    Bulova needs to make an SR-71 themed watch. They made the clocks for the cockpit and the analog clock recorders for the cameras. All made by Bulova.

    What almost nobody knows: when the Bulova backup watch gave up later within the same mission, Dave Scott brought out his second backup watch: a MVMT Blacktop Astro Blue.

    They easily could make one smaller. They also make the CURV watch range which is super cool, but they only make the ladies versions in 40mm. Those have an amazing curved case profile, the actual movement is on display and curved as well, very thin, looks amazing. But of course the mens versions are like 44-45mm... Same movement in the ladies version, so technically they can fit these high frequency quartz movements into 40mm watches, they can actually make them thin as well, they just opt not too for whatever their reason is. Which is a shame, cause I'd definitely buy one of these in 39-41mm and under 13mm thickness.

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  7 месяцев назад +1

      I would guess it's because the watch it's based off of was 43.5mm

    Instead of a metal bracelet, look into the CTS rubber strap from Delugs. The “clasp” matches the polished parts of the case and pushers, and the rubber is more stable, making the watch feel even lighter and smaller. The look is fantastic. I tried a couple straps to replace the unacceptable one it came with and the moment I attached the rubber one I knew it was just right.

    Thanks for this nice review, Bruce👍! This watch is awesome, but a bit too pricy in comparison to the standard versions. The titanium 50th anniversary edition has cost under USD 1k, if I remember correctly. By the way the battery life of the 262 kHz movement is unfortunately only about 2 years. Kind regards, Frank

    I have the original reissue that came out in 2016. I wore it a fair amount and always liked it before getting my speedy pro but now it mostly sits in my closet. The factory straps suck and need to be replaced with something more comfortable. The 45mm case is drilled differently so a bracelet isn’t an option for me. I think I would get the meteorite dial if I didn’t already have a lunar pilot but I don’t love it enough to add another one.

    The titanium case coupled with the meteorite dial ages the watch design considerably. I felt like I was wearing something an archeologist dug up. I hope I won't regret it, because I returned it and got the blue panda version.

    Bruce, thanks for another cool vid. Understanding your angst about not having a titanium bracelet, don't forget what you said about being an authentic tool watch to the original. Well, Astronaut Scott didn't wear a titanium or SS bracelet, he probably had some oversized NATO strap.
    Lastly, and so you're aware, your BRUCE code did not work on the Mimo's Jewelry sight.

    Don’t get me wrong, I like this watch, but I’m not sure you can call it the same size as the original. Maybe in the overall dimension, but the dial diameter is still the same as the first 45 mm reissue. Unless I’m mistaken, only the case has been shrunked. When you look at the picture of the original watch, I think the proportions are better rendered on the 45 mm version. You can see the case protruding at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions, which is completely absent on the 43 mm reissue. This leads to the impression that the dial diameter on the original watch is smaller than any of those reissues. I wish someone could make proper measurements on the original watch and for Bulova to manufacture a true 1:1 reissue in size, design, and let’s be crazy, in the mechanical aspect too.

    • @4AllUSa
      @4AllUSa 6 месяцев назад

      It's the same as a tachometer. I didn't notice the difference right away because all the previous ones had the same style. The current version is much cleaner, and the tachometer is not as noticeable. It's not that busy. Overall, the project to be a significant upgrade compared to previous versions, and it looks much more luxurious.

    I was gonna cave and get this version but chose another watch at this price range l. Couldn’t justify $1400 for a quartz and it’s a bit big for my 6.25 in wrist. I gotta admit it’s gorgeous tho.
