Me and my grandkids are packing another barrel,am teaching them to always give back to those who needs help The barrel packing brings me and my grand kids closer and the bond of giving and it makes me feel like am still worthy
As a Jamaican, you’re authenticity is what o think others are liking.. I don’t think you need to change the way you speak to please others.. continue saying persons, cause that’s your culture and speech
I agree 100% with you. Rochielin be yourself that's what we love. I love the Jamaican way of saying words. I was born in England to a Jamaican family ...some of them here still continue saying persons in a casual way. I've always known it's part of the culture and loved it anyway. ..it's not something I gave much thought to
Sidenote: I was raised between USA & JA and I found it absolutely charming and adorable that my siblings a yaad say "persons" in place of "people" often. I already knew it was due to England so I didn't research the fact that the number of humans being addressed was a factor. So you taught me something 😄. I watch a lot of BBC TV and they use "persons" casually often as well. When I started school in the USA after doing Primary in JA I realized that we spelled many words according to the British way. We also favor tea over coffee, and even using the expression "you favor your father" is understood to mean "you look like your father" in England but said in America they would think you mean someone " *favors/prefers* their father as a person over someone else" as in favoritism 👀😣🤦🏾♀️ Lawd.
I like how you just video regardless of the people cuz those in the back of the line would def make me stop videoing cuz I don’t want nobody cuss me lol great vlog
Hey.. I’m Jamaican and I do question why others use “persons” instead of people (I did grow up in Jamaica and found it weird). I had to google it and it did confirm what you revealed in your video about it being used in a legal context.
It is a Jamaican usage of the word "person" in lieu of "people ". I believed it started about 5 years ago, but either way it is what it is. Thanks so much for your very Informative videos, now I know what is needed going and coming. I do intend to travel to Jamaica sometime this year, so I'll be prepared. Thanks and stay blessed.
Hi Rochielin, lovely informative video once again.... Thanks for the information about going through the red zone for when you have shipped any barrels etc... I am looking to travel to Jamaica in June from the UK.... Stay safe.
That is a new thing in Jamaica I left there 20 years ago and that was not the way we spoke. I have been surprised and few years later watching Jamaican News and programs and everyone saying Person. I live in the United Kingdom and they say People.
I find this video very informative. Before I watched this video, I was in the process of applying for authorization for a family member. My question is do you book the flight first before submitting the authorization form?? I am a little confused about that. Thank you
Go ahead and book the flight as long as you have enough time .. make sure the test is done within 3 days of travel and you sign up for the authorization immediately as you get the test results
Summer is my birthday sept 1 excited FRIST time travel from Florida to St Catherine jamicia visitor first time flying. My name is Shawnta I been watching u snice today love your spirit
It's not just a "Jamaican" thing. We use it hear in Guyana too, interchangeably. I do believe it follows the British norm because we were also once ruled by the British. That's just my view. Not sure if its completely right
Well, I am looking to forward to my yearly trip to Jamaica in July... I am waiting to see what the requirement will be like then: I'm more concern about returning to Canada and if I will need to quarantine in a hotel before going home? I live in Toronto and we've been under lockdown since November last year.🤯
Hello Rochielin .😀 My name is Ann Etta and I am a small Home Decor RUclipsr . I am from Guyana but living in a small French country in South America . I am binge watching all your videos and enjoying your humbleness , creativity and smiles .You are such an inspiration and soo unique 💖 🙌 .I am struggling with my channel to get subscribers but i will try to stay consistent because I love what I am doing even if I am not a pro at filming and editing. Be blessed Rochielin and keep pushing the great content .🙂😘 .
Haven't done the daily Covid check-in since March 2020 when the soldiers were programming it on everyone's phones. They haven't done that since the last 3 return trips to Jamaica.
Hellllo Roc my birthday bis august 14 so hopefully I will be in Jamaica on the 13 my question is is the Antigen test a qualified test to test to enter Jamaica the quicker results the better for me 🤣🤣
Nice but you explain as a resident coming back to Jamaica eg quarantine for 14 days but whatabout if your a visitor like Danielle has her quarantine days change??? If so how long
Is the $500US only for residents? I’m a Jamaican citizen who currently resides in New York. I had a different experience when it came to shipping and declaring (2) barrels and traveling with a carry on and two checked luggages. The items in each barrel and luggage valued over $500US ea. When I went to clear the barrels I paid a flat rate after telling them that I had food, clothes and body care for family with the intention of not to sell. They released both barrels sealed without checking it. I guess everyone’s experience is different.
@@Rochielin thanks for this reply, my wife and I will be headed to Montego Bay from the states in a few weeks and we haven't taken the vaccine nor want to. Everyone is on us about taking it b4 we leave but we're not with it...any suggestions?
Hi I just subscribe to your channel I’m in The UK looking to come in a couple of months thanks for the information and so far no vaccine to travel thanks great work stay safe
@Patrick Yahbenyah Everybody in JA has to quarantine for 14 days after traveling. I know another RUclipsr who filmed while he was supposed to be in quarantine and he got caught because it was on video
Rochielin, don’t feel bad I use the word person also, how was your trip to Florida I hope you enjoy your stay, I am planning a trip to Jamaica my favorite place can’t wait, Let's go Let’s go 👍👍💕💕.
This "persons" thing must be new. When lived in Jamaica in the 70s and 80s we use to say "people". Now when I am in Jamaica and I hear people saying" persons", it sound weird to me.
If you ask a question in order to find out the #, you say, " How many persons are in attendance? There are times when they may be interchangeable & other times one may be appropriate than the other.
🤣🤣🤣that's true I have to stop myself from saying 'persons'. At UWI I learned that 'person' is usually used in legal documents; and 'people': in every day lingo- you said it as I typed. For me and my circle I realise we say 'people' when using patois and 'persons' for Standard English. Talk a talk yaa, we understand you.
Hi daughter, It is good I find your site, I learn much. Traveling to Kingston in August, seeking retirement location. You are doing a great job! Let's hook up, peace and blessings!

