    Created in 1977, The World's Strongest Man™ has become the premier event in strength athletics.     Even though his deadlift WR has allegedly been broken, he can say he's the first human in history to successfully deadlift 500kg. Nobody can say they're the first to do it.

      I think to kill the debate in competition the record still stands, I think Thors record should be recorded but classed as out of competition, for me tho Thor should have won Worlds maybe twice

    Getting that fifth stone in 2017 when he didn't need it is proof that Eddie was the strongest man that year.

      @@joebot9309 the only reason Thor did 501 is because of Eddie. Eddie is the goat of deadlift regardless of who breaks it.

      @@dmoney3491 props to him for being the first one you deadlift 500 but benny Magnusson's raw deadlift was much more impressive

      @@joebot9309 and yet he didn’t do it at a strongman event making it a unofficial world record. He could do 230kg on axle in his home gym and it still wouldn’t matter if he couldn’t do it in a official strongman event. Eddie still holds the official deadlift world record

      @@joebot9309 you can argue that's out of competition impressive feat tho, 500k competition record be beaten eventually, Makarov went really close this year, but something tells me that Pavlo Nakonechnyy will beat it
