The "spike and hammer" on the fence pliers, can also be used to dig up metal fenceposts that have notches. To quote Adam Savage, every tool is a hammer.
With all the god awful filth on the inter-webs, always happy to see what info. you’re putting out for those of us who are thinking about the big picture. Thank you for another lesson sir and don’t ever quit fighting the good fight. Looking forward to the next one.✌🏼and 🫶🏼 from the great PNW (Washington State)
I feel like you’re missing an opportunity on that water pump trailer. I’m thinking some of your basic hand tools maybe another chainsaw. Maybe some type of emergency flood lighting on it. Those hand held radios are cheap enough to assign one or two on the trailer. Just some thoughts.
Id add about 20 feet of fence wire. As great as it is to cut a barbed wire fence, sometimes you have to fix it to keep animals out or in. Just a suggestion. We keep a small roll on our brush truck. Found it help so many times.
I know they were a prototype at one point, but are those nozzles on your fuel bottles and dolmar can available for purchase?? I’ve looked everywhere for something similar but haven’t had any luck. I love how quick and easy it is to refuel your saws with those nozzles.
A few ideas: likely overkill but to consider Flashlight Pulaski Rope Come along Pole saw (obviously wouldn’t fit in the box) Angie grinder battery powered Spanner for fire hydrants with appropriate fittings (handy for true emergency) 4 in one key tool for commercial hose spigots Water key Halligan bar (surprised you don’t have one in general tbh lol) Also, in general why did you reduce tank size, I feel like more water is always better and you have two trucks. Have you ever considered building a dedicated rescue cache? Ideas include rope rescue gear, water rescue gear, some power tools (sawzall, grinder jacks etc)?
Have you considered a couple of Chainsaw Chain Lockers? No more tangled chain. A few pairs of gloves to hand out to recruits may come in handy. Do you have a fuel filter for your saw?
Dear mr W was wondering if the power washer (works) it’s a brand, was on Amazon was thinking on using it as a portable extinguisher , I used it back when I was a maintenance man wasnt much of a power washer but it was extremely mobile it was battery and had a suction hose you can put in a big bucket. I was thinking of a backpack bucket idea if ya see in your mind where I’m going with it, I know it sounds weird but for cost effective dealing with fire but my question really is do you think there’s an even cheaper idea for portable cheap water set up???
Resource list pdf please. Each best item and where to get it cheapest or how to make it. Any good training for wildland firefighting and even urban firefighting family style? Books? Videos? Those are my question/suggestions for this video. P.S: Now I know that is a fire shovel guard I found in my old RV and has been laying around my garage for years. I thought it had something to do with the RV dunp hose. Lol.
Not sure if you explained this or made a video on this, but can you answer on how one does join the usfs? Is there any requirements or specifics to join?
Cody, we recently bought a new car and I was cleaning out the trunk and the tool box in the trunk from the old vehicle. I found 10 emergency road flares that my Uncle gave me back in the mid 1970's so they are about 50+ years old. They appear to be in OK shape, but I am wondering if they change chemically and "go bad". What is your opinion? I just ordered a dozen new ones, but I would like to hear your thoughts.
The Kit seems like it would be too heavy to pick up and put in a truck (unless you have help) during an emergency though. That's the only downside I see. Looks to be very comprehensive though
How sketchy are the wire mesh goggles? Like do you feel like you have to engage your safety squints too? I hate having my z87's fog up as well as keeping them clean + clear, and I've thought about getting a pair of mesh's for certain task's but haven't because it doesn't feel right.
I’ve seen this box in action in a few of your older videos. I’m glad you did a full detail of it. Hope the fire stays away from the homestead. Prayers for y’all and homestead.
I was going to comment that the blue tourniquet is intended for training use, but now I can't find any reason why it's not usable as an active tourniquet. However, maybe it's worth noting that blue is often sold (by NA Rescue, for instance) as a training unit, while their black or red/orange is considered for hi-vis/other usage. I see nothing that indicates it to be different than the others in functionality (it better not be, lest the training be less valuable.) Maybe the only useful takeaway from my post (other than algo engagement boost) is to say to people: DO NOT train with a tourniquet and then plan to use it to save a life. Only pack unused tourniquets on your kits to be sure they won't fail. I've never read/seen any other advice. You don't want the thing to break or fail.
It is true, blue is used for training. But the blue ones are built exactly the same as the orange and black ones. (Black for military stealth and orange for civilian so its more visible to the medical staff). They should all be used only once... so the blue indicated that's its intended to be used over and over during many training sessions so ethically it shouldn't be trusted to save a life after being used (and potentially damaged or worn out) for training. So as long as he got the Blue one before it was used for training its perfectly fine to use.
I just realized Jack can now officially wear your Forest Service hard hat now ! 😂😂
"Stop it out with your crocs?" HAHA. That visual.
A rope handle and a pair of small wheels and that box would be easier to move around.
He usually moves it with the forklift. The wheels might just cause damage. Haha
Maybe adding a rope or some sort of ratchet strap to the kit could prove useful as well?
Or he could practice with his forge and make a metal handle and put a nice piece of leather on their to protect your hands when wheeling around
He would only do that if he got a small wheel sponsor
@@mcrossway5966leather handle ? He has his. SISSY MITTS
Great video! Always love overviews of tools and equipment👍🏻
AvE is a long time favorite. As an east coast man who's traveled west, you guys are some of my favorite people in America.

