    Some really nice plants you have. I heard you mention Wells Springs Garden and was wondering if you were happy with all the plants you received from them. I tend to order on line, just one plant to begin with to see if their product is well packed and in good condition. I ordered an elephant ear from Wells Springs Garden and waiting to be delivered.

    Quick question! My elephant ear is about 3 feet tall its in a large pot, about 2 feet deep, it has two or three leaves at a time but is really too tall to stand up. It is starting to fall over :/
    I had it propped against a window but i think the light from the window was too intense so i moved it away but now its drooping hard without support... Any tips would be so helpful! Thank you!

    • @TheThriftedPlanter
      @TheThriftedPlanter  Год назад

      I'm sorry your plant is struggling. Off of the top of my head I'm thinking it could be a lighting issue. If it's not getting enough light it can grow leggy. When the stems get leggy they get weaker and it's harder for them to hold up their foliage. Maybe putting it back to higher light and rotate the plant every week or two so it gets even exposure. Just know that when a plant gets leggy it's not easy to correct and you may have to provide continuous support for the droopy stems. The new foliage that is "born" in higher light should be fine. Good Luck!

    • @TheThriftedPlanter
      @TheThriftedPlanter  Год назад +1

      Hi there! Thank you! I don't cut them back when kept indoors. I know that they can tend to go dormant during the winter and at that point they may die back to the soil on their own then wake again in spring. Mine have all stayed awake so I'm not sure if you have to cut them

    what soil did you use to grow your elephant ears that bug? My neighbor has ears that are twice the size of yours and she got a bigger pot and she only used Miracle-gro moisture control. I am starting to see a difference but how can get mine that massive?

    • @TheThriftedPlanter
      @TheThriftedPlanter  Год назад +1

      Hi there! I got mine in promix soil mixed with compost. Fertilizing weekly or every other week, keeping it watered will help yours grow bigger.

    Can one grow Calocasia in the house? I have a sleeping porch turned living room with mostly east facing windows (also 2 windows facing north, 1 facing south). I would LOVE to fill it with plants, including some larger ones. Any special tips I need to pay attention to if grown inside?
    Edit: living in Deep East Texas, zone 8b, I think.

    • @TheThriftedPlanter

    Hi my grandma passed and no one’s been caring for her plants she has one of these but some of the leaves are dead is it any way possible to save it please 😩💕

    • @TheThriftedPlanter
      @TheThriftedPlanter  Год назад +1

      I’m so sorry for your loss. I miss my grandma so much and have some of her plants💚. If all the leaves are dead I would cut the plant down close to the soil line. If it’s been recently watered I’d let the soil dry half way down before watering again. Because it doesn’t have any leaves it won’t be able to photosynthesize or make energy for its self. So water sparingly and keep an eye out for new growth. If it looks like it’s rotting it might be too late.
