’s cost of living is different and you can always manage to spend more/less. I cannot comment on whether it will be enough or not because Sydney is an expensive city and on that salary you’ll pay higher taxes.
      It could be just about enough but 2 people should be working in the household to afford living in Sydney.

      Sydney and Melbourne are both amazing cities. Melbourne is slightly cheaper but if you work in any of the two cities, you’ll be able to afford a good life there.
      There are pros and cons to every single place you want to move to. You will never find the perfect city.
      Focus on the “why” you want to move to and you’ll have a great time.
