- The final exam of Navy boot camp is an intense, 12-hour experience designed to test sailors under pressure and make them perform under stress, all in a recreation of a guided-missile destroyer. It's the culmination of boot camp training, and its name says it all: Battle Stations.
Follow along in our series "Becoming a Sailor" to see what Navy recruits experience as they go through boot camp at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, the Navy's only recruit training facility. (Military Times/Syndicated in Partnership with Sandboxx )

Navy: don't discuss battlestations with anyone who hasn't done it
Also navy: (does this)
Well in that regard I think they were telling us to not tell other recruits about it. At least that's what they specified for us. If you're referring to Page 13.. I don't know. Technically they don't show or even say everything that goes on.
- ^-
BRUH SAME
Does it end with Mythical Spaghetii?
Yeah not showing anything really
The best feeling was being able to put that Navy cap on and shake my RDC's hand
Facts I cried lowkey
RIGHTTTTT. I was so happy to shake my crazy but hot RDC's hand
I was in tears, i cried like a bitch
The best feeling of having more freedom and seeing the next bus of fresh recruits arriving.
I still have the basketball navy and that recruit cap they gave me.
The only issue I have with these boot camp documentaries is the part where in boot camp we had to sign a non-disclosure agreement on what goes down in battle stations, but they literally show you and tell you what happens in battle stations here. hooyah navy
Larch Ego for real that makes no sense
I was thinking that this whole time
Probably because these are approved by the Navy to be made
Josh Stalkfleet I know right???? So fuck us I guess
Josh Stalkfleet right!? wtf!? i mean there were sooooo adamant on it when i went thru in 2010... i mean it’s also like a big fucking deal/ honor to do..
Yeah it was a good feeling after 12hours, putting on the ballcap and shaking RDCs hand but was even nicer walking off the ship and outside to seeing the sunrise, new day new beginning.
Page 13: Am I a joke to you?
LMAO EXACTLY
Funniest shit I’ve seen all day
Was thinking the same thing myself
Ong bruh😂
We have to sign a page 13 but they can post a video about it and showing what's involved with it... Go Navy.
Open your Bluejackets Manual and you'll see them talk about it.
The page 13 is mostly to avoid helping recruits at RTC.
Page 13 is just for you to not tell other Recruits what happens cause it's supposed to be a surprise to then what happens and you think this video shows everything that happens no it doesn't it only shows some of the things and barely even that
@@KMcNally117 we weren't allowed to read our bluejackets manual for that reason
I graduated 2 weeks ago, still remember every scenereo. The toughest part for me was after we finished lol staying awake for about 26 hours. Falling asleep marching was funny. First time I experienced that. It was fun, memorable. I would do it again. You learned a good idea what you can handle and what you truly learned in bootcamp as an individual so i say study all. Because your knowledge will be tested even after battle stations. Study study study. Ask questions. Shyness and fear to stand up and ask will work against you here.
it happened to me too!
I didn't know sleep marching was a thing.
(until I walked off the road into deep snow as my division had made a left)
Omg the sleeping while marching 😂😂 a sailor in front of me kept walking off the side walk and I was dying
I fell asleep trying to stenciling my Navy ballcap. If you saw my ballcap, you can see a straight line and some dots
I fell asleep during the morning chow after battlestations. My RDCs had some fun by letting everyone get up silently and line up to return their treats then wake me up by yelling in my ear to stand at attention. They immediately laughed after scaring the shit outta me and patted me on the back
*I SIGNED A PAGE 13 FOR THIS!?*
Battle stations isn't hard at all. It's actually kinda fun.
Noah Macabales I’m super nervous about it to be honest.
@@jaydood don't be boot camp easy. Just make sure you can pass the prt before you leave, don't talk, do what your told, and study
Jay Stafford see ya there buddy , I ship out May 7th, hbu?
Lo Boat May 7th!
Lo Boat Me 2! Wow twins
The capping ceremony was literally the closest to a graduation we had
You guys didn't do pass and review anymore?
@@RamusHelstein nope. We just marched inside the atlantic drill hall and that’s it.
@@AgentofChaos315 ahahahah make sense
Covid boot camp was easy but fuck rom in the drill hall.
