  • Please before giving a thumbs down, most of these movies are in terrible condition, so don't expect miracles! I use a lot of electricity to enhance them as best as I can. I hope you enjoy what I do. Thank you for watching, you are appreciated greatly!
    You can view the enhanced black and white version here • The Red House (1947) |...
    If you have any requests, please comment and I will do my best for you. As long as the requested movies are in the public domain, I can convert to colour and upload here for you to enjoy.
    Directed by Delmer Daves in 1947 and starring Edward G. Robinson, Lon McCallister, and Judith Anderson, "The Red House" unfolds a chilling tale of secrecy. An elderly man and his sister harbor a haunting secret about an abandoned farmhouse hidden in the deep woods, concealed from their adopted teenage daughter. As curiosity and suspense mount, the mystery surrounding the red house intensifies, leading to shocking revelations that unravel the family's dark history. The film masterfully blends psychological tension with atmospheric cinematography, offering a gripping narrative that explores the consequences of buried secrets and the shadows that lurk within familial bonds.
    This movie took 14 hours to convert to colour at 4K resolution. I hope you enjoy the end result!

      Wow! Thank you so much for such a wonderful comment! It is people like you that make this project so worthwhile. I am, however, still learning and realised that I need to upgrade my equipment. I was worried it wouldn't be worth it, however, the last week, I have received some amazing comments, just like yours.
      I have gone ahead and maxed my credit card and now waiting for an RTX4090 graphics card that should arrive by Friday and when it does, these movies should increase in quality. It will also allow me to enhance them much faster, hopefully half the time with four times the quality.
      I just hope the project continues to grow, monetisation one day may pay off the investment I have made, that is dream right now, but the lovely comments make it totally worthwhile, thank you.

    I saw this movie years ago and I loved it. Coming from the production-house of Delmer Daves who gave us top films like Parrish and Susan Slade in later years, this movie too had to be good. It has an element of suspense that runs through from start to finish. Totally gripping! That's Lon MacAlister who was a 40's version of hero back in those years. He did enjoy his place in the sun for a short while. Then there's the lovely young and fresh Julie London, looking like a peach, and, lastly, that rascal Rory Calhoun who always had ulterior motives where dames and money dealings were concerned. Remember what he did to poor Monroe in "River of no return:? The movie is as good as new and, if it has been colorized, this also gets the thumbs up from all viewers for a brilliant job executed.

Sometimes, the enhancing and colourisation doesn't work out as well as I'd like, but I try hard, the trashcan on my PC gets full a lot with discarded attempts, try again, and again until I know it's the best I can do. Sometimes, I do have to give up, 18 hours of enhancing can be 18 hours wasted, when they do turn out and I get a nice comment, it is a great feeling, thank you!

You are preserving an era of immense cinematic effort for posterity by making these works accessible for the next generation. Respect and cheers from Canada! P.S. Young Julie London (Tibby) already showed great magnetism at this early stage in her life. Men were always drawn to her throughout her illustrious career in song, film and television. When school was finished for the day, it was finished and children could go back to being children, and being family members with a few chores to do. Wish it was still like that. Thank you for adding it to your playlist and I hope you enjoy it. The enhancing I do uses a graphics card and software. 14 hours adds new frames using AI, removes some of the lines, cleans it up, converts it from SD to 4K and colourises the movie. It's a long process, I really need a new graphics card. The latest movies haven't been good enough in my eyes so I had to delete them. I have had 98% good comments from many people, the project is going amazingly well, far better than I ever thought! With that, I have gone ahead and invested into a new higher end graphics card which should arrive this week. This will allow me to convert movies at not only higher quality but much faster, allowing me to add lots more. If you have any requests, please let me know and I will do my best for you. Thank you.

The playlist for the colorised movies is here: ruclips.net/video/CS47ZG0VNUM/видео.html and black and white here: ruclips.net/video/HSSPeeStRfg/видео.html I will continue to add new movies to each playlist over time. :)

    I wrote about this movie in a column for our paper ( and no, I'm not a movie critic) about ten years ago and my reason? It scared me as it dredged up childhood memories at age nine. My parents bought our first house on a street full of people and kids-- at the end of the street was a cul de sac and then woods. I played in the woods with friends-- we even had a so-called camp. We were all over those woods or so we thought. One afternoon after school, we were in the woods when an old man and woman came walking out with baskets of eggs. They stared at us but didn't speak. I'd never seen them before nor had my friends but watched them go down the hill. Odd but they were never seen coming back that way. In my imagination, I pictured them living in an old house deep in the woods. Fast forward, when I saw this movie in my twenties it was as if I just knew somehow that the couple lived in a similar house. Red? I never knew. Sometimes what scares you when you're young is right, while other times, it's coming to the wrong conclusion. In my case, it was mixed feelings, but I won't forget them ever. Edward G. Robinson was a fabulous actor in this movie as well as his others. It's intense at times to say the least! Thanks for restoring this classic movie!❤

      @SimonWard1  23 дня назад

      Thank you so much for your comment, very interesting. When I was a child, I somehow was put through Salem's Lot, it scared the life out of me and I still have flashbacks of the devil scene! They don't make horror movies like they did in the past. The Red House is by far the most popular film I have enhanced and it is easy to understand why, a classic film, one of the best!

    • @SherryHill-k5y
      @SherryHill-k5y 23 дня назад

      @@SimonWard1 You're most welcome and I'm honored by your comment. Salem's Lot was terrifying to me as well. Oddly enough I watched ( again,) The Red House that you enhanced: It made it so more watchable than in black and white. And I'm grateful to and for you. Events when we're kids either affect us or not. The Red House brought back my scary memory and still does. My favorite.movie genre is mystery but not ones that involve mega supernatural. Again, thanks.

    🕊️ HELLO,
    OMG!
    I LOVED THIS MOVIE ... I HAD STARTED TO WATCH IT A FEW WEEKS AGO, BUT FELL ASLEEP ... TODAY, I SAW IT COMPLETELY.
    NATE WAS SO PRECIOUS WITH HIS MOTHER, ENCOURAGING HER TO GET MARRIED AND SHE DID.
    SORRY, THAT ELLEN DIED ... SHE GAVE UP HER LIFE FOR HER BROTHER CREEPY PETE ... HE WAS A WEIRDO.
    AS FOR TELLER & TIPPY, THEY DESERVED EACH OTHER.
    GLAD THAT MEG & NATE HAD A HAPPY ENDING ... I JUST WISHED, THEY SHOWED MORE OF THEIR LIFE TOGETHER.
    BTW @ 1:01, IT SOUNDED AS CREEPY PETE SAID "OUR LEGS LEG IS BROKEN"
    THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS GREAT MOVIE ... UNLIKE, THE TRASH OUT THESE DAYS, NO MORE WHOLESOME MOVIES AS THIS.
