You have no idea how grateful and happy I am that you reacted to the backstory. Usually, many people recommend Daybreak from his Bastau concert without any context. And this reactions can be very frustrating when reactors only respond to the Bastau version but don't know the sad story of this song and don't even try to turn on the subtitles. I can understand that many of the dears would rather respond to this version simply because it is incredibly powerful. However, in my opinion it loses a lot of impact if you don't know why he sings the way he sings. As powerful as this performance is, I get nauseous when the reactors jump in the seat and yell "Beautiful! Yeah! Good! Great! Perfect! Cool!" without knowing what they are actually reacting to. So thank you so much for that. You can really hear that he must have been in a lot of pain. I heard him say in an interview that it was very painful throughout the song, that his throat feels like shredded glass but he didn’t want to disappoint the people who stand behind him and so he pulled himself together and went on stage. He got 5 injections from this doctor in the hospital. And the doctor told him not to sing high notes. You can see how concerned the other competitors were and they suffered with him. They knew he was not doing well and one of them even gave him a very expensive Chinese medicine from his own inventory. The problem was his busy schedule between the performances and he didn’t have enough time to recover. He made very good friends there and many friendships still exist today. After the performance he lost his voice again. It’s unbelievable how he always manages to convey emotions to such a degree. Though I think in this one particular version the emotions he shows are mostly concern about his voice keeping up with the song and the pain he must have been in doing it. Now you really have to react to Daybreak from his Bastau concert in 2017 in Kazakhstan after he finished The Singer competition in China in the same year. It was his first solo concert after The Singer competition and also from 2017. The Bastau version (no sore throat) of Daybreak is phenomenal and mind-blowing. So emotional and heartbreaking. Especially now, that you know the backstory. ruclips.net/video/2kZTJjLoD64/видео.html Grateful greetings from Germany👋❤️
Thanks for the comment. I was guided by the dears. And the healthy version is next. I was genuinely worried watching him perform even knowing the outcome. Thanks again 😊.
Bless you for your reaction. This is from The Singer in 2017 when he was 22 yrs old, only non-Chinese vocalist and the youngest. Competition for professional well-known artists. He was a wild card. His 1st competition without his family there. Dad later surprised him after Opera 2 (recommend it from Gloria Wu channel with backstory). In 2017 he spoke no Chinese and very little English. He ended up being loved in China and has returned that love. He sang songs in Chinese for the 1st time on this show. Truly incredible in every way…Dimash. The song is heartbreaking, touching, and clearly special for the audience and contestants. 😢❤😢
The singer at 5:42 in the video, is the singer who bought an expensive medication for Dimash. The other singers were 10-39 years his senior and they all cared very much for Dimash and took him under their wing. Then again, all of China fell in love with Dimash. It is hard to tell the difference at the beginning of his performance how much he was in because Dimash always gets emotionally invested in the song before he sings. Han Hong called Dimash her son, but Dimash had already formed a tight bond with one of the other singers, Terry Lin, and called him "Lin Papa." He gave a brilliant performance of this same song a couple of months after the competition was over at his Bastau Concert when he was completely well. It was stated that he was sick for about three weeks, but he never missed a performance. All of the other singers were very concerned about Dimash singing that episode because they knew he was in pain.
@@B-Drags-Den Maybe react to that Bastau one as well? I would love to see and definitely enjoy that reaction too‼ Dimash has many versions of most of his songs...each version is a little different but beautiful in it's own way 🥰🎶🌹
Se veía la preocupación de sus compañeros de concurso Ya que ellos sabían lo que a él le pasaba Y cuándo terminó dice que no aguantaba el dolor que tenía en la garganta pero lo logró estoicamente❤❤❤😢😢
The nervousness I felt here with him pushing through was like please don't do long term damage or something... What you gotta understand with those throat injections is they're a last resort for singers. It's not fun and it doesn't really fix any problem. It can temporarily give you the ability to push notes out again, but every high note you hit is gonna hit you back immediately in a very real sense; it just hurts like hell. He was in pain on that stage and the audience was none the wiser because he would not let that show.
