I have a 2006 Deluxe, did the cam chest upgrade with the Screamin' Eagle cam plate kit and cam installation kit with the upgraded bearings at 30,000 miles. Original spring tensioners were not bad at all, but I know that isn't always the case and have known other twin cams to crater at 15,000 due to tensioner failures. Bike runs great and they aren't kidding about the scavenging side of the pump increasing flow by 50% - I looked inside the oil tank when the bike was running and oil was flowing back like a fire hose! Very happy with the upgrade, complemented the 95" big bore kit and SE 204 cams nicely, bike runs strong and sounds fantastic with those cams at warm idle, too.
I have a 2005 Deluxe with only 13k miles on it. I ordered the SE Cam plate with hydraulic tensioners, Cam chains, cam gears, SE high-performance oil pump, new bearings, and SE 204 cams..new stock lifters, I can't wait to feel and hear the difference. I decided to stay with the stock push rods because I wanted the solid push rods and didn't want the push rods to somehow come out of adjustment. What do you think about this setup? Thanks from the DAWG in the Show Me State..
Sounds great! I think the SE kit is pretty good, can’t go wrong with it. I also stayed with my stock push rods. The idea of cutting them just doesn’t sit with me. Good luck with your project! Let me know how it turns out
I have a twin cam 88 and these are the reasons why Harley has no right to call themselves a premium motorcycle. Charging the premium price without providing the premium parts does not make you a premium motorcycle. Yes I have corrected all these issues as well as issues with the chassis. But now that I know how Harley runs their shop I would never buy a new one. I'm even hesitant to buy a used one again unless it's an EVO Sportster.
...I used to own a 1986 Sportster, first year of the EVO motor....AND YES...BULLETPROOF BASICALLY !!!! Loved the 1200 Kit I put in too....LMAO 🤣.....Miss that Ol Sporty....but wanted Bigger Ride !!! LOVE DYNA'S and Softails!!!

Great to hear it all worked out for you! These upgrades are a must.
I had the timken bearing and both bearings went was two rebuilds replaced everything because of the damage but runs good now
I appreciate the videos, thank you.

Can’t upgrade any of that stuff without checking crank run off.
The S&S is also a 3 stage pump. Put a 509 cam chest kit in my '02 FXD
Yeah, S&S, Feuling and Screaming Eagle, they are all good pumps/kits.
