@@necronom4792 the Eastern Roman Empire major expansion was under the Justinian Dynasty, "Justinian I" was the last emperor that speaks latin and his most famous commander was Belisarius

AOE4 Byzantines match the Romans of Basil II onward with the emphasis on mercenaries as opposed to AOE2 which seems to be closer to Justinian era because in that game they speak Latin.
@@carlossime6572 It was mostly the retaking of Roman land rather than expansion in the sense of conquering new lands. From their perspective they were just retaking what was theirs.

Think palatine school is a bit overkill when youre only making limitanei, usually makes more sense if you spam varagians or cataphract as there youd save some gold

One thing I may have done with a map like that is have one sand bay between the cliffs so only one person can have control over fishing rights. Dunno, maybe its a bad idea.

I'd prefer it if this map had 2 paths down to the water perhaps blocked by treelines, so the water was a late-game only feature (ie. after the treeline had been chopped through).
Mongols would struggle on this map. No Oovoo for them.
All the more reason to get it in the ranked pool lol

Byz civ = affordable units as a spearmen, Aussie Drongo "can we talk about this unit please, it needs to be nerfed". 2 days prior, "Palace guards are so over powered look at them go you can't tough them, but I'm not going to call for them to be changed" lol Only Aussie Drongo can call for a trash unit to be nerfed and units like the palace guard is just A-O-K lol
The one big issue I am seeing with this game as being a new player. The match making needs a lot of work. Level 15 going up against veteran and people of multitudes of skill more than new players is going to make it hard to get used to and want to keep playing the game. There isn't a lot of helping videos that really go over the basic strategy of starting out. Another thing is unit management on console is basically garbage compared to PC and I like playing against cross platform but don't like the advantages they have over consoles. Only other issue I have with the game is the maps and learning then seems to never be the same every time you get the map so it's hard for me to know how to play the round because I don't know the to play the terrain to my advantage. Only thing I would recommend for your channel is to possibly think of having multiple spots to show all the players in the game all the time. I find it hard to keep track of what someone's doing swapping back and forth. But I know that's what has to happen to keep track of the battles. But maybe giving each player a section of the screen so we can constantly watch them would be something id like to see on the channel.

Yes. English win this match up late game. They just print MAA into your Limitanei. So if do run out of gold your actually in a really bad spot because you need xbows and vguard, who cost twice as much gold. Hre with relics are in a similar boat.
@@traviscumbest3946 depending on contract and imp landmark youd have to consider that byz still get handcannons and siege to deal with MAA or that the varagians get quite a bit cheaper via the palatine school

Are they really too good ? What I found impressive is pretty much the ability of the Malians to have the same eco as the Byz with 40 less villagers. THIS is busted.
