really liked your video. I am a marketing student doing a project for my phd application and there is a part of the project where I want to put up some designs of a website. Can u suggest me a good , non-vector drawing app on mac (preferably free) that will be suited for my purpose?
I think that no matter in which industry you want to start out, sweet popcorn can only help you! So many foods in the US are soo much sweeter than in Germany, even the bread, why couldn't you get a hold of the sweet popcorn yet? You do realize that this can only change your life for the better, right? That you are holding yourself back here? Sometimes, you even get the jackpot when a few sugar corn are stuck together and you bite on that. Seriously, how can you live without that? Just reach for the stars and try the sweet popcorn. And once you conquered that, you will be ready for any job you want! ;)
Step 5. Build a full UX portfolio which looks like you have 2 years experience. I have been slowly making the transition into UX/UI, coming from being a Senior CGI Artist/Animator/Illustrator. Managed to get some interviews, while showing my experience and excitement for the role, even got an accredited degree from University. However if they are not able to see full breakdowns and examples of your work in UX, it's extremely tough to get through.
That's a very fair point! Showing your work and creative process is vital when building up portfolios and getting work! Great insight! Thanks for sharing Chad
I learn EVERYTHING on RUclips. This is by far the most to the point, helpful video I have ever seen. I wrote tons of notes and this is really helping me to start and I am forever grateful for the guidance. off to start step one! subscribed, followed, and all that stuff :) thank you!
Thanks a lot for that very kind comment! Check out this video too if you're looking for a UX job: ruclips.net/video/YB1sNFZ3-gs/видео.html Hope this helps!
I'm making a career change from music production and after going to a coding bootcamp for a couple months I decided I would rather do UX design, but I'm glad I have the skills to communicate with developers.
I am learning coding and want to learn ux too although coding isn’t imperative for ux I heard it is better to have coding knowledge for ux to make it easier to communicate with developers so I think having both skills is great :) that’s what I want to do
I’ve been trying to get in since March 2018, left my corporate job & probably now at over 40 interviews, they just won’t give me a chance. More often than not, they ask for at least 2-3 years experience for a Junior UX Designer role, which is ridiculous. I’m watching this video looking for a reboot of everything, hoping to get it right this time. Great recommendations & hoping that I finally get in the door.
I can’t thank you enough for these resources. I am unemployed now always been scared of taking the jump to do something new but now why not! You might of just changed my life 😊 thank you.
I really appreciate the fact that you Are not so greedy of your own channel but recommend other useful videos. This indicates that you genuinely wanted and want to help. A question: I want to get in the industry. I have Zero tech experience or knowledge. Only watched a couple dozen videos on coding and UX design as like yours. Wanted to go to a boot camp, App Academie, hack Reactor or Lambda school. Should I do that or wait and do what you suggested in this video first?
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this very informative video, it's really appreciated. I'm a designer with 25 years experience in the digital print industry and now looking to change direction slightly into UX design. Mainly because I will soon have to take redundancy due to Covid-19 and the lack of work at my current employers. This video has really helped me a lot.
Thank you so much for providing this video. I wanna get started in UX and even don't know English very well! but you talk with not hard words and i am happy that i can understand you. so much love from Iran ♥
I'm currently in my second semester of Foundation in Engineering and Science in my university and im really contemplating if i should continue to get my bachelor degree in computer science/engineering. As an 18 year old im constantly clueless of what i want to pursue because i wasnt sure of what i like, so naturally being the asian that i am i chose the engineering path because it was the "safest" path for me to be financially stable in the future. I could try and do the undergraduate majors such as civil, electrical, chemical, environmental engineering and make it somehow work for me but idk The more i delve deep into ux ui design the more i seem to realise that that is the work that doesnt feel like work to me. Even in my first semester when i was in a c++ group project the task that i enjoyed the most was choosing which ascii art header/border to use and designing/animating the ascii loading screen. The problem solving part with writing the codes just wasnt my cup of tea. Going into computer science would bring me too much into the technical side of things(aka backend which is a nono for me lol). Should i change my path? I'm too scared to lose a bachelor degree any help or advice would be very very much appreciated :( HAVE A GREAT DAY AHEAD OF YOU KEEP UP WITH THE AMAZING CONTENT!!!
I'm Arief from Indonesia, thank you for your information, probably this is one of the best youtube videos I ever have seen. Definitely will start to learn so much from your resources :)
Wow! I'm an industrial engineer and I didn't know UX Design is somewhat what I'm doing in my course. I am actually interested in graphic design these days and look for a niche. Then I see this video. Okay I think I can focus on this
Thanks for the great overview of getting into UX Design. I think you highlighted a lot of great points for ways to get started. High Resolution was one of my favorite youtube series for learning from experts in the field! I'd love to learn more about the in-depth, nitty-gritty details of UX design and your take on these guidelines and best practices.
I am so thankful to you for this amazing yet simple video. I am new in IT and still searching for my stream. I am also an artist so I got hooked up in UX design but didn't know where and how to start. Your video opened up so many doors for me. Subscribed..obviously..i would follow you for a long time. Thanks again
Great resources, thank you. I'm completely new to the UX world. I found my way to UX via my soft skills as a laboratory researcher and am now shifting careers toward UX. Specifically the UX-research and interaction design. What I can't figure out are what tools fit that UX niche, how they cross over to the UI world and how much of the UI world I need to understand as well. I do have an interest in all aspects but I'm also trying not to overwhelm myself with information and enter the dreaded analysis paralysis dimension.
Hey Matthew, we have a short video where we detail our favourite UX project tools. Tools like Basecamp, Miro (Realtimeboard) Slack etc etc for organising, managing, and detailing projects and data. Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/1FyWSHs9ObU/видео.html Hope this helps?

