Oof this deck gives me flashbacks of the Simic Flash deck about 4 years ago. That deck was absolutely horrendous to face and now there's an Azorius one now! Can't seem to get away from this horrible nightmare!! 😭😂 Awesome deck as usual Luca, appreciate you tons!
I have a similar deck build but I leaned in on the putting opponents cards on exile, gobokhan and annointed peacekeeper . I then added a couple of wash aways.
Nice deck. I builded a similar, but adding RED to play High Noon (for optimize the plot effect from Aven and the counterspells) and the two drop Saheeli (for copying creatures and abuse theirs ETB triggers). Very good results. 😉
Seeing you punish the mono green brewer that brutally with almost the full slot of Aven Interrupter and then not drawing it in the mono red match where it would matter while flooding to an almost ridiculous degree was peak Arena experience. Nothing against you or the deck of course (in fact, I quite like it!) but I can't stand certain things.
10:13 wow this game was so awesome and probably brutal for the opponent This exact turn was so good, the 🍒 on top would have been cracking the map token with your pain land cause virtue untaps creature lands 🥳
Great video as always! I just now realized that multiple Aven Interruptors stack up their taxes on exiled spells - makes me wonder if playing them with Three Steps Ahead to potentially copy them could be a good interaction…
I was experimenting with a combo of 'Tree of Perdition' + 'Spiteful Hexmage' / its monoblack Match win, and very sudden, used b/g sorcery 'Kin Tree invocation' and any 1m sorcery for the kill
Excelent deck. Coincidentally I'm playing a variation of it with the 2 mana Loremaster for card draw. Feels very nice to not have to discard spells like with Malcolm and instead just get a full grip. Can confirm it loses while on the draw against aggro with all cheap spells, but still good. My deck is currently something like 27-5, slowly and steadily climbing to mythic.
A slight adjustment indeed. I have 24 lands total (as I'm not running the Whales and only have 2 Virtues as top end same as you in this version) with 18 blue sources + an additional 2 blue from Mirrex if necessary. So 20 blue seems enough, haven't had an issue with casting Loremaster so far. What I've been annoyed with the most is missing land drops even with drawing two per turn. 24 lands seems to not cut it anymore even on low cmc decks with extra card draw. What is funny is that I've once managed to win agains a Boros Humans deck through a cavern of souls and a Thalia, all while being stuck on 2 lands for the first 6 turns lol. They went through half their deck and I was in full chump mode until I got to 4 mana (while they were at 10) until I eventually stabilized with a Sphinx as they were topdecking. So the deck can be extremely resilient at times. Other times I've lost to Rotpriest into Ivy into Rotpriest into 3x Aspirant's ascent and no amount of Tishana's couldn't save me haha.
To me, it would make a lot of sense to add Wash Away to this deck. There are tons of monored plotted cards to begin with, it can hit flashback Faithful Mending and Memory Deluge from combo and control, and it counters anything exiled by Interrupter / Soul Partition in all other matchups for 1 mana.
I just realized why Aven interrupter is an owl... Player A: Knock knock Player B: Who's there? Player A : Aven Interrupter Player B: Aven int- Player A: WHO
Oh man, i've been playing flash tribal for months. Dang bird is going to teach people how to play against me now huh. edit: crazy similar deck too. Can recommend lost in the maze and academy loremaster as additions. At first glance they may seem a bit clunky but they synergize really well.
@@LegenVD I can see what you mean, I did start out with a mono blue flash tribal where that wasn't an issue and it seems you're white devotion is a bit heavier than mine. Also kinda funny that you ran Soul partition too, although it is an abvious include with Aven. The fact that it messes with RDW plot is so satisfying aswell. Loved that you did this, flash decks have been surprisingly rare. Although I am upset with you since I likely won't get to be original and hip with my cool flash deck anymore.
@@shootfromtheright2712 The key phrase is: "enter the battlefield as a copy of a creature you control". So the Mimic still ETBs as a Geological Appraiser that was indeed cast, even if it wasn't named Geological Appraiser on cast.
Ah I figured it was something like that. I just thought the spell would be named Glass Pool Mimic until it entered the battlefield so I could see a judge saying the spell Geological Appraiser was not cast.
Game 8 note: "Geological Appraiser" does not give discover on enter unless its cast. So your reason for discarding the Bodygaurd was a little flawed, but still a very well palyed match.
The Flash theme is the most favorite stereotype in Magic. I am so glad you shared your own deck. Cat Warrior is also amazing with the flash theme. I wonder why you didn't include it? As a counterspell, I use disdainful stroke because it is against almost all sweepers ))).
Out of my first 10 packs of this set, I got a play set of the Aven Interupter. Thst card is a plague. Especially combined with other cards thst tax a card for being played from exile. Like the white battle Invasion of Goblkon (spelling?). Stoic Sphinx has been fun. It’s won many games for me.
I'd love to see a similar build splashing a touch of red for High Noon. I get that it's awkward with the adventures and the top deck casts from E&G, but between all your stuff being instant speed, the white exile-and-recast effects, and the fact you can sacrifice it later when it's too inconvenient, I think it could be extremely powerful here.
If it wasn’t said, at 43 in match 8 you said exiling the appraiser with bodyguard was risky, however, the appraiser only triggers If it was cast. That said, a 4/3 wasn’t really a relevant threat anyways, so discarding the bodyguard made sense.
It’s funny how in actual sanctioned play, time stalling is a punishable offense. But on arena it’s just an every game occurrence. With no report system in place.
No need to gatekeep Magic. If you prefer traditional Standard that’s great, but understand that not everyone shares your perspective. There’s no reason why this wouldn’t work in bo3, in fact it’s likely better there as there are fewer aggro decks.

You can run high noon without any red. The static is already good enough for what the deck wants to do, adding red creates clunk for no reason.