U finished Battle Stations but failed Bootcamp?
The best feeling in the world this past Wednesday morning walking off that ship as a Sailor
If you never physically served and persevered in the US Navy, you will never how this profession molded to be the best! Served 22 1/2 years active duty and proud of it.
Mario Alvarado, SKC(SCW) USN Ret.
I cried after i got that ball cap😂🙈
I jerked off when I got mine... fucking epic
@Ancient Link no, I just masterbated with a fiery vengeance of hate and sexual desire
You're not alone. My RDC was like "Why the fuck are you crying", to which I responded that I was proud of myself and my division.
You’re not by yourself, lots of them did.
Well there goes the Pg.13 nda I signed 2 weeks ago.. hooyah 187!
what is Pg.13 nda?
@@ronaldmartiny5425 He can't tell you because he signed a NDA that prohibited talking about Page 13.
@@whiteknightcat damn ight ig ill learn what it is in 25 days lol
Hooyah 045
Lol I was Div 187 just a year after you
Waiting for JT’s comment
CLIIIIIIIINT
I found so many of his signatures at bootcamp
@@joshuawilliams6741 where? In heads?
Literally the best part, I feel like I learned more there than the entirety of that place. Every other part of bootcamp was pretty boring, and depressing. I didn’t find it stressful, or intimidating, and I didn’t once have a problem with feeling tired. It was actually pretty fun.
Just stay awake, work as a team, and remember your training and it's all breeze. That's all there is to know about battlestations.
TODAY MY SON PASS THE BOOT CAMP EXAMEN !!!! MOMMY IS PROUD! GO NAVY
I completed battlestations a month ago. It was one of the best feelings in the world. Rewatching this now that I've actually been through it is kinda cool
I did the old model but helped work out the kinks on this one. Maybe this is more effective but running around outside, station to station, all night was way more fun.
Just graduated boot camp, and am on that 15 hour bus ride to Pensacola, it felt good to put the navy cap on then walking outside to see it was snowing.
I think the worst part of battle stations was staying awake
Lol since when has it snow in Pensacola and how long do you have to stay awake for Brodie? I’m going in to get recruited
I took my oldest son to the recruiter and they were talking about this...almost signed up again under the buddy system....
Today's my son graduation is celebrate at 9 am from boot camp! So excited!
Que?
I was one of the first divisions to do battle stations in that white building back in 1998. So much running, but the brunch afterwards was awesome!!! even though we only had 15 minutes to eat.
Does anyone else remember Lee Greenwood Proud to be an American being played after passing Battlestations?
So much for that page 13 I signed last week
I’m Enlisting in the US Navy after I graduate this year in the NJROTC Program, I already contacted my recruiter, Ive just turned 17 last month, I’m choosing my job as a Gunners Mates Riverine Machine Gunner, I see that the Navy is stereotyped these days that the Navy is less about war fighting that the Navy is all about Boat water engineers, and it has basically been like that 15 years after the last World War&Korean War, which is not true there are jobs like Navy Seals, Combat Pilot, Missile&Rocket Technicians, Gunners Mates, Riverines, Combat Medic Corpsman, and much more etc etc.
Battle stations was a blast but so hard to stay awake. Still to this day any time somebody asks me about battle stations I tell them gotta find out for yourself. My lips are sealed.
I'll never forget that night! I pissed blood in the head and my shipmate Griff saw it. Had to tell him NOT to tell our RDC because I was sick and ready to go! Had pneumonia and couldn't run 20 feet without stopping. Plus it was January! When I joined I was a pretty muscular 207lbs. Then I received those vaccines. My wife didn't recognize me because I dropped to around 160lbs and to this day I still don't know why!
You’re gonna make a fine warrior when shit hits the fan. Hooyah!
There was no battle stations when I went through boot camp in 1978. Boot camp looks so much better now. Would not mind going through again lol. Much more intense now.
My rdc that was taken off my division was surprised that I made it to battlestations😅
Yoo that’s crazy lol. Chief Espe was my chief in bootcamp. He told us how he used to work in battle stations and then he transferred to being a chief of our division. Dude was chill af and hella funny
when I was in battle stations, i remember pooping my pants while there was smoke everywhere and we had to rescue the dummies
Battlestations was awesome.