listened for some minutes, and i learnt somethings enough to make me want to know if there's more videos or a system i can follow in other to learn UX. i want to avoid learning how i learnt graphic design
Thanks for the helpful content, as usual. I'm transitioning from an unrelated industry, and I'm not sure I'm taking the right steps. I'm currently enrolled in a Udemy UX course (a different one than mentioned in the video), a design thinking course, and a sketching course. I also completed a CSS/HTML course and a content marketing course, and I'm starting to read design books. I plan on taking a boot camp in the fall to get some portfolio experience, but should I be doing something more "active" or output focused in order to actually practice UX?
Thanks for yet another great video! Would you guys be able to make a video discussing your guys’ thoughts on design school, masters programs, boot camps? If they’re worth it or not. It’d also be cool to know how different people on the AJ&Smart team got into UX!
Maybe your tech job market is in Dubai? Regardless of country or continent, the job market is so very competitive for UX design and most other specialized career fields. I wish I could figure this sort of thing out for myself over in the USA, but it's not easy to find a foot in putting my best foot forward out there for it's difficult to impossible to find someone high up willing to sponsor and refer you in order to get an actual decent job opportunity that leads to great things. I guess a bachelors may or may not be helpful as employers don't really value it, but it shows you understand how to work with knowledge, technology, and data. And then study an expensive certification that require 1 to 6 months where you are then talking face to face with people in the industry or who have connections. The thing is certification is very expensive, but could be done in the evening and weekends while working some unrelated job. There lots of cheap to free internet courses, but they don't count towards a job. They're just for learning and inspiration. Sorry I can't be more helpful for if I could, I could better help myself as well.
Thank you so much for such an awesome, resourceful, and useful content Brittni. RUclips probably suggested your video because I follow The Futur and I'm super glad it did! I'm not a designer (I'm an SEO), but I really love learning about UX design and design in general. I've been looking for other great resources to pull information and inspiration from, and I have to say that with your list I think I'm going to be set for at least a full year of learning and researching haha! So thanks for such a helpful AND funny video, I love your energy.

Thanks for these resources! Your info will really help me get started in this field. I appreciate that you didn’t link to courses and resources that you’re required to buy straight out. I was thinking of doing a boot camp but not quite ready to invest all that $$. I’m going to get started using your advice, ASAP, and go from there. Cheers! 🍻
Hey Jaclyn, thanks, some of them are sort of extended trial of courses, but you can get a lot of info from these stages too. Some are fully robust longer form courses that are free! Hope you enjoy these!
We eat sweet popcorn in France as well. We found salty popcorn strange actually haha. After going back and forth, I found them both good. I'd say sweet is better for watching action movies and salty is better sad and horror flicks lol, don't ask why, just try it ! ;)

Hope you enjoy these!
videos are so fun to watch and very helpful~ thx
Thanks glad they're helping!
Great video! Very helpful for someone who doesn't know how and where to start 👍👍👍
Thanks Patrycja!
We eat sweet popcorn in France as well. We found salty popcorn strange actually haha.
After going back and forth, I found them both good. I'd say sweet is better for watching action movies and salty is better sad and horror flicks lol, don't ask why, just try it ! ;)
One of the question I have is , when your designing an app, do you design it for all resolution types or just one for both android and iOS?
Design Drops 🤦
Hi @aj&smart what is the mat that you have under your Mac?
Hey! It's an A3 Cutting mat. Similar to this one

Great video! Can I know what camera you use to film your videos?
Thanks Anna, we used a Sony A7S mkii for this video! It's a great camera, and had a canon f2.8 prime lens attached!
BRILLIANT!
Thank you so much!
