Mine just arrived. Sadly I'm somewhat disappointed but that's my own fault for not paying enough attention to sizing details and getting caught up in the dial Macro shots when ordering.
The watch itself is already on the small size and add the fact that the Cases 'Bezel Area' is pretty big it means that the actual dial itself isn't just small but very small.
Plus the case is 13mm high, which for such a small watch gives the case a 'Short & Stubby' look.
Whilst the hands are beautiful, I got the same one's as in this video, they're so ridiculously thin that they make the dial practically illegible with a quick look as he noted in this video.
So the case is short & stubby, the hands are so thin and small that reading the time is difficult, and the Meteorite Dial is so small that from more than an arm's length you'd be hard pressed to say what type of material & pattern the dial resulting in it lacking presence.
Mine came with a Steel Bracelet like in this video which I think makes the Dial even more inconspicuous. So I'm going to give it a go on a leather strap, maybe a Blue, Black Dark Brown with a Croc Pattern. Maybe even an Orange or Green strap for something eye-catching.
All that said, a SS 316L Case & Bracelet, Sapphire Crystal with 5 layers of AR, Meteorite Dial along with Blued Hands and a Moonphase complication, Transparent Caseback with Custom Rotor attached to a Miyota 9000 Series movement for $349 USD is such a good deal that even with all my complaints I don't feel like I've suffered a loss here and hopefully using a Leather Strap will help alleviate a number of my issues.

sounds similar to many of my thoughts discussed in the video. hard to argue with both your pros and cons.

    Interesting review
I also invested in this project
I went for the lume hand version which after watching this, was the better choice .
I’m in the uk and still waiting.
My wife is convinced it’s a huge scam, so watching this does bring a bit of confidence and that it is totally real.
In an overall answer to purchasing this watch, would you say it’s only really worth the kickstarter price? If purchasing at rrp, would you be disappointed?
The only thing that bothers me the more I look at this, is that I would prefer a 22 mm strap as a pose to a 20mm
I think a 20mm strap is a little too small for my wrist.
But other than that, I’m looking forward to getting it
There are a lot worse watches out there for the same price

Should be within the next several weeks. They sent an update today that said they are getting about 80-100 per week to ship out. But it is real and I'm certain you'll get your watch. In my opinion, it was totally worth the Kickstarter price, and probably also worth the slightly higher pre-order price. Personally, I don't know if I'd do full retail on the specific model I got at $799, unless I just REALLY had to have a meteorite watch and wasn't looking to break the bank. But at for ~$350, yeah very happy about it. Also, the strap width is more tied to the diameter being 40mm, but I'm ok with 20 or 22.

I thought rotor noise was associated more with the 8000-series Miyotas, so that's interesting. Regarding screw links, I feel I need to use a mild formulation of Loctite with those, and that's why I prefer friction pins. This particular watch isn't for me, but thanks for showing it.

That rotor is exquisite. Whilst far from perfect I am so tempted. Damn you Brian. I was trying not to buy any for a while. Haha

It's worth considering, but you don't HAVE to get one ;) I'd say take some time and think about it. At least for a couple days (keeping in mind the preorder time)

More watches need to use the Moonphase or similiar types of complications. Yes its mainly a visually appealing complication but far better than the standard 24 hour dial used on pretty much every 3 resigter chronograph on the Market. I personally want to see more moonphase and 1/10 sec counter sub-dials used in Watches..
On the Meteorite... I like Meterorite Dials "Real Meterorite" but of course the cost can sky rocket.... an Example.. Holzker has their most expensive collention of 4 Watches (Chronographs) using real Meteorite.... and its just the bottom center sub-dial that has the actual meteorite.. The cost of each Watch is $499

thanks for watching. I usually like a moonphase better than 24 hour also, but then it’s a cost thing. I actually really like the way they did the 24-hr on this, probably my favorite thing about the watch. I did end up selling it along though. Have a different metorite on the way.

Not a swiss movement not interested

Well that's certainly one perspective, albeit very restrictive, especially since good movements are also developed in other countries. I'm not saying this movement is good or bad, I'm just saying your self-imposed limitation of Swiss only is narrow-minded and doesn't guarantee anything. I recommend using movement design and specification as the basis of judgment as opposed to the country of origin.

@@WatchComplications thank you for you respectful reply and yes I have interest in other countries move I unfortunately kept my commitment too short American, German, French and others I enjoy and they are mid and upper horology for a basic movement I would have liked at least a swiss basic movement just my preference

    • @WatchComplications
      @WatchComplications  2 года назад +2

Understandable. I was going to say there are plenty of good movements out of Germany, France, Japan sometimes, etc...just a one country restriction would be limiting for anyone with any sort of product. At the end of the day a good balance of quality and price is what people look for, usually. I do wonder what sort of support the campaign would have gotten for a swiss-based movement at higher cost. One issue with microland customers is that they've gotten used to low-cost, which leads to low margins for makers and over-use of certain movements. Brand owners could go for higher cost movements, but I'm not sure they'd get as much traction. It's more about audience than anything. Going higher-end means skipping Kickstarter and going another route, if you know what I mean.

All my movement problems have been Swiss!!!! Eta 2824, Sellita SW200, SW330-1, Valjoux 7750, all problems of various kinds. Miyota movements have gave me nothing but joy. At this point I'll take a 9015 over an SW200 any day.