Man, I doubt I would have made it. I always wanted to join the Navy since my Dad was 20 years Navy, but I chickened out and never did join up. Watching these videos just affirms my thinking that I would have never passed.
@@ShelbyFarrow These videos make boot look way harder than it really is. The only thing that got people pushed back in my division was the final pfa. If you are in shape and can run a 1.5 mile in ~12:30 depending on your age, you will probably make it through.
You only have to run a 16:10 1.5 mile to get in. If you are worried about the academics you have to think about how you will be reading for multiple hours a day for 5 weeks about the stuff you need to learn (which isn't even complicated, just memorization) on the 2 tests which are in weeks 2 and 5. If you are worried you won't catch on with the skills like damage control or line handling, you get hands on training with that stuff starting like week 1 or 2, all the way until battlestations in week 7.
My point being, if you are at least physically acceptable before you go in and you can passed high school, you can get through Navy boot. They really do give you all the training you need. I would say you should start running before hand though if you dont already.
Tom Lom Would I have been able to enlist with flat feet? Some people have told me I wouldn't have been accepted anyway due to my feet.
@@ShelbyFarrow Yes! I don't even think you need a waiver. You get your feet checked at meps but at boot they give you personalized fit shoes and there are a ton of people who got flat foot shoes
Battle stations was fun
I had to sign paper to not talk about this Lmaooooo
We never had battle station type situation back in 1979 RTC san Diego
Went through battle stations on August 29, 2003…Division 286! 🔥🔥🔥
Battle stations is 12 hours but you’ll be up for 24+ hours in total
As a Nuke, most of this never applied. This stuff was a cake walk compared to learning and applying everything we needed in managing a Reactor and Engineroom... and then we were responding to almost every single drill in the book while most of the CONE would roll over and go back to sleep...
I complain but I am also taking my training in POWER and making 130-160K each year while playing on RUclips during most of a 12 hours shift. Hiking a pair of 14ers tomorrow morning and catching a half day White Water Rapid trip before throwing Girls around the dance floor for probably 3-4 hours tomorrow night. So it isn't all bad.
Division 482 1998. Petty officers never wore Khakis that was for Chiefs only and an earned right and we wore dungarees and not camouflage.
U could only wear Navy ball cap if u made it past general quarters. My hat way Recruit for 9 weeks
Young people today are spoiled and need a wake up call. We didn’t have cell phones and didn’t need them
I was sworn to secrecy about this 😂
I’m reading these comments. Yall didn’t fall asleep during the capping ceremony? Cause I could barely stay awake
Thank you for your condolences everybody. I recently found out I am disqualified from the Navy because I was told my cock would act as an anchor on ships. God is good and I am looking forward to the next chapter
REALLY!!!! You’re awesome
Damn GMC ESPE! Served with him on USS MOMSEN when he was GM1.
Baptism by Fire. Hoo Yah Navy!
1994 this didn’t exist. My battle stations was on the flight deck with planes were catching on fire and hitting kitty in port 😂
I love the music
Completed this exercise in 2007 with division 280. I don’t remember it feeling like it was 12 hours. If you’ve got some common sense you’ll be fine.
The battlestations ship P way isn’t too realistic; so much space in between
Im ready! I leave next month!
Thank you so much..
They hyped this up like it was hot stuff but in reality me and my shipmates came out truly disappointed 🤦♂️
Tonight my son is doing Battle stations.
Ahhhhh... good times 😭
What’s the first rule of battle stations?
shame battlestations is so easy now, i was in the last battalion to do the old battle stations.
12 hours?? Back on 2004, it was well over 24 hours, we weren't allowed to sleep or nap whatsoever lol. But during one of the rescue missions where we had to go into thick smoke to find people inside a cafe, I hid under one of the tables and got 25 minutes of sleep LOL. I was one of the ones they had to find and none of them could find me. Was awesome
I ship out in a month. I'm going to try that, thanks for the advice
Why did I sign a page 13
Chief Powers is the goat 👏🏼 hooyah 214
Wow. Good thing I watched this whatever that page 13 is. I'm leaving on the 12th this month. T_T
Is that all it is now is the stuff on the ship? I went through it in December 2000 and the ship part of it was only a fraction of Battlestations. There was all kinds of stuff we had to do, running around everywhere completing different obstacles around the base
Mine was in 2008, yours sounds different from mine. Mine was what was shown in the video and other stuff left out. Battlestations was amazing, but I think your experience was likely more fulfilling having more stuff to do than mine. Seems like mine was shortened down.
