Thank you!!! Ten videos later, someone FINALLY shows how to actually hook. Lots of talking everywhere else, but no teaching!! Thank you!!
@@nancyleedunn I totally agree with you. Way too much talking. She is very thorough and easy to understand.
I used to hook rugs 36 years ago! Before my 5 children were born. My grandmother hooked for many years, making huge rugs that took her 500 hours. I have some of those rugs. My goodness how much I had forgotten as I saw your little video. thanks for reminding me how easy and fast it goes! I will have to get that rug out and finish the background! You've inspired me! Thanks.
THE PATTERN ON THE RUG IS MOVING!! o.0
I never knew how to do this. I'm so glad I found your video. As a kid I did hook rug kits. I hated them they too so long and I was limited to what design. I know you've made this look way easier than it is. But you've shown me that it is doable. I'm going to add this to my bucket list. Which if I don't soon get off RUclips will be a very long list. There are so many talented people showing so many different talents that I want to try them all. Thank you for sharing. :)
Wonderful!!! Thank you!!!! I will try it!!! regards Patricia from Argentina
love it, started several years ago, but haven't done any in 2 years. this was a very helpful and encouraging refresher. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Todos bonitos
Had to comment on an old video.. noticed comments are turned off on more recent videos... but Over the last year, have taken up rug hooking. My mother wanted me to try. And I did some pieces up quite quickly., so quickly, even I was surprised. My mother began showing everyone possible and posting my work on FB groups., I am amazed at the reviews that I am receiving. I have received a lot of kind comments and praise for my few available pieces of work. And I have even sold one. I would love to learn more. And I found you. Hoping you can help me to expand my knowledge and skills in creating these wonderful artworks. I am really enjoying creating. Love your work. Beautiful creations. 💗🙏🏻
Keep making. And congrats on selling one!
💗💐 Thank you 🙏🏻 I have several more in the works as we speak. I would have finished another tonight but I sadly ran out of the white I was using. Maybe tomorrow. I still have so much to learn., but all of your wonderful work now serves as beautiful inspirations for me. I have learned so much just from reviewing some of your work. Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful art and techniques, with all of us. I know I really love all of your pieces, each unique and brilliant. 🙏🏻 Keep creating. 💗Much love.

I have love this mats ~ and have been wanting to make them for years.
This video is so professional and easy to understand.
Thank you ever so much ~ from Aotearoa / Newzealand.
Finally!!!!! Someone who can explain real easy!!!!! I greatly appreciate your videos. Where did you get the wool strip cutter. God bless
The wool strip cutter is a Bolivar cutter, which are hard to find now as the company no longer exists. We often recommend people check out Honeydoo cutters nowadays. Thanks for watching!
@@DeanneFitzpatrickStudio great news I found a rigby with 3 different size blades in mint condition. It only cuts one strand at a time but it’s better than nothing.
what kind of hook are you using? and would a burlap bag work as your canvas? my mom used to do something like this when i was a small child, but i can't remember how she did it, does it have to be wool or would any material work? sorry for all the questions but i am really interested, and do u have this in a frame? thanks so much, love the video
My grandma used to do this! The local newspaper did an article about it. Joked that she was a "hooker" and a "stripper" and married to a church elder lol. She made some beautiful things.
great madam.thank you.nc