Persons is actually informal. People is the correct form.
Is the $500US only for residents?

Traveling to Jamaica in a few weeks, what is the ‘right’ test that’s required for Jamaica travel and how long prior to travel makes it valid?
Wishing 3 days of travel . The rapid antigen test is fine

Did you both quarantine upon arriving back to Jamaica. I go Monday to visit my mother 🙏🏾
Yes
Did you have to send voice notes on the app each day ? How did it go
Hi Rochielin, the process you mentioned regarding going to the US and back to Jamaica, do you know if it's the exact requirement for the UK?
And now you have to quarantine for 2 weeks?
@Patrick Yahbenyah Everybody in JA has to quarantine for 14 days after traveling. I know another RUclipsr who filmed while he was supposed to be in quarantine and he got caught because it was on video
So do both of you guys have to quarantine?

This "persons" thing must be new. When lived in Jamaica in the 70s and 80s we use to say "people". Now when I am in Jamaica and I hear people saying" persons", it sound weird to me.
If you have a connecting flight what’s the process
If you ask a question in order to find out the #, you say, " How many persons are in attendance? There are times when they may be interchangeable & other times one may be appropriate than the other.
Hi Roch....I had a Jamaican friend that would always say “ How COMES you late ? “ .....instead of how come!
🤣🤣🤣that's true I have to stop myself from saying 'persons'.

#Rochielin# did u have to sign up on Jamcovid website when u were going to Florida or just when coming back to JA? i just want to confirm
Where do you get the travel form, I will be going to Jamaica next month
Travelling from Toronto to Jamaica, how is it.

I heard the tracking app is no longer required is that so?
People refer to a group. Person(s) used when you refer to countable # of individuals. To say a lot of people is like saying lm"little small"☺
Hello, so what if you plan to visit only for a week for vacation. How does that work with the quarantine requirements? Thanks
Watch this video hun, it will explain ruclips.net/video/fnlC9FoW2cc/видео.html
How about using the word Indivisual
Both words are interchangeable. They can both be used.
Did you have new items in your accompanied luggage??????? Cause I dont understand why customs must tek from the likkle free money weh government a gi we.

Chew gum when ur taking off or continuously chew on air
Rochliein, next Time you come to the States, come to Orlando, FL remain healthy.
in the uk we say people. in the usa they same persons. All are correct
I don’t think I use ‘persons’ to describe a group I think I use ‘people’. Listening to YT lately these words are used a lot: persons, elder, consume.
Me grow up in Manchester and it was people... persons must be a Kingston thing 🤔
I will be traveling to Canada and the USA.
whats the name of the app?
I can't wait com home
