Dimash, Igor Krutoy (Conductor, composer and producer), Yerlan “Erlan” Bekchurin (arranger) and Olzhas Qurmanbeck (Master of playing the Qoobyz or “Kobyz”, which is a two-stringed bipolyphonic instrument of Kazakh origin, very sacred in Kazakhstan): The Magnificent Four! We also have lyrics by Sharon Vaughn (USA) and arrangements by Dimitri Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan)!

He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Qobyz for that.
The Qobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the Qobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. In the end of Stranger he introduced him to the audience and he thanked them.
As a Kazakh he speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable.
As already mentioned, Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship.
Please react to Olimpico or also Ogni Pietra from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating.
This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯

Great review! Yes, Dimash has the talent, but this kind of prowess and perfection in music comes from him working his ass off since the age of five! He has studied music all his life and works diligently at perfecting his art. He is from Kazakhstan, University educated with a degree in contemporary music, a masters in composition and is working on completing his doctorate. His foundation is classical/opera, but he wanted to do more than opera by fusing it with contemporary and Kazakh folk styles. The stringed instrument is a Qobyz (co-biz) and Olzhas is one of the greats on that mesmerizing folk instrument. Please react to more Dimash! 🎉🎶💙🤗

Great reaction! Thank you. When you said, “I’ve got nothing but Wow!” I burst out laughing 😂 YES! Dimash has that effect on EVERYONE. You’re not alone. Many had said he’s not from earth, but he is very much human. In fact, a very humble, kind, respectful and loving human being, touched by the divine with talent and his dedication of hard work. Please check out ALL of Dimash’s songs, be it a cover or his own or ones composed by Igor. You will never be disappointed. HE IS THAT GOOD. In fact, he IS THE BEST VOCALIST IN THIS WOULD. Bold claim, but the more you check him out, the more you will realize that it is true. Have fun. 😊

Yes! And when you do run it to the very end you often see Dimash thanking the people he performs with, thanking the composer, or telling the audience how honoured he is to sing for them. This is the respect Dimash shows to others. You are on the same page and no Dimash Dear (fan) would ever want you to cut those bits off as they are integral part of who he is. And we all crave to find out who he is as a person as well as watch what he performs. He's a deep one. Philosophical, respectful, honourable, kind, and at the same time with a teasing silly side to him that usually comes out backstage. There are little clips of this on social media and some fans have collated them into funny videos showing his less serious side. He gives most of the flowers to hospitals and care homes btw. Thank you for a great reaction! ❤

Another great review. Glad you mentioned his stage presence. Off the charts! I’ve enjoyed a wide variety of music my whole life and I love that through channels like this, I can easily check out new artists (new to me at least). If I mention to my friends or relatives that I like classic rock or folk, no one bats an eye, but if I say I like classical music or opera or world music, or whatever it might be, not many people share those interests. I like the K-pop groups too. I’m especially glad to have “discovered” Dimash. What an incredible talent. Truly one of a kind.

It's a 2-stringed instrument called a kobyz, although their are many different spellings for it. The Kazakhs say it's the oldest stringed instrument played with a bow. List to Dimash's Tokyo Jazz performance 2020 of Samaultau to hear it make wolf and wind sounds in the background. You understand metaphors and similes, so you can't be dumb.

Dee Mahsh as in Mosh Pit.😂😂
Your Texan accent makes him sound like Mashed Potatoes😂🤣😂
The musical instrument is called a Kobys or Qobys.
Try reacting to "Samaltau" Tokyo Jazz Festival version to truly see how haunting it can sound along with Dimash's voice. Use cc's as it is sung in kazak.
Wow is perfectly fine, especially after that 20 second held note finale.

    # That instrument is the Kazakh KOBYZ. It is a very ancient instrument - carved by master craftsmen from a single piece of local wood & originally the 2 strings from horsehair, with the sound hollow lined with goatskin. It is one of several similar instruments found across the region, including into the Middle East & Asia- which are the ANCESTORS of all of the modern stringed instruments that we know today, like the Cello & Violin etc. In ancient times its sound was held to ve so hauntingly beautiful that the playing of the Kobyz was restricted to Shaman's / Medicine Men - as it was believed to have the power to drive out evil spirits & heal the sick

As u can tell from the comments many people know who and what he is, and he is not an alien. Please dont use that expression about him. He is a truly gifted and talented person, a wonderful human, kind, generous, very humble and a well-adusted young man. He took many, many years to train his voice and still continues to improve.
If you really believe he is an alien from somewhere, how do you think his parents feel about that. Be more respectful.

It’s meant in a complimentary way, as in his voice is so extraordinary he seems as if he can’t be human. I don’t see it as any different than when I say his voice is what angels must sound like. It’s in no way disrespectful…I’ve heard many reactors use the same term, and every single one of them was mesmerized and amazed by Dimash’s talent and ability.

      It’s an expression of praise.
      I don’t really think he’s a Martian.
Stating that his talent is beyond human is about as respectful as it gets.

      He's a little "CuttieBurger" to me... 🙂
That said, there are about 15 phonetic pronunciations noted in these comments and every one of them is just a little bit different.
      I'll do my best!