Wonderful, please trust me where to get tape cutters
Wonderful work
Thanks for the video.. very easy to follow along.
lovely!!!!
Lindo trabalho. Conheço a agulha mágica que faz um trabalho semelhante. Acredito que para segurar os pontos deve passar resina
wow! very nice!
Yes you can use Monks cloth
Salve è una tecnica che mi piacerebbe tanto imparare ma in Italia non si è ancora diffusa e non saprei dove poter reperire il taglialana o comunque le strisce
wow that looks like fun! i want to try that some day. thank you for sharing1
@@DeanneFitzpatrickStudio Здравствуйте! Где можно заказать такую иглу
Спасибо
I will surely try it
Where do you get the fabric cutter from please?
osea que cosa tan más hermosa! wowwww
Absolutely GORGEOUS rug!! My grandmother had a cutter just like that. She made beautiful rugs but not latch hook. I'm not sure what you would call that technique, because when I search I always get latch hook. Can you tell me? What brand is the cutter? The ones I found, shockingly expensive considering they're hand crank not motorized, only cut two or three strips, but yours does six(?).
Hooks are included in our kits.
Isn't there a chance that the loops come undone since they are not secure? I'm a fussy person and I would want to secure all the loops otherwise I would feel the thing might come apart.
por qué no sube más videos, me encanta la forma enque enseña.Me ha inspirado
Hello:D Where can I find a cloth cutting machine exactly like the one you are using in this video? How much? Thanks so much, Deanne:D
Amazing
Thanks
vert nice
This vid was so helpful......thank you. What is the model of the Bolivar cutter you have?
I have the one that turns with three sizes.
Merci beaucoup🌷🌷🌷
You are welcome.
Wouldn't a latched hook work better? And reduce the need for starting holes too.
@kristena710 Yes, you can use yarn, that's what most of the kits use when you buy a commercially made kit. You could also use scrap material like cut up t-shirts or jeans. Make the craft your own. :)
Great idea. I make Amish rag rugs so I'd love to try this with fabric. Thanks 😊
Simplesmente encantador!!!!!
thank you very much for the tutorial. It is a wonderful job. Will you please tell us what we will do when we have finished the rug on the back side? How can you hold the stitches and make sure they will not be ruined? thank you again
check out our blog, there is lots of info on our website, www.hookingrugs.com
Martha Giotoula ) xtra.
I don't understand what holds the fabric strips in. If something snags a loop, wouldn't it throw off several loops? How would this be fixed? It seems like you'd need to put a stitch on the underside. O.o
It stays. You do not need a and closes. on underside. The backing kind of open
Where can I purchase the strip cutter machine you use on your video? What is the brand? I love your work and you make it look so easy.
Thanks for the tips your so fast! I'd like to bigger projects if there were more kits to get.
what is the name of the tool thatyou use to cut the material and where can it be found?
so lovely thanks
😍
Hello it is called the unit where you cut the cloth into strips?
It is the standard Bolivar.
no hablo ni se ingles pero podria decirme que material ocupa para hacer esa hermosura, gracias
Maginifico, esplêndido, belíssimo, maravilhoso.
How do you ”fix” the backside so it wont slide around?
If you mean slide around on the floor as a rug, there are carpet gripper underlays you can put underneath.
What is the fabric cuter called that looks like a pasta maker?
It is a Bolivar wool cutter
soy de peru y me gusta mucho lo que haces espero o quisiera tener esa maquina y esa aguja gracias chau
Are you using yute like base? thanks.... greetings from Mexico.
I like to move about too!
what is the machine that you cut your wool with?
It is a wool cutter for rug hooking
these are cool, but cna't find the hook right now any where i wonderder would a hook form a loombe ok very talented.
I just ordered one of your kits, Summer Blooms. Do I need to order the hook, if so what brand/style do you recommend?
I just started rug hooking and I was wondering do you hold the yarn strips under the burlap and pull them up and through?
Yes you do.
What I don't understand, is Why don't the loops just come undone. I mean after use and sometimes walking on, or laying on; rugs, pillows. It just looks like you could snag one loop, and poof, just like the dog food bag. I don't get how it stays.
I am a rug hooker and the loops do come undone sometimes, especially with pets around.
I made a hook rug like this in high school and when I was done making it, I purchased from a rug company, a can of liquid rubber that I painted on the back of the rug to keep it in place. I don't know if this lady does that, but I did this on my rug and I slept on it and used it as a rug on the floor. No problems.
Están maravillosos los trabajos de los vídeos pero estoy muy triste porque no entiendo el idioma y por lo tanto no puedo seguirlos, gracias .
Love this channle
Im latchhooking and was looking at a variety of videos on how to close my rug when I came across this. It's is incredibly frustrating to think that you could grab the end of a piece of wool and pull, and all of your work comes undone. Am I missing something or is that possible? Does the strength and tightness of the fabric keep that from happening? Do you glue the back?
It is possible but the weave of the fabric opening and closing around the loop means that you would have to deliberately pull it. I do not glue the back and the cloth or yarn stays in place.
@@DeanneFitzpatrickStudio thank you. I'm still a bit confused though. How much force do you mean when you say "deliberately pull it"? And IF that happened, is there a way to repair it?
You could easily hook it through again. You just hook it like on the video, not forceful, just gently. We have a free five video course at www.hookingrugs.com that will answer your questions. It is very helpful.
Дина здравствуйте! Подскажите пожалуйста где можно купить машинку для резки ткани!!!
Hello Deanne, I am a beginner in rug hooking and I have a problem. It often happens when I set a new loop, the previous loop becomes smaller again. What am I doing wrong? Greetings Susi
Pinch your wool underneath to hold it. Keep practicing and you will get the tension.
@@DeanneFitzpatrickStudio Thank you very much for your quick reply! I'll try it that way, many greetings from Germany, Susi!!🍁🌻🍁
I have an old wool coat that I want to use for my wool strips. There is no label on the coat to tell that it is 100% wool. Is there a way to test the coat to see if it is real wool? It's hard to tell the difference. BTW your video is great!
Cut a small strip and do a burn test! If the fabric is wool, it should burn to ash. If it is acrylic, it will melt.
Where to get that Vittinge mashine? 🤩
It is called a wool cutter for rug hooking. You can google that. There are many places.
same question: where do i find this small cutting machine to cut the cloth?

Anna Ziegler google bolivar

Where did u get the machine to cut fabric. I can’t find it under bolivar.
Anna Nas /
Can I use any fabric or does it have to be wool?
What keeps the wool from pulling out?
the backing opens as you hook and closes around the loop naturally.
Bellissima 😇😇😇👍👍👍
Can this type of rug be vacuum
it's called "TEKELDUZ" it's made in Azerbaijan, and most of all in Sheki
me gustaria poder escucharlo o escrito en español por favor me encanta tu trabajo gracias ,
the base is burlap
how do you stop the loops from unravelling? Are there no knots or stitching that needs to be done? What if someone came along and tugged on one of the loops?
Hello Joselyn, The wool is "anchored" by bringing both "tails" to the top, no knotting no stitching. I often use the example of a cat if it likes to use it's claws on a rug it will get pulled out, as well if someone pulled a tail it will come out. However when you finish your rug you clip all the tails down to the height of the loop beside it so the ends are not really visible enough to see to pull, but they do stay, they do not "unravel".
Enjoy.
I guess I must be using material that has too wide of a mesh- mine come apart with almost no effort
I know how to hook but I don't know how to get the burlap onto a frame. where are there instructions on how to do that?
Linda Daley just put the backing in a hoop or affix it to a frame with thumb tacks.
Hi nice working and good tute you did already
My question is can i use some chiffon's left overs instead of wool yarns

You can use anything!
