    As someone who was in band in high school(I’m in the US, not sure how that works in Canada) the scenes where y’all were fucking around with the musical instruments both had me in stitches and cringing so hard. The part where Nic was under the floor complaining about long the test was taking and somebody was above him fooling around with drums and a piano and shit nearly killed me. 😭💀🤣

    Usually in the UK, our version of a good system to replace a old, non compliant system would be a Advanced MXPro5, the MXPro5 is kind of like the NFS panels with different models for the amount of points you need.

    The Fine Arts building at my college also has smoke detectors installed above the drop ceilings in the corridors! It was originally set up that way when the building was built in 1978 with a Simplex 4207 system; now they have a Notifier NFS2-640 system, but they still have smoke detectors above the ceiling tiles in the corridors (mostly System Sensor i3s and at least one 2151T; it's set up in a conventional manner as they reused the existing Simplex pull stations).

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  7 месяцев назад

      It is much harder on the body to use the homemade lamp one as you have to carry around heavy sealed lead acid batteries we use that one for conventional old Edwards heat detectors that pop if you use the solo tester

    • @joeycaridi3030
      @joeycaridi3030 7 месяцев назад

      @@nics-systems-electric The ones that are too loud are set on high volume in a reverbarant space where sounds get easily louder (which was probably with the old bell system) as they should get turned down to low volume or probably with black tape inside the device on the horn grille that's done by taking the device apart so it can look up to code if its still loud on low volume and the ones that are quiet must be turned up to high volume and more devices need to be added where its too quiet

    • @mikeross880

    Let me tell you something: If I did a commercial fire alarm system in my house. I would not put horns in the rooms (I'd just do strobe only in the rooms) because having horns in the rooms is not good for my autism and would cause me to panic and have trouble sleeping. I don't know how you deal with it but you do what you want.

    • @nics-systems-electric
      @nics-systems-electric  7 месяцев назад +1

      I deal with it because it is a legal system installed properly and you have to have 75 dB

    • @falsernet
      @falsernet 7 месяцев назад +1

      You might find sounder bases set to low volume easier to deal with. That's my intention when I move house. I get where you're coming from, but in the event of a fire you definitely want to be woken up, and to meet the decibel requirements (more like recommendation in residential) you'd probably have to either have low volume inside, or high volume outside the bedroom. High volume can be disorienting but if having a sounder in your room gives you anxiety then high volume outside might be the way to go.

    • @falsernet
      @falsernet 7 месяцев назад +1

      To clarify in case you don't know, a sounder base is basically just a piece you put on the ceiling before the detector goes over it, making it a nice lil hamburger that's effectively kinda like the residential smoke alarms you normally see

      Glad to hear. 40:03 The L-Series isn't working because they wired up the device backwards or the NAC polarity is weird due to the way how its wired or the previous device that goes to this device downstream might have gotten wired backwards as well (the 1 negative and one positive got their places switched where it goes to this device or it wasn't wired properly)

      Not for these ventilated ones but many of the older crawlspaces that are more confined and potentially have wood rot then definitely gas detection. I'd have to look at the book to say exactly when you do and don't have to though
