    My observation with Nextool (and Roxon) is that they are innovating. That is why the other market heavies are loosing market share.

    Nextools were AMAZING FOR THE PRICE, but if they are going to charge as much as the established brands with a great reputation for quality, I'll go for the quality of the established brands.

    I bought the mini flagship a few months ago and one of the handle springs broke just from being opened and closed after a week. Made me pretty skeptical of Nextool on the whole tbh. I've been much more pleased and impressed with Roxon.

      I read about this happening on this multitool about 3 or 4 years ago, when it first came out. Probably inadequate heat treatment on those components. I think however that was subsequently fixed as Nextool are visibly present in social media and respond to feedback. I bought mine 3 years ago from AliExpress and although I don't use it every day, I have used it a fair bit and it's holding up just fine. Whereas the spring on my LM Squirt scissors broke whilst not being used, a year or more ago, and I'd hardly used the scissors anyway as they were pretty poor due to excessive blade play. The problem on the Squirt scissor springs goes back over a decade and LM never took action to resolve it, instead they've just discontinued it, presumably because they were having to send so many replacements under the warranty.

      Good point. In all fairness I think multi tools are a bit like cutlery. Millions of people use chopsticks and never need a fork or a spoon. But once we get used to a tool it's hard not to have it. Likewise I could do all my work without a multi tool but it's more convenient for me to use one every day.

    According to VineClimber, the bit adapter that comes with the Black Knight fits on the Victorinox in line Phillips. If that's true, I'd buy the Black Knight just for the bit kit. Note, the Light Wrench W2 bit adapter does not fit on the Victorinox in line Phillips.

    The W2 is pretty nice for HVAC as long as the tasks aren't heavy it serves well.
    Philips with bit driver, 25mm wrench nice tool set.
    Nextool is nice going towards innovative concepts.
    I do like the Black Knight, Sailor Pro, Gemini....
    I have a nice collection of their tools.
    A thing that can be considered is sometimes it's better to have less tools but focus on what's super useful and make them sturdier.
    Have a bit and socket kit and we will have the best stuff.

    I bought my Flagship Mini 3 years ago on ali, and as it happens today it's in my pocket, as I just want a light mt to carry together with my Spyderco. Just popped open a bottle of cold beer with it too. I don't carry it every day but have used it a fair bit for jobs within it's capability i.e. light duty, however the scissors are probably better categorised as medium to heavy duty. Apart from Victorinox, they are the only mt scissors I can rely on and enjoy using. No complaints with my Flagship Mini.

    I have been carrying a Nextool flagship mini for close to 7 months now. It has been a very solid tool for its size and price. I think I paid $11-$12 for it and it would be worth $20 imo. I honestly prefer it over my LM Squirt which was closer to $50

  • @no-trick-pony

    I got 3 mini flagships by now - the steel of which the scissors are made off is just terrible and so is the quality control for the scissors - I had to send 2 of them back immediately because the scissors just wouldn't cut anything besides paper. The third one did - but only for like 2 weeks after which it also started to just jam thin plastics etc. (And I have read that exact same comment in one of your previous videos before, where you did those thin plastic tests on some tools). I would LOVE the tool if I could pay just 5-10 bucks more and get a lot better quality for it. Give it quality scissors you can sharpen, a much better file and replace the bottle cap tool with e.g. a storage for micro screw driver + tweezers and it would be absolutely fantastic (I can open a bottle with just about anything and haven't seen any can without pull tag in 15 years here). It still is what I daily drive in my third pocket though over the SOG Powerpint, various Victorinox and Leathermans I own and owned, because I still love the knive + big scissors + plier combo for the size and weight. You just don't notice it in your pocket and it provides huge value.

    I've got all the small ones you showed and I have the w1 but not the w2 yet. I've also got the Gemini but I do have a problem with it. I was playing with it and screwed a screw into soft timber until it stopped but then manual kept turning it went clunk and slipped and now slips. I'm unsure what to do I kinda think it was my fault not a issue of the tool. It did however not hold a charge and would go flat if left unused for a week. It did that from day one. I don't know if I can claim warranty or if I should open it up to look inside. Hopefully be able to repair it but it might not be fixable without replacement parts. Unfortunately it only came in a nice case with spare cutters no gearbox or whatever I've done 😢. Otherwise I've had no issues whatsoever with any nextool product. I have the axe shovel thing with the knife and saw in the handle. It's a cool tool. I also love the little knife thing like a SAK feels well made. They have a version with nail clippers. Or did. Also have you seen the discontinued green hornet that looks like it was made similar to a gerber balanc?. I wish it was still around. I was wondering the large sailor the pliers look like they have hardened cutters like the replaceable ones only on it I don't think you can. Is it likely to shatter or break or do they seem ok. I don't mind pliers with cutters you can't replace but I'm not sure about that style. Also do have trouble getting the craft knife out of the e1 tool it's nice but I struggle getting it out

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  2 месяца назад +1

      With the Gemini, I would definitely check into if it can be warratied.
      With the Sailor pro it has non replacement wire cutters. I haven't tested them extensively, not sure how tough they are.
      The replaceable blade actually seemed too easy to replace on mine, so I damaged the tool trying to make it harder to replace. It could be Nextool has changed the design recently.
      I have seen versions of the green hornet. I think there may be still some craftsman versions of the balance around still.

      @@hvacbudget8600 I'll definitely try but I'm not going to bash nextool if they don't. It might be over 12 months old now too. It's was actually way more useful than I anticipated. But it's perfect for the little screws on my boys rc cars to charge their batteries. That was what I mostly used it for. Shame I broke it. I also think roxon is in the same league. Being innovative and looking pretty and good features. They're different but similar and I believe leading the pack of all the Chinese brands. I can't say which I prefer of the two brands. Both are really good imo. I hope to see more of it in the future and keeping the budget side down without something needing to be a copy of the big brands just making good unique kinda quirky sometimes. I don't have anything to say negative about either of those brands. I'm not trying to suggest the American brands should stop. I hope it gives them a bolt to innovate themselves or they'll die. I got my first leatherman in years just a little squirt and I have more coming along with a gerber octane. I see they also have the strata available on Ali atm I'm unsure if I need it or not yet I'm trying to find a leatherman crunch for my collection

    • @mattyvlietstra5017
      @mattyvlietstra5017 2 месяца назад +1

      @@hvacbudget8600 I'd love to get one because I really like the balance except the odd sized bits. If I can make an adapter it would be perfect. But it's pretty great how it was for something light and comfortable to have in pocket. And all I ever seem to need is blade, pliers and scissors. Oh and screw drivers mostly just a no. 2 Phillips is good enough for most jobs but it's good to have the ability to get torx etc. I also don't like the combo serrated straight knife blade that doesn't lock but still feels fairly decent and doesn't feel likely to slip back unless being clumsy. The scissors on my balance seem to cut anything and the mini sailor scissors on the pliers version are very similar and also perform really well. Theyre a bit tougher than the little ones on the SAK looking knife. I find it helps to sort of push it sideways a bit as you cut sorta down and across. But I find the scissors on the mini sailor to be really good. The mini flagship and the scissors version of the mini sailor are also good but I actually prefer to have pliers and scissors than the other way around with the tiny pliers on the mini sailor scissors based tool.