Es una canción muy triste y a la vez hermosa porque Dimash la canta con el ❤.A pesar de estar enfermo,se creció como lo que es : INMENSO. Gracias por tan conmovedora reacción,usted valora la buena música y los buenos cantantes.
Thank you for your wonderful, heartfelt reaction. It was obvious that the song and the backstory really touched you ♥♥♥ Dimash said that every note he sang felt like he had broken glass in his throat, it was very painful, but he pushed through it because he had to. He did an amazing job. For a direct comparison to what he can really do for this song when he's not ill, it is worth watching the Bastau concert performance too. I believe that he said afterwards that he wouldn't be singing it again on stage as it took too much out of him. There is another live performance that is absolutely incredible too, and that is Adai (a dombra instrumental) immediately followed by the song Daidadau. The background of that song is that a Kazakh writer, poet and activist was jailed by the Russian regime for sedition, and in prison they told him (deliberately, just for fun?) that his beloved wife was leaving him. This was his second wife, and they had fallen in love as teenagers but their parents disapproved of the match and had married them off to other partners. Eventually after both their partners had passed away they were free to marry at last, and they still had a deep and abiding love for one another. To hear that his wife was leaving him while he was in prison was torture. He wrote a letter to her asking if she was truly leaving him (she wasn't, she was working hard for his release, but he didn't know that). This is that letter set to music. His nickname for her was Daidadau. ruclips.net/video/Ra4v19Rp6cQ/видео.htmlsi=vY_36thRCu2C4cCS Dimash sings this with his audience at every concert. It has become a thing that he and his Dears do together.

Multiple injections in his throat from an infection..I can't imagine singing with that, but he was determined not to let anyone down.
Another request fulfilled, Rick, you are melting my heart! Loved your reaction, thank you so much! It's a sad story, very emotional but also so inspiring and it's even more moving with Dimash's voice. To know that he was feeling so much pain while singing it's heartbreaking. Plus, he was singing in Mandarin, a language he didn't speak and yet he was able to do such an amazing performance. You'll notice the difference in his voice between this performance and the one he did a few months later at his Bastau Concert. I hope you'll get to know him better. Probably you're gonna love him as much as we do. You're one of my favourite reactors, seriously. With love.
👉 Emotional and heartbreaking. I keep crying, even though I've heard the song 1000 times. If you don't know, you don't hear it... Dimash lost his voice before this performance (Singer 2017). The doctor gave Dimash 5 injections in his throat and a competitor gave him 'traditional medicine'. All competitors kept their fingers crossed for him and cheered him on. But, if you don't know, you will hear Dimash's voice as powerful and passionate as ever. After this performance, he was asked how his throat felt and he said it felt like broken glass in it. Shortly after he sang, he lost his voice again.

He was in SO much pain and as someone who has been singing my whole life I have no idea how he pulled that off other than the fact that he's just incredible. I cry every time I see/hear this performance because knowing how sick he was just adds another layer of heartbreak to an already gut-wrenching song. If you watch the episode you'll notice that he doesn't appear in the group green room immediately after his performance as the performers typically would. It would take another several weeks before his voice was fully recovered.
Truly heart breaking backstory to the song. Dimash lost his voice just before the competition show. He didn’t have his family with him. He was feeling very helpless and scared. You saw that he had to get throat injections. Those are not at all comfortable. But then the treatment wasn’t really working. I saw in another back stage video clip that another fellow competitor who became friends with Dimash offered Dimash some Chinese medicine for his throat and that helped him temporarily. Dimash regained his voice after receiving the medicine just long enough to perform that heart breaking and emotional song, and then he lost his voice again. He had said later in an interview that each note he sang was like having broken glass in his throat. 😭😱 But the only thing the audience felt was the heart break from the song he sang. He later performed this same song after fully recovered from his throat issues, at his Bastau concert. You should check out that version. 😊
Hi Bud, Great reaction to this heartbreaking song by Dimash, there is a slightly longer version of this showing one of his competitors giving him some tincture that would help him get through his performance which he did memorably but when he got back in the greenroom afterwards he was coughing up blood ... what a trouper!!! 👍👍😊
