    Its crazy to me that Giannis is getting short change because he has been doing this for so long and his co-star had his worst season since his rookie year on top of being a liability defensively for most of the year. Malik Beasley consistently dying on screen. The back line of defense cannot be effective with a horrendous front line. He carries this team from beginning to end through 3 coaches. A lot of people put that on him but that first coach obviously alienated people since his head assistant resigned. The played 8 games with their full team since Doc took over. It’s like the only thing that really matter is the last month. SAD

    Jalen Brunson over Giannis is diabolical

    • @thekaying
      @thekaying 6 месяцев назад

      Brunson > Tatum tho.
      Tatum has been way below his defensive ceiling and offensively he's been bad by the league's increasing offensive standards for all-nba guys. Especially since he doesn't playmake and he's the inverse of clutch, swap him out with Mikal Bridges and the team wins are the same. Just give the ball to Jrue and Derrick more instead of having them play spot-up or dunker spot positions.

    • @karimw.9954
      @karimw.9954 6 месяцев назад

      @@thekaying right now, their offensive production is comparable. We won't mention defense because Jayson Tatum is leagues ahead of Jalen Brunson in that regard. The difference is Jayson has to split touches, essentially sacrificing his stats for the greater good.
      Swap Jayson and Jalen...either Jalen's numbers go down or they go up and everyone else's numbers go down. Jayson, on the other hand, would average over 30pts easily on the Knicks while improving the Knicks' defense.

    • @thekaying
      @thekaying 6 месяцев назад

      @@karimw.9954 *Absolutely not* lmao
      "Spliting touches"??? Their usage is 2% different, and *_Brunson is a fccing P&R heavy point guard._* Their AST:USG is 0.94 and 0.68 in favor of Brunson, when Tatum has a roster where he can slip and drop the ball and probably get an assist off it.
      Tatum is an *extremely overrated defender.* His team defends better without him on the court, and that's with him *_being backed up by Sam Hauser._*
      I do not care about 'swapping' hypotheticals because that's not how rosters are built. I would still LOVE to see yours, because Thibbs would probably force Tatum to be everything he can be and finally make him a genuine MVP candidate

    • @karimw.9954
      @karimw.9954 6 месяцев назад

      @@thekaying usage doesn't measure touches. You're laughing while not knowing what you're laughing at. Usage measures possessions that are ended with a turnover, field goal or free throw attempt. Touches and time of possession are actually tracked.
      Touches per game: Jalen Brunson - 88; Jayson Tatum - 75.8
      Time of possession: Jalen Brunson - 8.6; Jayson Tatum - 4.8
      Jalen Brunson has to dominate the ball to be as productive on offense as Jayson Tatum. While Jayson Tatum has to limit his usage to ensure other players can contribute to the league's number 1 ranked offense. This isn't a debate.
      You were the first to bring up a hypothetical but now you don't want to "swap hypotheticals". Makes sense. And whether or not Jayson Tatum is an overrated defender is irrelevant. He's exponentially better than Jalen Brunson and that isn't subjective.

    • @thekaying
      @thekaying 6 месяцев назад

      @@karimw.9954 Tatum is #1 in isolation frequency *_IN THE LEAGUE._* On *_the most talented team in the league._* You can't measure touches with ToP in this case, because *_95,6% of Tatum's iso makes are pullup threes._* If your main move is chucking it, your ToP will _always_ be tiny. That's not even playstyle, it's Tatum's horseshxt decisionmaking. I would be exstatic if Tatum had a bigger ToP, because it's more a measure of how much he settles than how much he gets the ball.
      Time of posession also compares Thibbs' offense (no. 1 in ToP) to Mazzulla's, as well as ignoring the fact that at a lower AST:USG, this literally just means Tatum shares the ball less and shoots tougher shots, making fewer shots for others. The ONLY way ToP would be a superior metric than USG% in this case would be if Tatum was an elite play finisher (lob threat, primarily spot-up, playing primarily off others) or a pg with fewer p&rs which he CLEARLY ISN'T, because again, he isolates THE MOST IN THE LEAGUE at a miniscule AST:USG.
      Furthermore raw touches are not what affects anyone "sacrificing stats" - usage is. so either "The difference is Jayson has to split touches, essentially sacrificing his stats for the greater good" was utterly nonsensical, or you meant how many plays a player gets to make for themselves and their stats, which is in no way what touches are as a statistic. More statistical touches relative to usage rate is actually closer to the INVERSE of what you seem to want it to mean - *_it means a player is setting up others instead of padding his own stats._* If tatum has a high USG with fewer touches - as he does - it means *_the ball sticks with him and he's getting a shot up or turns it over more often_* It's honestly easier to see you as dishonest than this dcmb.
      Thank you for accusing me then immediately putting on a clinic of "not knowing what you're laughing at"
      Swap hypotheticals work when the players are similar or fit equally well otherwise. What I said is literally a fact, you can't swap those two with the way the rosters are built around them and have that represent their respective skill. That's why MB works in that same spot and swapping a six footer for a 3/4 doesn't.

    Giannis is a no brainer for First Team All NBA! You're disrespect towards him is ABSURD!
    Giannis's defense was elite all year. The guards messing up on the perimeter is what has compromised his numbers. He's actually been better on defense than he was last year. Your bs defense wAsN't aS gOOd argument is a cop out because you know you're gonna get RIPPED for that choice.
    Screw off with this team success crap for All NBA . Giannis gets injured at the end of the year which leaves him incapable of trying retain the 2nd seed (you don't care about that context tho), Damian Lillard is worse this year and his horrible defense (also Malik's) forces Giannis into bad spots where he has to constantly help (you don't care about that context either), mid season coaching change forces a different style of play with no time to practice or learn the new concepts properly, and the Knicks being 1 game up rips away his First Team selection. A game they won by going into OVERTIME with against the freaking Bulls!
    One day's worth of games when Giannis was out and Lillard shoots 2-14 takes away Giannis's first team selection despite being the First player to average 30+ppg on 60%+ from the field. If Shaq did that, you wouldn't leave him off of first team even if he was on the freaking Pistons!
    Not to mention Jalen Brunson is listed as a MINUS defender. But defense is what bumps Giannis off?! Get outta here. Don't ever talk about anyone else's personal biases again. There are more than 3 locks for First team. Bunch of standings watchers you all are.

    Giannis > Tatum. Crediting him with wins he wasn't at all crucial for is dumb. They score 1 fewer point per 100 pos with him and opponents score 1 more. Net rating has limitations, but usually that's because of a good bench or because the starting lineup isn't dominant. In his case, both of those things are the opposite of true. He's not a net negative, but being -2 net on/off with that roster makes it very apparent he's barely a positive.
    He's been way below his defensive ceiling and offensively he's been bad by the league's standards for all-nba guys. Especially since he doesn't playmake and he's clutch for the other team, swap him out with Mikal Bridges and the team wins are the same. Just give the ball to Jrue and Derrick more instead of having them play spot-up or dunker spot positions.

    Legs comment about Leonard make no sense if you apply the argument to Lebron James. And the Clippers had a much better record than the Lakers. Clear bias to Lebron over Kawhi there