@@karanoelle4819 yeah it was crazy, I guess it got toned down for some reason
To all talking about page 13 agreement lol it's mainly so we don't spill it to recruits that will be going through it. If someone's viewing this video that means they aren't a recruit in bootcamp at the moment. But i feel yah lol
Sh’t was fun! I want to go back!😭🙌🏾😍🤣
They got it easy.
Bulletin fron a retired sailor
Battle stations now seem like a joke... go back to running around the base, from the barracks to pool, firehouse etc...
I’m 12 and I want to join the navy so badly if anyone can tell me why I should not or why I should definitely join which I want please do so!
Start a business dude.
Page 13's anyone?
I am getting shipped out July 21 this year after I graduate highschool and I am so nervous for bootcamp because I am underweight right now, even though I eat a lot it hard to gain weight cause I got a fast metabolism.
Hey that’s a day before my bday XD
But good luck to you, you got this. All you really have to do is follow instructions, eat healthy and hydrate. There are others who were underweight but they built up muscle weight while they were in, so don’t worry too much
Welp I'm happy I read the Pg13
How come now I can only see this video after I’ve been to Rtc, WTF
CLIINNNTTT
Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to shake my RDCs hand. Covid really ruined a lot for this past years recruits. No Gas Chamber, no armed watch training.
Fun fact Universal Studios helped make Battle Stations
I remember battle stations being 24 hours
Park in Officer parking- take (drunk) buddy to his barracks- Parking Ticket in the 15 minutes there on a liberty day- argue my case to the E7 of the day- "recite the Sailors Creed"... 'Huh?' "recite it and I will void it." 'Ummm, Chief I can't remember the last time I did.' "lucky you, it is right behind you" ....*OMFG this chick has a hard on for the Navy* I recited it and walked out shaking my head.
Funny thing is, it wasn't hard to stay awake, honestly everyone SHOULD pass, you really need to try to fail. Plus, they show quite a bit here surprisingly, guess they said fuck page 13
So we just said fuck chief and went and made this video, right? That’s what we do now?
Bootcamp, A school and the fleet are nothing alike. Bootcamp, although stressful and hectic, fleet is way worse. Enjoy every bit of your time in A school
Literally designed by Disney. It's always fun to see the family friendly corporations crossover with the military industrial complex.
Does battlestation happen on the last week of bootcamp?
It’s within 2 days of graduation
Usually but sometimes it happens earlier
Thanks!
I just graduated a week ago, and battlestations for me took place 1 week before graduation
We got lucky, firefighting was our last one XD
Do you have to go in as A ND or can you become a diver with any rate?
Anyone thats in these comments before they watch this if ur planning on going in do not watch this part its like spoiling a movie ur about to watch
Easiest part of boot camp
why cant clint put his arms down
Wht the show ths ? They make me to sing to dnt talk about this and videos in you tube all over😮
Anybody have the video they showed us at the end?
I SIGNED A FUCKING PAGE 13 FOR THEM TO PLASTER IT ON RUclips!! WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!!!
I fucking miss this!!
PDay was harder tbh
My battle stations team scored 100% (5.0) no one was hit on anything. #TeamBravo #GodSquad
we didn’t 😂 idk how we passed
I'm not gonna say what the ship was a replicant of, but it definitely wasnt a guided missile destroyer, just...sayin
Closer to a carrier
@@marshingo5262 it's an arleigh burke class destroyer
@@garyritchie6649 sarcasm

Does anyone really fail Battle Stations though? I mean, do they fail entire divisions? Because, it's a team exercise right? Come on.
Nah a team rarely ever fails, someone failed for falling asleep in our Div, that was it though
I just graduated boot camp, there was a a team that failed and had to retake battle stations
HOOYAH 312
