Thanks for the nice review! I ordered one with the other handset, but also the natural meteorite variant and it should arrive in January, I am very much looking forward to it. Interesting that for the bracelet they went for 1 1/2 links instead of 1/2 links, this is the first time I have seen something like this.
Thanks for watching! I think you'll love it! I was very torn on which handset to get as both look awesome. I'm guessing it was a limitation of making the existing links shorter (as they're already fairly small). Cheers
The Selten is certainly thicker than the Nova (though most are), but I don't consider it to be overly so. The somewhat slab side makes it seem a bit thicker than it is or wears IMO. The Selten price point is a good bit lower and it's a solid watch. However, the Nova uses a more premium hand wound movement and is extremely thin. They're fairly different watches overall, beyond meteorite dials and somewhat dress sporty styles. Based on the original Nova and dial previews, I'm sure it's going to be sweet. You really can't go wrong with either option though, depending on preference (automatic vs hand wound, day/night vs small seconds, etc.), budget, etc.
This is very interesting. I thought the dial looked really impressive and intriguing thanks to the day-night indicator and the floating indices, but the case just seemed a little flat ans chunky to me. Definitely and unfortunately too thick. Then you brought out the comps, and I'm not a particular Zelos clan (though these are among the best in my opinion), and I immediately felt the Selten paled in comparison. I guess it's a little cheaper, but ultimately I feel the comparison revealed that the intrigue with this model was about as deep as the novelty value for me. Instead, I feel I should look at some more material on these Zelos models (even if they'll be sold out). The DRZ04 has always been convincing, too. It's not often done in watch reviews, but these comparisons can be revealing and telling for the viewer.
Glad I could help in your decision 🥂 I haven't found the Selten to be thick on wrist for my taste but everyone differs. I'm also a big fan of the Zelos Nova and Direnzo DRZ04 Mondial (I have videos on each). I actually picked one of each as my favorite watch (I couldn't choose one) in a Constellar interview a while back. Cheers
Such cool details, especially at this price point. This and the C. Ward C60 Sapphire are among the few new designs that have excited me. Rolex and Omega are so stagnant these days, even with ever increasing prices.
It is an amazing watch for the money. It's coincidentally on my wrist as I type and the family has been admiring it at some Christmas festivities. Cheers
Agreed, similar to the Nova I show. I almost suggested that as well but don't love the mixed application of lume. I'd prefer either all BGW9 with blued hardware or Black C3 with polished hardware. Cheers
I believe all of the versions were available with/without lume, depending on the chosen handset. The Series 00.13 was the Aventurine with lance hands and lume but it doesn't look like it's available.
@andrebunting7603 Always the way it seems to go 😣 I think you'll dig it in any configuration though. I went back and forth on the hands. I like the look of the other set, but also wanted the lume.
@JonathanTReviews I'm leaning towards the meteorite with the lume but man their Aventurine is NICE. I have a Zelos Aventurine already tho so I might stick with the other. IDK 🤣
@andrebunting7603 Never easy 😁 I decided on the meteorite as I'm a sucker for natural meteorite and loved the complement with the day/night slices. I love aventurine too though, so I get the dilemma, I just thought the meteorite stood out more compared to other watches.
At the lugs? On a 40mm case, 20mm bracelets are pretty standard in my experience. It's been a while but I do think it has a larger taper down to 16mm at the clasp, if I recall correctly.
@@bmunson4920 Nice pick up. I have one as well. Very few watches using that movement though (Zelos was the first) and most others in that price range will have ~40hr reserves.

The selten is thick. I’m debating between the 2 Zelos nova meteorite and this selten. which one would you pick if you had to chose one?

@@JonathanTReviews good insight thanks!
My collection is large enough at this point that I’m often times looking for something different… I’ll be ordering this tomorrow…
I can relate. I think you'll enjoy this one! Cheers

It must be the slab sides but it looks thicker than 12mm. Overall not a bad looking watch.
Like you said, just a visual characteristic. It doesn't wear thicker IMO. Cheers

This was a very thorough and well-done review. Thank you.
Happy to help! Thanks for watching 🥂
Love the review!
Thank you so much! Cheers
Honestly, coulda kept the lume and blued the hands and that would resolve all the legibility questions.
Agreed, similar to the Nova I show. I almost suggested that as well but don't love the mixed application of lume. I'd prefer either all BGW9 with blued hardware or Black C3 with polished hardware. Cheers
The aventurine dial version not having lume hurts. The price is much higher now as well.

@JonathanTReviews ooohhhh. Of course, just my luck. I would discover it a year later 🤣. I'm still getting one just need to decide on the dial

What's the weight of this watch?
It should be in the details section towards the beginning of the video, right before showing the other colors. I don't have my notes handy.
@@JonathanTReviews Got it. Sorry I missed that part.
No worries at all, it's easy to have happen 😊 Glad you found it and I hope it helped 🥂
@@JonathanTReviews thank you very much for replying even though this is an old video already.
Looking forward to more of your reviews!
What’s with the imbalance on the link width on the bracelet…it looks decidedly weird.

@@JonathanTReviews the imbalance is at the clasp
Gotcha. Yeah, not everyone is crazy about a 4mm taper. Others do it too, RZE as an example, but it doesn't bother me personally.
20mm should be universal
It's generally my preferred size as well!
You lost me @ 40 HR power reserve….
That's pretty typical for entry and mid-level movements (Seiko NH, Miyota 8 and 9 series, Sellita SW200, etc.).
@@JonathanTReviews I just bought a zelos spearfish with a 68-70 hr. power reserve…Lê joue perret movement…
@@bmunson4920 Nice pick up. I have one as well. Very few watches using that movement though (Zelos was the first) and most others in that price range will have ~40hr reserves.