Would that be the T-post I use on my ranch in Arkansas.?
Thank-you for the video i have made a fire skid and need these videos as fires are bad here in canada
Great video, I have a large fire skid I built, love the tool box, going to add that and a smaller more portable skid for faster responses
Been loving the content recently, thanks Cody! Glad you're back to making the videos you want to make!
Another Home Run Video ! Awesome, I love this Channel!!
Definitely early in the year for it, but here we go... it was a warm winter, so I was worried about how bad the fire season would be this year.

Great set up brother. God bless you and your family!
Thanks for the info Mr W
lol, as I recall your few stacks of hoses in the other shop are two full pallets full. Love the content!
Really cool. I always learn something. Thank you for posting!
Hope you are well. Enjoyed this one, and thanks
Interesting point, since you are grounding with bare feet so often now, should you carry a pair of boots in your gear?
1:25 Sounds like he currently does
Cody,
What about some extra fire shelters in the go box? Thank you for taking time to film, edit and post this video

What are those blue spout caps on the MSR bottles and the fuel canister?

I was going to say a set of irons and a 6' hook .plus structural gear.
I can’t wait for this fire season to start! 😂
You should put on a Stop the Bleed class.
Be safe y'all.
Ur in my prayers..

Might be useful to include a can of construction spray paint in there. Arrows on trees, etc.
Gotta love a good members video. Any chance we can get a video on those Aero AR builds?

Can we see ProHo load that box in the back of the 250?
A pair or 2 of extra gloves will go a long way if you come accross, like you said, "A bystander to hand a pair of gloves and a tool"
Cory Quote of the Day: "What are you gonna do, stomp it out with your crocks?"
How often do you have too go and fight fires ? Hope your well
Fence pliers won’t cut it in my area. They won’t cut the number 9 fence wire. Lots of fence around my area is still all #9. Bolt cutters are a must.
Knipex has some 8" bolt cutters that (with a bit of persuasion) can cut 1/4" all-thread
I build fences for a living. I cut literally hundreds of 9G high tensile wires every day with a pair of fence pliers.
@@krisrutherford3763 what pliers do you use? sounds like i need some

What’s the size of that box and where would I buy these hand tools online? Thanks Kyle B NM
Have you ever carried Quick clot. I carried a few bags in my emt line bag when I was on the line. Thanks for the videos 😎😎.
Stay safe, Cody. I'm thinking of you guys.
All I could add to that is a good book…. I guess in down time reading can better than looking at a iPhone screen.
Another matter: re merch: can we have a long sleeve shirt available next time please? I'll leave the options of more than one colour with your 💭
Eh man, just wondering, how many times have you been stung by a bee and/or wasp? I was stung twice last fall just mowing my front lawn...
Can you make a axe safety video, I just got out of the er.
One thing you didn't go over is wildland firefighting gloves. What gloves do recommend using?
PROhO is the most organized man on the face of the planet.
@wranglerstar the company I work for. Makes the lid for the drip torch. I have poured them myself. Definitely cool to a see a part we make in use.
Do you work for waterax. If so I got some questions lol.
@@tomnaro I do not I work for an aluminum foundry that pour those lids for the forestry.

You forgot camera, lights and tripod. Camera batteries. Don't forget those.😉
GOD bless you and your whole family ✝️
No Pulaski?
Very good video....do you pack a tourniquet or 2...ya never know...when you may need one...
@5:50
I would add some sturdy backpack straps so your manservant can better move the box.
I’ve seen this box in action in a few of your older videos. I’m glad you did a full detail of it.

Prayers for y’all and homestead.
Lol the guy lives on a clear cut huge acreage in the middle of town and he running around in his fire costume
Who is your co-host?
What are the blue caps of the SIG bottles
Could you do a review on war wood tools
hey cody has your wife ever thought about doing some homesteading vids about food prep, gardening, ect?
Prayers...
I know you love the rouge hoe and rake. What is your shovel of choice?
Thank you PROhO for the wildfire preparedness videos.
Do something with that lathe! Think I saw your video where you made a tool handle with it years ago. You should dust it off.
Day 2 of asking for an axe collection video
Now you just need fire proof storage for the tools !
Can the firebox fit on/in your side by side? Is it PU truck only? Why/Why not?
Need bigger for fire..... Truck time.
nice
Are you back in the Wildland Fire side again or are you still not “needed” anymore
No fireboots in that box?
Please upload in 4k!
