whoa, I made this deck too, but in orzhov and with things like lively dirge. was considering going for esper, but didn't quite know how. luckily there's LVD to save your winrate with his even better deck :3
The best thing about this channel is that it's not afraid to show the game that don't go well. So many of these deck showcase videos from other channels try to present their deck as some kind of unstoppable death machine that wins games for free and it's so tiresome.
I played around with a similar list and I found that adding more life gain trigger ETB creatures really increased the consistency and allowed me to combo off much earlier. 8 ETB lifegain triggers feels much better than 6. Also had lots of success with Sun-Blessed Healer and Wail of the Forgotten as the healer can get back a Founding or a ln Archaeologist to restart the deck digging in case you stall out.
The best part about Starscape Cleric and Elas Il Kor is it says "Each opponents" rather than "target opponent" so it saves you from timing out on Arena
An unusual side effect of this type of deck is that while it doesn't usually care about removal, it cares a whole lot about Prolifetare. While unusual, it's possible to proliferate the counters on Founding while opponent lacks mana to Raise the Past, which can ruin the combo pretty hard.
I brewed something similar with Hare Apparent and all the lifegain from white, bringing back a few hare apparents with raise the past with a few Hares already on board is pandemonium lol
I swear, 80% of the time in standard i see mono black decks exactly like match 1 and match 5. Barely any variation in them too, once i see one black mana hit the field, i know their whole deck.
@@rodgoesinya9947 People like to win, and in a game that demands real money to be competitive in, there's no sense in trying to brew some kitchen table garbage that loses 90% of its games.

@@ForeverLaxx no lol I can just draft my way to complete sets because I'm not a garbage player like you who has to play the same mono black deck for five years.
I wonder if it would be possible to make Beseech the Mirror function in this deck as an extra 2 copies of raise the past so it's a bit easier to find it. Maybe with a few Novice Inspectors just so you have more to bargain with. Seems hard though.
When I saw Raise the Past, my mind immediately went to Aristocrats, but this mill version probably works better. I don't know if the Standard sac outlets are up to snuff anyway.
Side board you can slot in felidar cub as a recursive enchantment answer which is most graveyard hate, grand abolisher for raise the past counterspells and Bartolomeo for an alternative attack angle instead of graveyard.
True, although you have to be careful since this deck is almost 100% creatures, you'll likely mill ourself out nearly with just one copy. I know it's power because I've ran it in that dimir poison deck from weeks ago. 😂😂

When everybody runs either one of two decks, it’s not a very interesting meta. Sure we can play mono white exile everything to counter it, still boring and thoughtless gameplay

there is something OFFFF on the matchmaking in game.... Build a deck like this all I get is red aggro killing me in round 4 or 5??? Shits is RIGGED! WHAT am I not understanding??
Those decks are quite popular on the ladder. If you play ranked the matchmaking won't be based on your deck selection, whereas the play queue can give some weird matchups.
Duress, bloodletter, 2 slashers, and 5 pieces of removal. That first opponent is not here to make friends 😂
average mono black player
Pretty unfortunate that pretty much everyone running this. Very discouraging to even play standard against decks like it.
Someone hurt them😂
@@billsill9833 All decks are like this. I miss how the game was 2 years ago... I don't remember it being so problematic.
So hard to brew against slasher into bloodletter (turn 2 bat 99% of the time as well)

Mono-black slasher combo and still explodes as soon as there's even a hint or resistance, what a clod

Love this, orzhov version can sputter out a little fast if you dont hit the doggo for velocity in digging for the combo
Ooo I haven't played against the Esper Variant. This looks more consistent than the Orzhov one relying more on the Surveil. Scary!
The best part about Starscape Cleric and Elas Il Kor is it says "Each opponents" rather than "target opponent" so it saves you from timing out on Arena
And since it doesn't target, you can get around effects that give the opponent Hexproof. Uncommon, but useful.
Decklist link is wrong, leads me to the omniscience combo you published a couple weeks ago
Edit:fixed
can confirm wrong link
Should be fixed now!

I've been running an Abzan Raise the Past list with great success.
oooooh this is why ive been playing against this deck all day
GRAVEYARD WOOOO!!!!
Also yoir thumbnails are top notch man! Appreciate all you do! 🔥🤘
@16:21 Wonder if saving the Somnophage a couple of turns would have been better.. at least forcing them to remove their own blue Overlord.
Yeah immediately I thought "well now the board wipe doesn't hit their stuff" tragic
37:27 opponent: "wait wtf just happened to my life total"
Someone did this to me yesterday and there was I think 253 triggers on the stack after they had surveiled/raised their entire deck
Building this deck tonight. It looks so fun!

I had thought about using the white blue discard shell to raise the past hare apparent. Your deck with the extra color seems a lot more consistent 😅
The tale of taimyo is founding of the third path on steroid in this deck, oracle of tragedy is also a good card for reshuffle

Demonic quasi tutor seems better probably need one more card type though
Love this Combo! :)
I knew there had to be a way to break this card, it's so good we've all been brewing wl it 🎉
You should try a variant with hare apparent instead of star scape and sanctifier it has been working really well for me :) and its pretty funny
Every creature is hare so you dont need to run black either
Playing it just in simpliesr version. Just wb with hare attendants and few board wipes
Yep, "Raise the past" is one strong card...
Can you do this but with hare apparent?
Slimy yet satisfying.
I could see a few copies of bart for sac responses.

Bartolome could work for Raise the Past.
I think you get there in match 6, when you start the sage at lvl 2, right?
Tale of Tamiyo I find to be very good value and recurses the raise the pasts

I wish I could play this deck....I played a similar strategy with life-gain. But agro just smashed it and there's so much mono-red and boros agro :(
oh, is it called "raise the past"? you didn't mention it.
I’d love to see you optimize baylen hare apparents, it’s a degenerate list
Souls of the damned might have worked well.in the deck.
I love the snarling gorehound art stile 🤩 keep up the good work Luca!
Pet Cemetery: …
So basically a deck that loses to Authority and gy hate. Definitely 2 very underplayed cards right now
Snarling Gorehound is still a really solid card. I love it with Sidisi
Ah yes, lurrus-less lurrus
good.

If the removal is bad black can be trash.
